I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I offer private yoga instruction at my home studio. My journey into the world of yoga began when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a pervasive autoimmune disease characterized by pain in the body. Since then I have learned to use my practice to heal my physical body, calm my emotional body, and bring balance into my life. Yoga is a way to connect the mind and the body and to become aware of the spirit. Yoga has changed my life and I work to cater each class to meet the needs of the individual present.

About Jillian
I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Classical Voice); certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional freelance writer and editor.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances and developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.

I incorporate my experience as a therapist into the educative setting.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I am a professional vocalist in NYC. I perform liturgical and classical music, as well as musical theater repertoire. I participate in professional operas, choral groups and other concert series. Performing gives me a sense of bliss and completeness that is indescribable.

It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

I have been taking Liam's Tai Chi/ Qi Gong class for nearly two years now. He is a dynamic teacher that is sensitive to different types of learning paces and styles (both eastern and western) and employs both in his classes. His explanations are simple and he always relates the movement back to its origin as a martial arts defense/offensive move which helps one establish the intention behind the movement. I have learned yang short form and chen style short form from him. I would highly recommend that you take his class if you are interested in beginning or continuing a tai chi practice. Through my practice I have found a healthy way to manage stress and anxiety.

In 2006 I began my personal journey with yoga. At first it was a way to lose a little weight and get free of some of the stresses of my daily work life. But, I quickly fell in love and soon devoted myself to daily practice. In 2011 I completed my first 200 hour yoga teacher certification course in hot yoga. In 2014 I decided to grow my knowledge and completed a second 200 hour certification in Vinyasa yoga. My teaching style can be personalized to best serve the student. Morissa is a great teacher. Her classes are always so well thought out and structured. She is very creative with her flow and offers lots of guidance through out class, most especially during the peak pose. I love taking her class because I always feel calm and centered afterwards.
