I have a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Pre-Health Professional Studies. As a former pre-medicine student, I know the content depth that is important to teach to my students. As I am currently earning my Master in Secondary Education towards becoming a teacher, I am trained in the learning sciences to teach my lessons in an effective and memorable manner. I have experience scaffolding and differentiating lessons. I know how to accommodate and modify lessons based on IEPs. I am also trained in designing Response-to-Intervention to get underachieving students to succeed. I have experience with Highly Gifted, International Baccalaureate, and Advanced Placement classes. I can also provide test preparation coaching.

About Diana

Welcome! I am glad to meet you. My name is Ms. Diana, and I will be your teacher. I'm looking forward to helping you on your path towards academic success!

To whom it may concern,
Diana L. Has been an amazing instructor for the past couple of months. She has encouraged me and pushed me to do better in math. She explains the material in different ways to find a perfect fit for me to understand. She’s very cooperative and values teaching. She has helped me in every way possible. She gives session notes so I can study the material afterwards in order to help me retain everything. I highly recommend her teaching!

To Whom it may concern,

I am writing this review because something amazing has been taking place with my child since she's been working with Ms. Diana L.

My Daughter Chelsea struggled for years in math and she lacked mathematical confidence, but since she's been working with Diana her Math skills and confidence have increased dramatically.

Ms. L. takes a flexible approach to teaching and finding the best tailored approach for her students. I believe this approach is the reason for my daughters' recent success. Diana has only been working with Chelsea for a few months and her test scores and class participation have increased greatly.

I would recommend Ms. L. to any one that has a child that struggles in any area of Math , she has done wonders for my child and I am highly appreciative to her for all her teaching.

Sincerely,
Cliff Lawrence

Helped me with Introductory Physics 1 and 2! Really helped me understand the material rather than just doing the problems for me! Great tutoring!

Daniel tutored my teenage son in Algebra and Geometry for over one year. During that time, my son's grades increased and he became more confident with Math, in general. His time with Daniel set him up for success in Algebra 2 this year (11th grade). Daniel was always on time, very polite and courteous with my son! Highly recommend his tutoring service.

Daniel was an hour late to the class, didn't have any intro, did not even show his face online which should be a mandatory practice for security reasons. My son had a lesson with him for less than 45 min, ( in between he had to figure out to effectively use Zoom features because he didn't want to use the platform from Takelesson ) and he charged us one hour lesson. He was an ok teacher, but I think it's a strictly business for him, he said he won't teach an extra minute for free, Lol, don't be in this business if you don't love what you do.
It took me 30 min to found a better AP physics teacher at a better price on a different provider website, and honestly, they love what they do so everyone is happy.

Much like study skills, this is a topic that is primarily up to the student's willingness to put certain tips and tricks into practice. Pneumonic devices, time-frame requirements and the difference between knowing facts for a test and truly comprehending subject matter.

About Randy

I have always been an actor first, it is the craft and discipline in which I hold my advanced degrees; it is my first and eternal love. There really isn't much more one could add to such a claim. Simultaneously I have believed a teacher is born, not bred; and I was born to be in theatre, and now, w

First off. Just want to say that we had to cancel our first session. However, I really like this guy because he had kept it real and set it straight on the reason why the session was cancel. He was very sick that day and he didn't want to be involved with the session not being at 100%. Respect! I wouldn't have wanted him not being at his best either. Takes alot of guts for a person to confess that. I really appreciated the honesty because that explains how passionate Randy is about the craft.
Second of all, when we did our first session, I had to deal with a rough technical patch of trying g to join in for the session. He had no problem helping me with this technical glitch rather than allowing TakeLessons (who I was unable to reach because of matainace issues), to handle it. He helped 5he TakeLessons team. A plus Randy! Though I had to finally use another device to finally join the session, Randy was still willing to have patience and help me with the tech problem.
Lastly, Randy brought a warm feeling to the session and yet sincere. He made me feel welcomed, which opened me up more during this session. This helped because I am uncomfortable with improv but want to get better. He understood this and gave a real honest approach. Also, he informed me that we were going to get a gist of my performance level and work from there. Furthermore, we were going to ease our way into improvement. This gave me alot more balance than other improv classes. He is even willing to give me a little homework that I can practice in prep for next week.
Randy is very encouraging and I enjoyed our first session. I'm exited for next week!

Need better scores? Or just help with homework? Contact me!

To help you reach your personal academic goals, (whether it be pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trig, pre-Calculus or Calculus, SAT, and/or the ACT test preparation, or may be GRE preparation for an older audience) I will find your weak topics and help you understand it fully. For that, I analyze your previous work and we discuss what you did and why. I will help you to see the logic in the solution and understand the relationship between concepts. Between sessions, I will happily answer short questions off the clock by email, or Skype.

For the SAT/ACT test takers my plan is usually for a student to take the practice test at home or school, then grade it and come back to me with the results. We will diagnose your problems (as in “didn’t have enough time”, “don’t know how to approach a problem like this”, “didn’t read the problem carefully”, “made a calculation error”, “didn’t know the definition” and so on) and work ...

"We originally solicited Rod's support in order to help get our 8th grade daughter up to speed in math class. With high school rapidly approaching, we wanted to ensure that her footing was solid for the rigors of the high school curriculum. As the New York State testing approached, we asked Rod to take some time in the weekly sessions to work on test-taking skills and to do a bit of brushing up on skills that my daughter may run into trouble with. I had my daughter take last year's 8th grade state test (which I found a copy of online), and asked Rod to review her work and help address the learning gaps. Rod's approach was to help my daughter recognize that she actually did know how to do many of the questions that she answered correctly, and with helping her reframe some of the questions, she was able to recognize that the test was not in fact, blind siding her which did wonders for her confidence. Rod spent ample time discussion stress reduction techniques, both before and after the test. As an incredibly supportive gesture, he followed up with us after each of the test days in order to inquire as to how she did, and show she was feeling overall. Rod's contribution definitely helped alleviate her anxiety and bolstered her confidence. By the end of the test she felt confident that she had performed to the best of her ability."

"My family and I appreciate Natalie so much. I recently PASSED my Reading (Score:44) and Math (Score:52) section in the CBEST exam!!! She has been very patient with me throughout the entire process of reviewing for my CBEST exam. She has helped and guided me all the way. She has provided me excellent materials that I used to help me review for my exam. The first time I took the test, I did not pass, so Natalie provided me additional exercises on material covered between sessions; it is an added plus and surely accelerated my overall progress. She would always remind me to always take my time, read the test questions carefully and double check my answers! During the exam I did exactly what she said and it worked!!! Everything that was on the CBEST exam are the ones we reviewed together. Natalie, you are just THE best - thank you so much for all that you did for me! I will miss our review sessions! I highly recommend her - anyone who would hire her will be in great hands!"
