Acting is such a broad term! What are your goals? Do you want to be in films? Do you want to do Shakespeare? Do you want to be in a sit com? Depending upon what your interests are and where you want to go, we will build a plan together. My philosophy on acting techniques is that they are tools to help you, not tests you pass if you're a good actor and fail if you're a bad one. Different techniques work for different people and it is our job to find out what inspires you.

I've worked as a professional actor for many years, performed on Broadway, have my MFA in Performing Arts, and my BA in Arts and Education. I was an assistant director to Tony-winner Sharon Ott and have written and produced my own work. I have experience in both stage and camera acting, which have specific technical differences, but are both a lot of fun once you get used to the medium. Audition technique, preparing monologues, and creating promotional materials are also things I can help with. Anyone who wants to ...

About Rebecca

My approach is both supportive and pragmatic, based on where each individual's skill set is right now and what your specific goals are. I've had the benefit of both formal instruction as well as a decade in the "school of hard knocks." Climbing up the ladder to earn my Equity Card on a Production C

A-mazing! She’s an awesome mentor! Her approach to singing is brilliant in the sense that she helps you explore yourself, your strengths and areas you could work on to improve. She helps you find and utilize your voice in a way that makes a unique artist. She digs in right to the foundation of singing (vocals) and performing. I am glad to have found her! And to add up, I never had a dull moment with her with her sense of humor and caring approach!

After a decade of directing plays and coaching actors, I know both what directors are looking for and how to help you deliver it. No matter where you are in your work, I'm patient, supportive, and will also give you that extra push to add more dimension to a scene or monologue. And of course - it's play! If it's not fun to do the work, why do it? We'll both work hard and have a great time.

About Emily

For the past decade, I've been a director and coach empowering performers to tell moving and thoughtful stories. I love helping people get a mainline to their passion, and working together to leave both you and your audience feeling connected and powerful. From Shakespeare to work pitches, I care d

Emily is smart, sharp, and savvy. She keeps the text at the center of the work, and is able to balance keen analysis with a truthful center -- and a silly and pun-ny sense of humor! She also cares about the world around her and how that relates to artistic work. So if you're looking for someone with clear text work, a strong theatrical background, and a curious, globally-leaned-in intellect and heart, she's the teacher for you!

I have a variety of specialties to offer prospective students. I base my lessons depending on what each individual students needs and then tailor our time based on those needs. I believe that acting is unique for each person and that there is no one method for each. Popular work I do is: text analysis, chakra work, Michael Chekhov image-center work, physical acting, clowning, and moment-by-moment particularization. I also work songs and Musical Theater pieces. I look forward to seeing how we can work together!

A classical education makes everything so much easier. There are basic classical rhetorical devices that are easy to use once you understand them and make acting so much more fun and simple. It is 'playing' after all and with these techniques that are just ages old and so ingrained in humanity and nature you will be delighted and challenged.

How to reach a modern audience. Scansion, the vital importance of this tedious exercise and how it can literally reveal deeper meaning. If your out there auditioning, you need at least two classical monologues of varying lengths, Shakespeare is what is usually expected and is still considered the pinnacle regarding the former and scenes as well. If you prefer a less practical approach, we can certainly attack the subject academically in the main, though academics are naturally included necessarily in the practical work as well. The bottom line is your lessons will depend on your experience, goals and abilities.

About Randy

I have always been an actor first, it is the craft and discipline in which I hold my advanced degrees; it is my first and eternal love. There really isn't much more one could add to such a claim. "Michael is a fantastic teacher! He helped me work on my Cleopatra among other great characters. He is focused, knowledgeable, passionate and has a profound manner in making the text accessible-current and personal. I used to have difficulty relating to a piece, the language intimidated me. Michael helped me to make the text my own, coming from my own heart. It changed how I worked on everything, both classical and modern."

"I've had the pleasure of working with Anthony for almost a year now and it has been the best decision I've ever made. Anthony is the type of teacher that knows your potential and will do everything he can to push your skills to the next level. He challenged me on my diction, reading lines out-loud, and taught me techniques on how to understand the character I was playing in ways I never would have thought. I can't say enough amazing things about him!"

"I was always afraid I couldn't learn Shakespeare, but Nicholas explained the intent on the word, the intent on the line. Soon, I was so caught up in the meaning of the lines and the story I was telling in that moment that I was able to engage in the role, smoothly, without worrying that I was performing Shakespeare. He broke it down so I could understand it, and then feel confident doing it. Highly recommend!"

"I`ve been taking Shakespearean acting lesson with Michael for a month now and I am very satisfied with him and his method.
Although, I have much of prior acting experience, I was quite unfamiliar with Shakespeare´s plays, lofty language and his metaphors, Michael helped me get to the essence of it very quickly.

He´s a very reliable and effective acting teacher. He`s also punctual, always arrives on time with a plan of what we are hoping to achieve in each lesson. His clear and structured method of teaching enables steady progression.
I definitely recommend him."

She put me at ease right away and from the very beginning showed such excitement to be working with me. She comes prepared, takes the session very seriously, but also has fun with it so time flies by. "As part of a summer training program, Sophia coached me on two Shakespeare monologues, and I absolutely loved working with her! She shared lots of valuable insight with me that helped me really dig into the text, personalize it, and connect with the characters on a deeper level. Her guidance helped me make lots of great discoveries in our sessions together, and I've been able to apply that guidance to lots of other pieces as well. I would work with her again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a monologue coach!"
