Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

*** Lesson Details ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

I decided to start singing lessons with Mr. Cooper about a year ago and I'm very pleased with the Service. I believe Mr. Cooper is a very gifted musician and singer who has a real ability to understand music and teach that understanding in a relatable way. I'm just beginning to learn about different musical concepts that really help me understand how to learn more effectively. I appreciate everything he's helped me with and plan to continue learning as much as possible.
I would highly recommend him for any relevant musical training.

I have had the pleasure of taking vocal lessons from Mr. Cooper for about 2 years now, as well as starting Suzuki piano not too long ago. He is a gifted teacher who truly has a passion for teaching and love for music! Not only has he improved my aural skills, but he has helped me understand music on a much deeper level! My knowledge of technique and overall musicianship has improved drastically while taking lessons with him. Mr. Cooper has challenged me and broadened my musical horizons. He has helped me advance and learn new technique on the piano, as well as expanding my vocal range and performance skills. I would highly recommend him!

The ACT English Test consists of 75 questions to be answered in 45 minutes. The questions are multiple choice, and they measure an individual's knowledge of English grammar, usage, sentence construction, punctuation, organization, and style. I like to use the most recent guidelines available when tutoring my students for test preparation, so I will be using the Princeton Review's Crash Course for the ACT, 3rd Edition, as a main source for studies and question and answer sessions with my students. I supplement this with AP English exercises to ensure that my students have a solid base from which to answer test questions. I alternate between verbal and written exercises to keep the process interesting and relevant.

As a child I watched from the doorway as my older sister took her piano lessons. From that experience I taught myself to play the piano. My formal training came in college where I received my BA in Applied Music in piano and voice. I studied classical music and opera from a visiting professor from Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore MD. I graduated with honors and gave my Town Hall performance in the Spring of my Senior year. I had a passionate desire to be involved in music, to hear it and to perform it. I spent several years singing with the San Diego Opera Company, performing lead roles in Musical Theater and soloing in concerts from Monterrey to San Diego, CA. While still a student in college, I taught piano to children from the local community, so I have accumulated decades of teaching experience. Nothing brings me greater pleasure than

i recently came out of an audition and I sang my musical pieces better than I've ever done them before! The auditioner sat me down at the end and said he loves my voice. He said, based on how much he liked my pieces and how well I did that he would like to extend an early invitation for callbacks for the program! I really have Patricia to thank for that. She has helped me improve my voice by leaps and bounds in the time that i have been working with her and its amazing to get such immediate and rewarding results. I CAN NOT THANK PATRICIA ENOUGH! SHE COULD NOT HAVE PREPARED ME ANY BETTER AND IM SO GRATEFUL THAT I GET TO WORK WITH HER!!

She is great! It will be my 5th lesson with her tomorrow, but she has already gave me confidence in singing (at least I can get my voice out more than before without shame), being patient with me, very informative, and gives great advises.
I originally took her lesson because I had an audition for Christmas Carol, and I wanted to at least go over the song I was going to use. Instead, she gave me another song to sing for the audition. I have never been able to get in a show where singing is the main dish; however, after her advise with the new song, I was thrilled to see an email from the casting director when I was chosen to be in the show! I can never thank enough her for this. :D

Teaching and tutoring has been my calling from early in life. It started with tutoring my friends, up to when I was hired through my high school Calculus class to tutor 10th grade Geometry students.

Since then, I've taught GRE, ACT and SAT prep and I've been a classroom mathematics teacher (from 7th grade to 12th grade) for almost a decade.

I have two specialties that make me fairly unique in the domain of Mathematics and Test Prep teaching and tutoring: First, I help students to understand the topic on a much deeper and more interesting level, by connecting it to related topics and skills, providing historical background, and elaborating on how it's been used and how it's currently used. This makes the material much more interesting, and, hence, much more likely to be recalled it in the future, than when it is taught the standard w
ay.

Secondly, I am well aware of the role test-anxiety and self-doubt plays in the lack of success of some students, so I put a lot of emphasis on the emotional and psychological component of learning and test-taking. With a bachelor's degree in Psychology, I have tools to apply that help students to overcome the debilitating affects of test anxiety, self-doubt, and fear of failure.

Beyond this, I am very personable and can connect with most any student that I teach. I love to help students to learn, and that is readily evident to my students. Some students are intimidated by teachers or tutors who don't know how to connect with the students on a personal level, or how to break things down in a way that makes sense to the student, but that's where I truly excel. Instead of simply repeating myself and wondering why a students doesn't understand a challenging concept, I work to grasp where the breakdown occurs, and then build up from what they do already understand. Through this, I have had unparalleled success throughout my teaching experience, whether it is Math specifically, or Test Prep more generally.

Since he is an experienced teacher, I invited Andy to speak to my graduate students in the teacher certification program at Temple University. He was very well received. Andy spoke to the pre-service teachers about classroom management, adolescent development, and test anxiety. His presentation was well organized and engaging, and the students learned much from his words of wisdom and concrete examples from urban teaching.

Andy has been working with our middle-school-aged son this summer, to help him prepare for a challenging Algebra I class next school year. We didn't want to overwhelm our son with endless lessons, so we prioritized finding a tutor who would tailor both his teaching style and the material for optimal understanding. Andy did exactly that. He rapidly got to know our son's learning style, motivations, and concerns-- and structured his lessons to complement them. I got accepted to a lot of prestigious colleges including UCLA, UC Berkeley, University of Michigan, Emory University, and University of Texas at Austin. I earned my bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in 2003. My highest degree is a PhD in psychology with a specialty in quantitative research methods, which I earned from Vanderbilt in 2012.

As a PhD student I taught courses in introductory statistics and tutored high school and college students in math. When I'm not tutoring, I teach my children, who are 6, 4, and 2, and run a printing business with my husband.

Kim tutored me during my last semester of my senior year on statistics. I am SO thankful to have learned from her because, not only is she a welcoming person to meet with, but her help on statistics brought my grade average up by almost 2 letter grades!
I actually felt excited about this tough subject because Kim never had to graze over any subjects in the course; she always knew the subject and went in-depth when I needed it.

I worked with Kim on The Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth at Vanderbilt. She is a brilliant statistician and a very patient teacher. She is able to work with the student or advisee on an individual basis by assessing the individual's educational needs. I would highly recommend her to any student who needs help in any field of mathematics.

Our son was tutored in math for 3 years while in middle school. Julia's tutoring provided a great foundation for his high school curriculum. It allowed him to finish one year of a college level math class while in high school.
Our daughter was also tutored while in elementary school. Math is her favorite subject in school. We really liked Julia's teaching approach,great communication skills , and her patience .

I stress understanding (geometrically/analytically) rather than memorizing formulas. This ensures my students can derive formulas/solutions even without memorization.

I know firsthand how difficult it is to learn programming whether you are a total newbie, or a budding intermediate, but I have overcame these challenges myself and will guide you to overcome them too. I also have 3 years of tutoring experience, which will surely come in handy!

About Bill
I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.

I enjoy tutoring and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!

Aside from academics, I enjoy playing the piano. I also play the occasional volleyball and kickball.

Bill is superb at making difficult concepts easy! One particular problem I always had trouble understanding is calculating volume of revolutions using the cylindrical method. He drew a diagram explaining intuitively why the formula worked and it just clicked.
