About Gina
As of May 10th, I am in New York City. I will be accepting new students for the summer months either in NYC or online.

I am studying Music in The Mills College Music Department and Center for Contemporary Music; in pursuit of my second MFA, specializing in Improvisation. My main instrument is Voice; I also study piano. That will add to my BFA in Dance from The Juilliard School, an MFA in Dance and my other fancy pants pedigrees!! I teach Music Improvisation as well as many other aspects of music and the list of subjects below.

I graduated from Juilliard in dance and pursued modern dance and all sorts of theatre, dance/theater, music/theater, experimental, modern and classical theater, post modern and modern dance. I have taught children and grown ups for many years. I have a strong performing career and love the way teaching ke
eps me in a giving and learning place.

*** Lesson Details ***
With beginning students I am very laid back and patient and believe strongly that in the play of games and experiments technique will develop and manifest. As the student becomes more advanced I become more demanding as do the materials. As an acting teacher I have an advanced capacity to take students along all the way to professional and beyond. I am a member of the Actors Studio, the performing unions and studied since childhood at ACT and then all over the world including The National in London.
In Singing and Piano I can be valuable to the beginning level and will want to send them to another teacher as they progress beyond my ability.
In dance I have a wide knowledge and can teach several forms as well as history and materials. In Juilliard I specialized in historical dance of the French Court which is also known as pre-ballet. At present I am studying Tango and other ballroom forms and can teach the beginning levels as well as help choreograph for weddings or events. Of course I can also teach Ballet and many forms of Modern Dance.I adore teaching dance composition. To help a dance student make dances is very very fulfilling to me. I work with other media to inspire, using painting and painters, poetry, sound and dream, ideas and desires. All to contribute in making a dance.
In Visual Arts I can teach Abstract Painting, Installation and Performance Art. I have taught children and adults and have a way of bringing the body's expression into the act of making visual art that I and my students find very successful.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have supplies and space. Visual Art students need to contribute to materials by finding or purchasing whatever they like and adding to the mix. My students are welcome to use what I have here and I am always adding materials. Many people throw away materials that are perfectly good for art making so keep your eyes open and you'll find all kinds of good things. Visual Art students need to book a 2 hour minimum and I will lower the price if you just let me know you need it.

*** Travel Equipment ***
just a space to work in - we can create a work space out of any space.

*** Specialties ***
In dance I teach classical ballet principles for beginners or those who are returning and want to work carefully and privately. I teach from the tradition of Alfredo Corvino's principles of relationship to organic forms and structures for sound development. I studied with Mr Corvino for years and continue to study with Ernesta Corvino.
For acting I teach a combination of classical acting technique with American sense memory and relaxation skills. I am well versed in the teachings of Lee Strasberg and then spent time in London to 'fill in the cracks' of my training with analytical skills as well as the various european influences that the Royal National embrace.
I teach creative discovery in combination with classical devices so the student can discover their own artistry while learning actual classical devices for accomplishing specific goals.

Gina is great! My 14 year old daughter loved her. She helped her work on several techniques and scenes in preparation for an audition. I would definitely recommend her for various levels of experience.
She loves the craft and it shows in her teaching. Shes tough but so loving and enthusiastic.

I have had the opportunity to learn acting with Gina and it has been great so far. When I signed up for the lessons, I signed up with Gina because of her credentials as I never had an encounter with her. From my first class itself she has taught me a lot about acting specially stage acting and that too with great enthusiasm. I now feel like pursuing it further. She is quite knowledgeable specially in her field and every moment that you are in the class with her, you are learning something new. I would highly recommend her, doesn't matter if you are just getting into the field or trying to set your advanced level stage, her talents will teach you something new that would take you to the next level. I hope you can take advantage of learning from a Great Artist like Gina.
P.S. She is a great Dancer and a great Musician.

Good Luck!

About Patrick
The Vocal Artist

A rare 'natural' tenor, Patrick's range and versatility are evidenced throughout his work. From Bach Cantatas to Broadway tunes, he's even dared to sing Denver, bringing audiences to tears with his own rendition of Annie's Song. He is a torch song tenor, a la Rondstadt's 'Round Midnight but with the power and passion of Pavarotti.

Like most classically-trained tenors, Patrick can list many of the master works among his repertoire. Starting with Michigan Opera Theatre's Opera-in-Residence program, he performed in Madame Butterfly, Die Fledermaus and The Mikado and others. In Detroit & Windsor Ontario, he performed Bach, Schubert, Handel, Dubois, Mozart and Dvorak. While Patrick's early career focused on classical sacred performances, his real passion is to re-create traditional music in new ways. He recorded his
first two albums with composer Yves Vincent of San Diego, California in genre-stretching new-age/classical style.

After relocating to Tucson, Arizona, as music director for his church, he encouraged a variety of styles and genres to be used by the musicians and choirs of each of five weekend Masses.
Later, in Illinois, he directed another 60 voice parish choir that frequently performed with orchestras from Illinois State & Wesleyan Universities. His voice students in all these locations have been encouraged to explore and develop their own unique expression of their favorite music, while building on a solid foundation of technique, vocal strength and musicianship.

Now that Patrick has relocated one more time to Los Angeles, CA, he is working on a 3rd and 4th CD and once again accepting students. He enjoys the opportunity to expose young & older talent to the power and passion of classical music while also helping them create ways to make it new and exciting by reinterpreting it with their own favorite genres.

Lessons

Patrick's passion for teaching comes from his philosophy of music:
"Music is humanity's most evolved form of expression and communication. Music includes language, our physical senses, and our sense of meaning. With music, ordinary language is ultimately transcended. Words communicate from mind to mind; music communicates to the depth of the soul."

Patrick teaches and encourages young beginners as well as coaching and challenging seasoned professionals. He has even taught a hearing-impaired student to use physical sensation rather than sound to sing on pitch! He focuses on fundamentals of breath, technique and strength to help singers take care of their irreplaceable instrument. (Patrick's own vocal coach, Edward Kingins, continues to perform and move audiences in Detroit well in to his 70s!) Along with helping students build a strong foundation, he nurtures a love and commitment to music by working with students in the style and genre they enjoy most, from rock to pop, jazz or country.

Patrick also has unique insight into the entertainment industry, both in Los Angeles and across the country. Over the years, he has been associated with and close friends with musicians and actors such as John Denver and Richard Hatch as well as sought-after speakers Tom Crum and W Mitchell. Since locating to L.A., he has worked in independent movies with Damian Chapa and David Carradine as an actor and production assistant and coordinator. This experience, coupled with his own success on stage and as a recording artist helps him guide and advise serious young talent to maneuver the crazy environment of Hollywood and avoid the scams and pitfalls of the entertainment industry.

Beginning Lesson Outline

My Basic lesson outline is to determine where we are starting with each student and custom make lessons designed to fit the needs for that student. We will also work on meditation and visualization techniques for performance. The idea is for you to feel the words and sing with passion or so your audience believes your song.

Unlike other instruments, your voice cannot be replaced if it is damaged. I take the time needed through each step of the process so your voice is strengthened and developed properly. It is up to the student to practice and apply what is learned and build a trained, strong instrument that will be useable for your whole life.

You will learn:

Proper breathing techniques and practice.
Properly warming up the voice.
Working on music theory (reading music, etc.)
Ear training and pitch.
Expression, phrasing and performing.
Applying techniques learned to music suitable for student's capabilities.
Learning to have fun and enjoy the music experience.
Confidence and self-esteem

Depending on student's progress, specific lesson components above will be emphasized so that the student's goals will be achieved.
My goal is to prepare you to the best of my ability for you to achieve your dreams.

Awesome!

I needed to practice a solo for my Easter Vigil Psalm performance, and he helped me take care of my instrument, taught me great exercises, and gave me good advice about my career. He is a very nice instructor. He will help you grow as a singer and performer, and you always learn something new everyday with him...I highly recommend him to everyone because he really knows music theory.

"From your mouth to Patrick's ear*...

I was looking for an experienced and patient teacher, one who really listens, and am lucky enough to be able to work with Patrick. He not only hears the singing, but has the flexibility and talent to adapt to the needs and concerns of the singer. Highly recommended. *"From your mouth to G*d's ear," is a Jewish expression meaning, "May what you just said be true!"

I offer fun, creative, serious ways of learning how to be a complete musician, I am able to teach you how to play piano at a beginning to intermediate level, guitar, mostly beginning level, voice any level but not expert yet in all of this and so that is why I take
lessons myself in NYC to always get better. I am trained in the classical methods, but happy to experiment with others. I believe a solid technique in any level is the foundation and then, if you need more expertise, I am happy to refer you to others I know who teach in that style.

Each lesson , depending on your age, will have some kind of technical work, such as drills, work on whatever level you are at in music theory, sight reading, musicality and all components that would make you a complete musician, as I have been trained You will also have some FUN because it just would get boring and then practicing would be a pain instead of inspiring you. Games, little fun tests spelling musical words and the like,.

*** Studio Equipment ***
So, yes, great equipment at various studios that I can teach at all over the NYC metro area. If curious, for piano lessons, can use a portable keyboard as well as a "regular " one :)

*** Specialties ***
Mostly classical, but have at times worked with some Broadway singers, got them to sing technically correct, then referred them to a more appropriate teacher.

LESSON DETAILS

Whether you are a parent looking for instruction for your child, or for yourself, Rachel can customize the right program that best suits your needs. Her students come from all walks of life and have different goals, but they all have one thing in common. They love performing and have the desire to be the best at their chosen craft (singing/acting).

Some students want to sing/act for themselves, others want to sing/act for a hobby, and others want to be professional performers. That's where Rachel comes in. No matter what your goals are, she can help. Rachel teaches her students how to become true artists without tearing them down and without taking away the part of them that makes them unique. She teaches healthy technique that is based off of the human anatomy; the science of how the body/mind works and how the body/mind can work as efficiently as possible while singing or acting.

Learning how to sing/act is a process and doesn't happen overnight. Rachel's ultimate goal as a teacher is to not only make her students the best performers and singers they can be, but also give them all of the proper tools they need to have a more productive mind frame and become self-sufficient. Of course this can take years to master. It takes time and dedication.

OTHER LESSON INFORMATION

SINGING: Bel Canto singing technique for the modern singer is taught in private and group classes. No one sounds like old opera singers, even if the student wants to sing opera. Students are allowed to choose most of the material they learn in the lesson. There will be times when Rachel will suggest a song to a student but if the student doesn't enjoy the song, they will work as a team to find a song that does work for the student. Gain a better tone quality, complete control of your voice, bigger range, more flexibility, and confidence. Learn healthy voice technique, how to fully take care of your own voice so you can sing for the rest of your life (even after lessons), and become a self sufficient performer for life.

ACTING: Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, and Meisner Acting Technique for Theatre/Camera is taught in private and group classes. All students are exposed to each technique and Rachel sees which technique each student responds to the most. Once the student and Rachel are able to identify the technique, Rachel continues to use the terminology of that technique for the remainder of the time the student is in lessons. Students eventually are able to play roles truthfully and realistically, even if the roles are opposite of the student's own personality.

BY THE TIME STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM LESSONS:

1. Gain a lifelong, solid, consistent, and healthy technique that they can always count on in practice and performance.

2. Gain specific technical and personal notes in a notebook and/or computer file that is organized and always accessible for review.

3. Gain artistry, performance skills, and a strong voice that will look/sound authentic; Singers will sound appropriate to whatever style of music they are singing. (No fake sound or look.) Actors will just be in the moment and truthful whether they are on stage or in front of the camera.

4. Gain the confidence to always put on a great performance.

5. Gain focus and a more productive mind frame.

6. Become self-sufficient by knowing how to assess a problem and then fix it without creating a new issue.

*** Studio Equipment ***
PRIVATE HOME STUDIO: Keyboard, speakers (smartphone, iPod, iPad), CD player, tape recorder/player, digital recorder, music stand, mirror, laptop, sheet music selections, HD video camera, tripod, video editing software, audio editing software, USB microphone, and high speed WiFi internet. Taking lessons with Rachel has been one the best decisions I've ever made. She not only has helped me with acting but has helped me become a better person. I've grown to understand myself and I've learned and done things I would never have done. And would never have been able to do. Her lessons will not only help you perform, they will help you in your everyday life.

Carolyn is an amazing teacher! As a beginning singer, she knows how to tailor lessons exactly to my needs. She does a spectacular job at accommodating the rock music style of singing I use in my song writing, recording, and performances, and is always clear about what's working for me and what I can improve, and how.

Furthermore, she has a strong song-writing and production background and has acted as a producer of sorts in the best way possible, challenging me to work outside of my comfort zone in order to help me package the music I've written into the best songs they could ever be.

She really knows what she is doing, is extremely personable, and I highly recommend her for anything music-related!

Carolyn was fantastic. She was very focused on the voice and helping me find mine. I sang in college and for quite a while in my adult life in choirs both classical and jazz groups and she helped me to start the path of finding out what my voice really sounds like.
I had a fabulous time for the time I spent in New York studying with her.

30 years of experience in theatre, television, commercials, voice overs and Indie films. I started coaching other actors in 2014, focusing on techniques for on-camera acting and film audition coaching. I have the inside scoop on how the professional acting world works and I help prepare all students for the challenges that come with the biz. One pager perk is that I am also a Casting Director for commercial, television and film projects in the Midwest. I'm always talent scouting.

About Jonna
When I moved back to Springfield, MO from LA a few years ago (Because the schools are better and my family is here), I immediately noticed a desperate need for film acting education. We have good theatre programs in town, but most of the actors weren't quite aware of how to transition that for the screen. I've been blessed to have a lot of practice and education for on-camer acting, so I decided to share what I know.

It's been a cool adventure learning how to teach, especially since I'm still a working actor. I get to take my own advice and see if works. I have primarily adult students in my weekly classes as well as private lesson students, and they have been brave enough to try many new things. We explore all of the popular techniques to find what works for us. Acting is a very special craft for strong people.

I tell all of my stude
nts, "You have to be STRONG if you want to tell the stories of the human condition." My first piece of advice to help you become a great film actor is: DON'T SHOW ME HOW YOU FEEL. JUST FEEL IT.

I love people and I'd love to work with you.

The voice is a crucial element in acting and is connected to our body, emotions, and attention. Unlocking the voice and breath is the key to a long and successful acting career. I believe that my training and attitude can help you find your breath and voice, and begin to unlock the doors where you know you belong.

I became a fan of Jacob's theatre work in NYC. It's always fresh and inventive, which is why I coach with him on my audition scenes. I primarily go in for tv/film work, but his classical training foundation and fresh perspective translate to the screen. If you're looking for affordable coaching with a cutting edge, up and coming artist- call Jake!

Want to be on T.V.? Love being on stage? Then this is the lesson for you! Many of my students (of all ages) can be seen on stage and appearing on major networks such as ABC, Netflix, FOX, TV ONE, BET , NBC & more! I have worked in casting for major television networks , stage productions and with top agents. I have years of on camera and stage experience. Our lessons are a discovery of creativity and loads of fun:-) We take our lessons seriously but the art of acting is having a safe place to play and explore and that is exactly what we will do! Hope to meet you soon :-)

About Natalia
Hi there! It is a pleasure to web-meet you 🙂
First, let me say I do NOT have all the answers but I am quite resourceful and have placed myself in the working rooms of talent agents, casting offices for major networks and production development. I am a “sponge” and soaked in A LOT of information that I am excited to share with you! (All ages wlecome)

Some see me as the best-friend/mentor they always wanted and other times I am compared to the personal trainer you need but always avoided. Either way my main focus is your ability to become your craft in an industry where your talent must meet determination in order for you to succeed.

My first goal is getting to know you:
The entire session is focused solely on you. We ask the hard questions in order to get the honest answers of where you are in your career . We assess your goals , set u
p general meetings( if needed) with agents, casting directors and create a plan of action for your career customized to your career goals

One on Coaching:
Workout those acting muscles with me! Improv, Scene Study, Audition Prep, Movement & Monologues are all offered. The acting muscles need to be trained, formed and maintained. I offers a brave, safe and affordable environment for you to do just that.

Joyfully,
Natalia

I first met Natalia when we were both students at the Actor's Group in Orlando. She helped me to get my first legitimate representation, which in turn led to my first SAG role and my SAG eligibility, but beyond that, she has been a source of inspiration and motivation and a true friend. She is what we as artists need to be to one another as we keep going in this industry. She is always positive, always willing to help, and genuinely wants to see everyone succeed.

Natalia is the mentor that every actor hopes for. She always goes above and beyond and is an incredible source of support and is truly an actor’s advocate. She has secured me a great deal of auditions and when I BOOKED by her referral, she was there for me every step of the way; we were a team. Natalia has helped me with my career goals, auditions, industry questions, agent referrals and help, taping, and above all we have developed a wonderful friendship. She has impeccable instincts, character, and talent. Natalia is an actor’s dream, and I feel so beyond blessed to have her guidance and support in my journey.
