About Omar
My passion is sharing music with people.

I love to answer questions and learn things I don't know, I know a good amount about guitar repair, improvised instrument building, how to buy a good instrument and not spend to much, and I have a vast knowledge of obscure instruments, and audio production as well. Feel free to ask me questions, and expect informative non-judgmental answers.

I have spent a lot of time developing as a vocalist, songwriter, composer and producer, which helps me in all aspects of my music and teaching, I'm always looking to learn more. I have played in heavy metal bands, but have also done solo acoustic singer/songwriting stuff, I have produced raw hip-hop but also love old soul and ska tunes. Being well rounded musically and drawing from lots of influences is what makes me a good teacher and shapes me as a m
usician.

As an artist I have been featured on MTV, Rollingstone, BBC, NBC, VOA, ARY, Alt Press, LA times, documentaries and more. I have been playing guitar and recording music since childhood and am a classically trained sitar player and Indian classical vocalist.

I am a great teacher for someone who wants to write songs, or is into Indie, rock, pop, reggae, metal, hip-hop, and electronica.

*** Lesson Details/ What to Expect ***

You can expect a custom, fun and attentive one on one lesson. I am thorough and patient. I expect you to love music and put forth effort. I'm laid back, I will work as fast or as slow as you need. I prefer a total immersion technique and get my students playing right away. This boosts confidence and fosters interest because once a student enjoys playing you don't have to convince them to practice.

By the first lesson you will be familiar with the instrument and it's parts, and playing your first chord.

In 3-6 months you will be playing guitar with a greater knowledge of chords, basic harmony and be able to play scales and songs.

Once you have a foundation of chords we can explore more specific music subjects and lessons will become more personalized: songwriting, guitar tones, musicology, making a DIY record, shredding like a metalhead, I can guide you to help you achieve your goals.

I receive a very large number of student requests everyday, So to keep things organized please keep the following in mind:

Takelessons is a wonderful service that I use to handle all my payments and scheduling. I want to focus on the teaching, so they help with the rest.

I have a 24 hour cancelation policy, please give me at least 24 hour advanced notice, or you will forfeit your lesson credit.

All scheduling changes or time off can be requested right from the website for your connivence. it's super easy!

Use an email that you will actually check to sign up for notifications, it's not spam, it's to help us all stay organized.

Remember to please reserve your spot by paying in advance. (I have a waiting list of people asking me for those super convenient days, and times)

Online students please make sure you have the highest connection speed available to you. This will ensure you get the most out of the lessons.

*** Equipment ***

Please make sure you have your own instrument, and a note book or device to take notes with.

He answers all questions I have, giving me much clarity. He absolutely knows his stuff. I would recommend him to anyone willing to learn a musical skill or advancement in theirs. I have learned so much from him! He's very talented and gifted. Highly recommended.

Omar is a one in 100 billion guy with amazing teaching skills and patience and kindness that speaks volume to his character! I was able to learn exactly what I wanted to learn with him and unlike other teachers that try to get you to slow down, Omar was always pushing me to get to the next level, building my confidence and encouraging me. If you work with Omar you will not be disappointed!

I had one lesson with Omar before he got a big break in his career and had to move to LA. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable and he expanded my knowledge of fundamentals of the guitar neck as well as posture for my fret hand. He even spent an extra 25 minutes with me! Great news for him that he had to leave, but bad news for me.

About Jessie
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I hope to help you achieve your goals and improve your skills, whether you're looking for music lessons, help in math, or need someone to proofread your essay before you turn it in. Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to their individual needs. Each of my students prospers in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career, and the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of knowledge that will always enrich their lives.

I have been tutoring and teaching private lessons for over five years, and currently have over 40 active students. I received my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the Unive
rsity of Redlands in 2011, and my Associate of Arts degree in 2008 from College of the Desert. I teach online, locally, and at my studio, and cover a variety of subjects such as voice, music, theater, piano, math, english, music theory, just to name a few.

For academic tutoring (i.e. math, theory, vocabulary) I work on helping the student understand their homework and help prepare them for tests. I can also provide worksheets if necessary and am prepared to demonstrate problem areas in different ways if needed, because everyone learns differently. For voice, piano, music, and acting lessons I teach the student based on what their current level is. If you have no experience, that's okay! My lessons are uniquely designed to fit your needs no matter what level you may be.

As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I received my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Seussical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, because performing is a part of who I am and I could never live without it!

With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life they will achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having fun doing it!

*Note: My home office has a lot of stairs and two cats. If you are disabled or have a feline allergy, please consider in-home lessons or lessons online.

About Benzion
Do you need a study partner or simply someone to ignite your child's interest in learning? I am a graduate student in medieval and early modern history. I did my coursework at The Ohio State University, though I now live with my wife in South Pasadena as I write my doctoral dissertation. My research has taken me to Oxford and Jerusalem and I have aided numerous leading scholars. I can put my experience to work for you to help you succeed.
I taught at the university level as well as high school so I understand what it takes to make the transition from one to the other. My method of tutoring focuses on methodology in analyzing texts as opposed to the brute memorization of facts. Because I have a background in a lot of different topics I tend to allow lessons to move over a wide range of fields, depending on what interests the students. T
his serves to engage a variety of students on their own terms. In a sense, what I offer is a theatrical performance in which I open up my own inner thinking process about a given topic and in turn invite students to join in this performance.
I have in the past conducted my classes as book clubs in which students voted on books to read and I worked my lessons around these books. I believe that this method can be particularly valuable for the smaller more intimate setting of tutoring. Ultimately, I like to see myself as a living resource that students can use to help them connect to the world of books and of private reading where the true process of education lies. I would finish by noting that I have particular experience in dealing with special needs students such as those with Asperger's Syndrome.
Do not waste hours of your precious time banging your head against a wall in futility. Contact me and we will work through your difficulties together.

Hi everyone! I've been teaching in a variety of areas for many years in many different respects. I teach voice lessons, and audition coaching. I've been doing that for a long time! During my "day-job" years, I was an analyst, and I'm especially skilled with Microsoft Excel. And I LOVE teaching people how to make magic on that program. I have done projects that included creating databases, training departments on the use of said databases, taught entire departments at Jet Propulsion Laboratory how to migrate to Microsoft Outlook from (the archaic) Eudora.

My musical talents run parallel with my affinity for numbers. In my life, it has manifested in music composition, arranging, and musical direction. And, of course, PERFORMANCE! I've performed in and around the Los Angeles area for many years. I own a professional Christmas Caroling co
mpany that I direct and sing in as well. So I'm a performer, and a small business owner! So come see what I can offer!

I love Denise! Denise is patient and kind which is wonderful as a teacher. She creates a safe space, but she's also constructive with her criticisms and how to improve. She's also nurturing which I think is an excellent quality to have as a dance teacher as she's respectful of all dancers of other levels/experience. She loves to fun during class too! I love attending class because not only do I learn how to become a better dancer, but she makes it fun too.

I have been tutoring for 2 years, both as a private tutor and a teacher’s assistant. I have taught a variety of subjects but primarily specialize in MCAT prep, biology, neuroscience, chemistry, and math. With my help, many of my students have improved their test scores considerably in these subjects. I graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in neurobiology and afterwards I worked as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health. Altogether, I have 5.5 years’ experience working in cellular/molecular neuroscience labs so I bring a deep understanding of many biology and chemistry concepts with real world applications.

I accept students of all ages, having tutored for college level students as well as elementary school students. I approach teaching by assessing my student’s strengths and weaknesses, followed by addressing confusion
s to until he/she is confident in the material.

I love science and math and hope to bring my enjoyment and confidence to you! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. :)

About Mike
I'm a Johns Hopkins University graduate who has earned multiple perfect scores on the SAT. In the decade I spent working for a test prep company, I taught students of various abilities, ran prep courses, wrote class materials for all three subjects, advised families about every aspect of the standardized testing process, and gave SAT and ACT presentations at local high schools. I doubt you'll find anyone with more experience!

I often work with students whose SAT scores don't match up with their grades, so if that sounds like you, don't worry! The SAT is a unique test that asks questions about familiar topics that you've learned in school, but it does so in a way that disguises those topics. For example, you might be staring at a Math question that makes you feel totally lost - like you don't even know where to start. In fact, you probabl
y have all the knowledge you need to solve it. My job is to help you get better at searching your brain for the right strategy.

I use real practice tests so that you can see more questions and get more comfortable with the format of the exam. But I've also written my own study materials that break the SAT and ACT down into manageable "packets". Each packet is meant to narrow your focus to a certain question type. I think you'll see pretty quickly that the SAT doesn't change all that much from test to test, so once you know how to recognize each question type, you won't be surprised when you see it on the next exam. That's why they call it a standardized test - the questions don't vary all that much!

By breaking the test down into manageable chunks, I can make it easier to learn the material because you won't have to memorize hundreds of formulas, grammar rules, and vocabulary words at once. Small goals are easier to achieve. And accomplishing those little goals will boost your confidence, making you more willing to try the hardest problems that you used to give up on. As you take practice tests, you'll see those scores go up, and you'll actually be excited for test day!
