Hello, my name is Brenda! It is nice to meet you.

I have been teaching private lessons for over a decade, and have my B.M. in Music Education from William Paterson University. I was a voice major and flute/piano double minor, and I just completed my Masters of Music in Performance with the Opera Institute at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.

Although I do work with students of all ages, I specialize in working with younger children and retired adults!

I primarily teach voice, flute, piano, music theory and history and have over 10 years of experience teaching in both individual and group settings. I also work on audition and performance preparation, do speech/accent work and more. I am constantly studying different teaching methods so I can develop a custom program that best fits your learning styles and inco
rporates what you already know, with what you will need to learn in order to achieve your goals.

Whether you want to play flute, clarinet, sing, act, or learn to play piano, I am here to help you become the best musician you can be. Classically trained, I also work with the styles of musical theatre, pop, rock, and jazz. I can teach you the proper techniques, posture, and breathing necessary to perform to the best of your ability and teach you how to utilize your full lung capacity to extend phrasing length and dynamic range. I will also help you learn to read and write music. Together, we will keep a log to track your progress lesson to lesson. This will also help you keep a record of the steps you are taking to obtain and achieve your goals and dreams.

In 2006 I began my personal journey with yoga. At first it was a way to lose a little weight and get free of some of the stresses of my daily work life. But, I quickly fell in love and soon devoted myself to daily practice. In 2011 I completed my first 200 hour yoga teacher certification course in hot yoga. In 2014 I decided to grow my knowledge and completed a second 200 hour certification in Vinyasa yoga. My teaching style can be personalized to best serve the student. My purpose as a yoga teacher is to provide students with a way to move forward in their own personal journeys. Yoga is an art and a science that can touch mind, body and soul. But each person's yoga path is his/her own, and we can work together to find you the balance, strength, flexibility, relaxation, courage, peace, understanding, or whatever it is you seek!

Morissa is a great teacher. Her classes are always so well thought out and structured. She is very creative with her flow and offers lots of guidance through out class, most especially during the peak pose. I love taking her class because I always feel calm and centered afterwards. I have been a professional actor, model, and singer for 10 years. I specialize in on-camera acting for TV commercials, industrial video, and host. Most of the modeling I've done is commercial print and live promotional modeling. I've taught group acting classes to kids ages 6-17, including on-camera auditioning, stage directions, script analysis, and business skills (headshot/resume, finding an agent, industry terms, etc.).
My singing experience includes pop, musical theatre, and jazz. I've coached students who believed they were hopeless, and they were pleased to discover their gifts and see growth!
I am a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) and have taught
for 3 years, both group classes and privately.
I minored in French in college and tutored beginning French.

Trying to sing in front of someone is very intimidating for me but Stacey made me feel comfortable from the start. She was very professional and the lesson took a very logical sequence that I could understand. In the past I took lessons from another teacher and my experience with Stacey far exceeded my previous experience and exceeded my expectations...with her help I may actually be able carry a tune!

After graduating high school at the top of my class, I got full funding for an economics degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where I was born. I was very busy in college--my extracurriculars included 2 semesters abroad (Spain, Singapore), writing an honors thesis, being a consultant to the academic advising office, and being president of an honor society; besides this I worked my butt off in classes and graduated with a 3.7.

I focus on alignment making sure you are moving in and out of postures correctly as well as while you are in the posture. This prevents injury and will allow you to get the most benefit from the practice.
