Music
Jenny comes from a very musical family and started piano when she was five years old. She grew up constantly listening to her father practicing his guitar and brother practicing violin. Since then, her accomplishments include an Honorable Mention at the Korea Times Youth Music Competition. She has performed in two solo recitals and has performed biannually with the Beverly Hills Chamber Orchestra. Jenny has participated in the Frederic Chopin Felix Mendelssohn Minifest 2005 and has regularly performed at the Colburn School of Performing Arts from 2003 - 2008. Jenny was also a part of the Goldcoast Chamber Music Festival and was awarded the second prize at the Chamber Music Walker Competition. She has excellent communication skills and has worked as an assistant to the Program Coordinator at Montecito Summer Music Festival while al
so participating as a performer. In addition to her musical abilities, Jenny has received many academic honors as well. She is a member of the Agoura High Chapter of the California Scholarship and is also on the Dean’s List at the University of Southern California. She graduated from USC with a BA in Music and emphasis on Piano.

Jenny started teaching neighborhood kids while she was in high school and has continued to inspire her students throughout her academic studies. Dance
Jenny has always had a passion for the performing arts. During her years at USC, she discovered Latin dancing. She has performed, choreographed, and taught for USC's Latin dance team Break On 2 and is still involved. She has participated and performed at numerous salsa and bachata festivals/congresses.

*** Lesson Details ***
Music
As a teacher, I try to make music learning as fun and well-rounded as possible. Every student is unique, and I try my best to accommodate every individual's needs. I encourage students to always ask questions, no matter how silly it might sound, and to trust me to help you achieve your goals. I encourage students to tell me their favorite songs and genre of music and use the knowledge to help keep them motivated, to remind them that learning is fun.

For all ages and levels, I prefer to incorporate music theory as part of the learning process. It allows the student to see the how and why, to not only feel music but also understand it. If your goal is primarily playing oriented, I will, of course, adjust my teaching style to fit your needs.

I learn something new from every student, love seeing my students improve and gain confidence in themselves. I ask that students come with an open mind and be prepared to make mistakes because no piece is perfect and neither are lessons. Lessons give you the opportunity to make mistakes without judgement. You can trust me to always have a positive attitude, it is OK to make mistakes, but practice to play better, and enjoy the feedback to see yourself improve! Learning piano does not happen in a few lessons and is a lifelong rewarding process. I hope to see you treat music with respect, so let's make beautiful music together!

Dance
I also provide choreography for wedding dances (couples, father/daughter). My main focus is on the social aspect of Latin dancing, such as salsa, bachata, merengue, and cha cha. Thus, I will only take students who are able to go out dancing to studios, restaurants, and clubs, meaning 18+ individuals or groups. Every week, I will provide new, cool, and stimulating choreography that supplements technique while developing your own unique style. I love to see my students out on the dance floor, implementing moves learned and having fun! Dancing is a healthy, joyful activity. Get ready for a confidence boost and let's get your heart pumping!

Music - Upright piano and teaching/practice materials.
Dance - Music playing device, carpet.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music - Student should have a keyboard or piano and practice related materials. Dance - Ladies should have secure, comfortable heels. Gentlemen should wear non-rubber soled shoes. Preferably wood or laminate floor. Carpet is ok but will have a harder time developing technique. Also should have some sort of stereo or speaker system, a computer is OK if it is loud.

I was failing genetics and with online tutoring i went from a 69% to A. He really has your best interests in mind, when i asked him last minute to help and he was too packed helping other students he referred me to another well rounded tutor. dr. Z is worth the wait since he has a lot of patience for disabled students, he truly enables them. Thank you for helping me accomplish such a tough subject.

I just started nursing school at UCLA and had failed my first midterm. Dr. Z was really supportive and taught me how to study. He really knew how to teach the material. Michelle completed her Associates of Arts for Music/Music Education at the age of 18, and got later graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a Bachelor's of Arts for Musical Theater and Music Business, as well as from Florida International University with a Master's of Music in Vocal Performance.

After reading all the glowing reviews, I decided to book a one-hour Microsoft Excel lesson with Daniel. He was 10 minutes late to the session and the the session ended up running over half an hour. In 1.5 hour, I walked away with not having any of my excel questions solved. Nice guy, but Just make sure he can assist your Microsoft Excel needs before booking a session with him.

I enjoy teaching students of all levels and backgrounds. As a tutor, I have taught lessons in multiple subjects, but my personal interest is in Reading and Writing. I help my students improve their skills weekly while encouraging them to craft their own voice and writing style. (This is very important for high school students working on their college admission essays!) I strive to really get to know my students and create personalized lesson plans according to their needs. My ultimate goal with every student I teach, is not only to catch him/her up in schoolwork, but also get him/her ahead.

She is a great instructor! I had a C+ in math class and she helped me improve my grade. Now I have a A. She helped me improve by helping me study for my tests. She also helped me in writing. She gave me good pointers on how to revise and draft a good narrative. Pretty good instructor to have :)

I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.
