About Cody
With my two Bachelor's degrees in Music Composition and Technology, I began tutoring students in piano, voice, and composition as it was part of my training. I also have experience writing and editing essays, books, and more for several independent clients. I have experience writing my own books as well. I have written two so far, but am getting ready to write a third. I am a copious editor and can catch grammatical and other errors with ease. This is why tutoring in English would be great for me.
I thought I would add basic math for those school-aged children that are having a little trouble with it in their classes.
Usually, I teach lessons in my home in Diamond Bar or online, but if the need arises, I could surely work out coming to the students' homes for one-on-one tutoring help. With me, most students click after a few lessons and
understand what they couldn't in the classroom. I help the students by teaching in innovative ways that will catch their attention more than standard teaching methods. Students should consider me for I can make learning fun and never a chore!

*** Lesson Details ***
I use a wide variety of techniques to sing, play piano and other instruments. Techniques include straight vowel singing (no words) to test how long to hold notes, using color to help people sight read, using improvisational techniques in order to play jazz, rock, classical and many other styles of music.
I use what they student has under his or her belt as a starting point to see what lessons we could start them on.
I also assist with online lessons to make transportation a thing of the past. If you've got a webcam or Skype, I can do long-distance lessons with you! So, I am here to help!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Alesis Recital Keyboard
Music sheets
Web cam
Mac computer (MacBook Pro)
Finale music notation software to help in composition and theory lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music paper for away lessons.
Finale for composition and music theory lessons.
Can use macbook for more elaborate teaching or demonstration if need be.

*** Specialties ***
I do teach classical composition with specialties in ensemble and chamber music. I also specialize in songwriting for pop and other media.
I teach voice and vocal techniques of sacred choral and vocal music.
I teach classical and jazz piano and improvisation. I also have the distinction in being able to teach students with special needs or learning disabilities as I have a mild form of cerebral palsy and understand what students with special needs go through.

About Michelle
Hi! I'm Michelle, a world traveler/teacher who's here to help bring her experience and energy to students back home in California. I've taught various subjects such as test prep, English, history, and languages to students all over the world, such as China, France, and Ecuador. I've worked with students of all ages and love getting to know them to help figure out how they best learn.

I love learning languages in my spare time and practicing when I can. When I'm not looking a bit silly doing that, I'm usually reading, at a baseball game, hiking, or hanging out with friends. I keep active, making sure to run or climb a mountain when I can. However, it's equally as strong as my love for foods of all kinds.

I really look forward to getting to work with you and helping you with whatever I can!

Adam is a really great listener and excellent source of thought provoking, well timed input that has really helped me develop and improve my story organically without changing its intention with strong suggestions as most people's feedback often attempts to do. If you're looking for a hand in finding your own voice and to strengthen your writing skills or excellent constructive feedback for your story then look no further.

Adam Gaines is a godsend. I was really lucky to have his guidance over the years which helped my craft and dedication to the art of writing greatly. He is a proven writer with legitimate credits but also, he actually cares. He is always ready to help and takes your material seriously which is most important when you want honest feedback and guidance. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of films, screenwriting, and the industry that is both impressive and beneficial. He is a wonderful friend and mentor who will always have a great recommendation or suggestion ready for your work and/or career. Adam is an extremely open individual with an immense passion for film and the craft of screenwriting which becomes infectious. That trait is crucial since it keeps you driven to keep learning and grow. He is also an excellent conversationalist with his own voice which is truly refreshing. Highly recommend.

About Mike
I'm a Johns Hopkins University graduate who has earned multiple perfect scores on the SAT. In the decade I spent working for a test prep company, I taught students of various abilities, ran prep courses, wrote class materials for all three subjects, advised families about every aspect of the standardized testing process, and gave SAT and ACT presentations at local high schools. I doubt you'll find anyone with more experience!

I often work with students whose SAT scores don't match up with their grades, so if that sounds like you, don't worry! The SAT is a unique test that asks questions about familiar topics that you've learned in school, but it does so in a way that disguises those topics. For example, you might be staring at a Math question that makes you feel totally lost - like you don't even know where to start. In fact, you probabl
y have all the knowledge you need to solve it. My job is to help you get better at searching your brain for the right strategy.

I use real practice tests so that you can see more questions and get more comfortable with the format of the exam. But I've also written my own study materials that break the SAT and ACT down into manageable "packets". Each packet is meant to narrow your focus to a certain question type. I think you'll see pretty quickly that the SAT doesn't change all that much from test to test, so once you know how to recognize each question type, you won't be surprised when you see it on the next exam. That's why they call it a standardized test - the questions don't vary all that much!

By breaking the test down into manageable chunks, I can make it easier to learn the material because you won't have to memorize hundreds of formulas, grammar rules, and vocabulary words at once. Small goals are easier to achieve. And accomplishing those little goals will boost your confidence, making you more willing to try the hardest problems that you used to give up on. As you take practice tests, you'll see those scores go up, and you'll actually be excited for test day!

I am a highly professional and results-driven ESL teacher with experience in the development and delivery of language programs to a wide variety of clients encompassing diverse backgrounds, beginners to advanced, from students and migrants to business professionals. Moreover, I volunteered for LAVC back in 2008-9 at the Learning Center teaching Spanish to non-Spanish speakers and students with disabilities. As a highly compassionate and approachable teaching professional, with over 10 years of hands-on teaching experience, I am confident in my ability to become a valuable member of your teaching staff. My qualifications include two M.A. degrees, one in Linguistics from CSUN and another in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication from Saint-Petersburg State University. Currently, I am in the program for TESL/TESOL certificate at CSUN. M
y professional experience includes two years as an English teacher in Armenia and Russia and almost three years as an ESL instructor here in the US. Research and formal education in intercultural communication and negotiations gave an amazing opportunity to explore the diversity of the world and apply the gained knowledge as an ESL teacher. As an instructor at Kaplan Westwood, I oversaw a period where the school achieved the best student review rates in the area and was commended for my performance. This role demanded the regular creation of learning materials, the teaching of lessons, workshops and intensive courses, the preparation of progress reports. One of the effective ways I assist ESL students is by developing and presenting comprehensible and stimulating lesson plans that facilitate leaning and fit all learning styles. I also incorporate variety of resources like audio, visual, and video.
