SAT, ACT and AP in math and science, CBEST and CSET (math and science)

About Celine
I hold a MA in Piano Performance from Azusa Pacific University. I have been teaching piano for all ages and all levels since 2002. I had formal training in Suzuki pedagogy method from the Suzuki certified trainer. Over the last ten years, I have been integrating Suzuki method with various modern piano pedagogies to teach beginners and received positive feedback from students and parents. I believe that students under my integrated method usually progress much faster than the ones under traditional Suzuki method.

In addition to piano teaching, I also teach all levels of accordion and violin (Suzuki Method).

I am patient, friendly, cheerful and good at customizing my lessons to meet individual student's needs. I believe all students have potential to master skills as long as they have strong self-discipline, perseverance and supporti
ve family and good teachers.

I welcome all of students and parents to contact me to start a joyful learning journey with me. You will get your time and money worth!

I teach test taking skills with any subject

About Ilona
For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make the learning interesting and fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as a learning opportunities.

I have a Master's Degree (2012) in teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as degree in violin performance from Poland.
I studied piano in Poland for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program.

I
teach music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am a fan of the Essential Elements 2000 for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards.
For teaching music theory I mostly used Master Theory.

I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions.
I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs.
I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary.
All my lessons include: technique: I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both.
music theory: I use Master Theory or other books such as Hal Leonard's Piano Note spellers & Piano Music Theory books for younger ages, music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.

Besides Essential Elements 2000 for strings I also use String Tunes and Fiddle Runners to add more fun to the lessons. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I always bring violin with me to be able to show what I teach.

*** Travel Equipment ***
The students needs to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place to be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.

*** Specialties ***
I tutor most K-12 subjects and prepare students to take ACT, SAT, GRE tests.
Music genres: Classical, traditional, Suzuki, Popular, Celtic, fiddle, Blues

About Clifford
'Dr. Cliff,' a part-time college/university professor, teacher and tutor with 5 master's and 3 doctoral degrees in a variety of topics: Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, MBA, Leadership, Education and Administration. He has always used proven educational techniques to instruct undergraduate students, graduate students and school children/teenagers (K-12). Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students
and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.

In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

About Daniel

I'm a graduate of UCLA School of Engineering with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I have a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 9 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven very effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success!

Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subje
cts can be attributed to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up with the pace and workload that advanced courses demand or haven't figured out the best way to study for themselves. I am able to assess a student's shortcomings and formulate a plan for higher achievement.

Math:
• Elementary • Pre-Algebra • Algebra 1 & 2 • Geometry • Pre-Calculus
• Trigonometry • AP Calculus • Business Calculus • Differential Equations

Physics:
• AP Physics 1 & 2 • College Physics

Test Prep:

Computers:
• MS Word • Excel • PowerPoint • Adobe Acrobat • General Windows/MAC

Experienced teacher of Test Prep available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of skills. I typically use books, and also have the tools available to use during lessons.

About Akib
I am eager and equally interested in applying to offer my skill. With the academic and leadership qualities that you are looking for, I believe I would be able to contribute to the objectives.

I am presently enrolled in New York Institute of Technology as a junior in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and complete my bachelors by December 2015. I am thrilled to know that you are looking for a tutor and I feel that this is the perfect platform for me.
As a result of my previous work experience in the Learning Center in my college for the last couple of years, I believe I am well equipped with not only academic qualifications but also experienced in working in an energetic and dynamic environment. I have been also serving for a tutoring Center, Math Matters and very much familiar with the new Common Core Curriculum. I am also
familiar with Regions Curriculum I have also served as a Supplemental Instructor for Physics that adds to my leadership abilities.

An opportunity to be able to work will prove to be mutually beneficial. While I will be able to gain further experience about the real-world applications of teaching, I believe that will also be a great addition to the working terms and contribute to your goals and objectives.

Learning material for a test has little to do with memorization, and lots to do with understanding: Understanding the material, understanding the process, understanding why test stress exists, and most of all, understanding how to prepare.

About Larry
***My Takelessons Blog Posts:***
http://takelessons.com/blog/acting-in-famous-Shakespeare-plays
http://takelessons.com/blog/how-to-have-stage-presence

My name is Larry, and I was born and raised in Chicago and now call the Phoenix, AZ metro area home. I have two Master's Degrees in Education (Higher Ed. and Teaching and Learning with Technology), and am working on another M.A. currently in History. I have a tutoring business of my own, working with excellent education partners like Takelessons.

My tutoring business is geared towards middle, high school, and college students, and my specialization is geared in three arenas:

1) The Humanities: History (U.S., European, Oriental, and World), English, Literature (with a special passion for all things Shakespeare), and Social Studies (including American Government and Political Sci
ence).

2) Papers: Research papers (and how to do the research for them), essays, creative writing - everything to do with papers you ever wanted to know.

3) Drama (the Theatre kind of drama, not life drama): Acting, directing, staging, analysis, including the aforementioned Will Shakespeare.

***My Promise to You***

I will treat you like an individual - that means that we'll find out how YOU learn best, and we'll work that way. I don't teach "to the test", I don't teach memorization. I teach by asking and answering questions, as well as providing information.

***My Expectation of You***

That you will come with an open mind, come with questions, come with not just the willingness to learn and have fun, but the expectation to do both.

***Lesson Details***

*The Humanities*
The reason so many people go screaming into the night when confronted with lessons in things like history, or government, or English for that matter, are all the names and dates to memorize. I don't teach that way. We begin with things you want (or need) to know. From there, we cover how those things affected other things, It's a huge world out there, and how we got here from where we started is a wonderful and complicated trip. History doesn't happen in a vacuum, and we learn who we are by knowing where we come from.

*Papers*
Obviously I won't write your paper for you, but I will show you how and where to start your research (and how to sort it as well). I will also proof-read for grammar and/or organizational errors and show you how to structure it in general terms.

*Drama*
I have acted, I have directed. From the community to professional levels. We will talk about character creation, about staging, about working with your director as well as your fellow actors. We will mostly brainstorm, and you will be able to experiment in vision as well as technique.
