When most people think of chemistry, they usually think of that really hard class they took in either high school or college, and immediately begin frowning. Then when the world chemical comes up, it doesn't get much better as they think usually of poisons or toxins.
I love teaching people that chemicals make up everything in our world, even the most beautiful parts of it. From humans, to flowers, to the food we eat, it is all chemistry.
I always try and go beyond my lessons and show how the theories are more understandable when we put them into the concepts of our daily lives. We grow to appreciate this very challenging subject more when we begin to see for ourselves.
I bring a lot of outside resources and examples that hopefully make it a fun and well rounded experience for each of my students.
My musical experience began at the age of 4 on the piano. I have been classically trained for most of my life. I have performed on soundtracks, played with bands (in genres from Jazz to Metal), and accompanied choirs. I have taught intro to piano and music theory since the age of 15. Currently, I teach throughout the Dallas metroplex, play in several bands, as well as write music for Television and Film.
I see music as a language. Once it is mastered, it can be shared with anyone, anywhere. My goal as an instructor is to provide my students with an opportunity to discover their own musical potentials. From breaking the ice from playing for the very first time, to perfecting even the most structured and difficult pieces, I feel there are no limits. I feel comfortable teaching in any genre and always tailor my classes to match my studen
ts own individual learning style. In my lessons, I highlight important principles right from the start, such as posture, proper fingering, and rhythm training, to ensure no bad habits form that later are hard to break. As we become more confident in our playing, we transfer some of the traits contained within us. Those traits become the character and style of our "musical speech," which will help to define us as musicians. I recommend books and provide sheet music when we start learning songs. Learning music with me has been said by many of my students as, "the most fun they have ever had playing music."
In addition to music, I teach science in the subjects of Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology. I have my 200 hr yoga teaching certification and teach private class to aid people in living a healthy, fulfilling life.
Thanks again for reading my profile. Hope to meet you soon.

I can't recommend Melody enough! Melody teaches my 11 year old daughter piano once a week and we absolutely love her! She is highly professional while remaining accessible and fun. She is intuitive and skilled in helping my child grasp and practice the formal structures of playing and reading music, but she also remains flexible and open to the non-classical side of music! It is rare to find a teacher of this caliber.

Dr. Alan was super helpful and patient. He knows organic chemistry very well and can explain the material in a way that anyone can understand.

I was getting really discouraged with MCAT studying and practice, so I decided to contact Dr. Alan.
He is extremely knowledgeable in general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochem. He also knows how the MCAT exam is designed and written. He is a great source of information.
Furthermore, he prioritizes making sure his students understand why certain answers are wrong or right. He is very detail oriented and really wants his students to understand the material.
Dr. Alan tutored me online, and shared his screen with me while working out chemical reactions and problems. He then saved all of that work and emailed it to me, so I could refer to it later.
Dr. Alan definitely tries to provide his students with the resources to succeed. He sends his students extra practice as well as power points and tutorials on information that he knows is tested on the MCAT.
I am very glad I contacted Dr. Alan, because he is a very dedicated caring teacher, and he really wants his students to do well. I would recommend him to anyone who needs some guidance on the MCAT!

I took tutorials on general chemistry with Dr. Alan for one term. He always went extra miles to make sure that I was prepared for my tutorial sessions by sending me enrichment materials on topics that were covered in my class beforehand. He accommodated my learning style and was able to provide supplemental lectures as I requested, which I appreciate tremendously. He was also always very prompt in responding to my emails. He doesn't always provide direct answers when you ask questions, but provides guidance in a way that makes you think -I believe this is essential in learning. I would recommend tutorials with Dr. Alan if you are keen on learning and truly want to comprehend your subjects of interest well.
As a bioengineer, chemistry is a cornerstone for so much of what I do on a daily basis. Whether you need help on electron configurations, balancing oxidation states, ionic equilibria or anything in between, I've got you covered. It's easy to understand chemistry when you are learning it from an enthusiastic teacher with a deep understanding of the concepts, and that is precisely what I strive to be.
Hello there! My name is Colin, and I have five years of experience tutoring math and science. I am a PhD student in the UC Berkeley-UC San Fransisco joint bioengineering program. My strong background in STEM qualifies me to tutor math and science up through lower-division college courses. Aside from my academic qualifications, I believe that it is my genuine passion for math and science that makes me an effective tutor for students of all backgrounds.
As a tutor, my goal is not to impress students with how much I know. Rather, my goal is to show my students how easily math and science concepts can come to them when they are presented the material in a straightforward way. The late physicist, Richard Feynman, posited that the ability to explain complicated ideas in a simple manner is the true mark of understanding. I agree with this a
ssertion, and I make it my goal each tutoring session to explain even the most complex phenomena in a simple way, so that my student will come away from the lesson invariably understanding it. Additionally, I emphasize a strong understanding of the fundamentals, because both math and science are heavily inductive disciplines; many of the theorems and laws are founded on other, more fundamental principles. I have personally experienced the discouragement of trying to learn material that is beyond my preparedness level, and so I can empathize with students who are in that boat. Fortunately, I have learned that the remedy is always a return to, and a strengthening of the basics. That is the approach I take with students who find themselves struggling in a course.
My online teaching platform is a “black board” drawing program that my students can follow along with as I explain concepts and solve problems. I simply share my screen with them during the session, and at the end, I take a screenshot of the notes and email it to my students for their reference. I hope this brief explanation of my qualifications and teaching style has provided a clear image of what you can expect from me as your tutor. I am eager to hear from you and help you succeed in your academic goals!
I have experience tutoring chemistry at the high school, college, and graduate levels.
Tests: SAT Chem, AP Chem, MCAT Chem
My name is Aalok and I am a full time professional tutor. I can help students who are struggling, students who are looking to excel, and everyone else in between.
I strive for complete satisfaction and never charge for a session unless you are completely satisfied. I've even worked with other tutors and educators to hone their skills and improve their teaching styles.
I have over six years of experience working as a full time professional tutor. I have taught/tutored over 1400 students. I've taught over 600 students in a classroom setting and well over 800 students online. I've individually tutored well over 300 students.
I also have experience working with students that have ADHD, dyslexia, students with IEP's, and other documented learning disabilities. I don't have formal training in specialized education, but plenty of posi
tive experience. While other tutors may shy away from students who they think might be challenging to teach, I embrace these opportunities.
Awesome tutor! Breaks down concepts to make it easily digestible and works with your schedule. He gives you great tips that you can't learn from a book. He is very laid back and that helps with the crazy chaos of MCAT studying. Overall, well rounded in the subjects of the MCAT and would work with him again in the future if I needed. I would defintely recommend him for future MCAT test takers.

Aalok Shah's in depth knowledge of admission testing, coupled with his easy demeanor, made all the difference for our son as he prepped for the college process. In addition to advising our son on the proper material to study, Aalok taught him to strategically tackle each section and manage his question answering time accordingly. He set up realistic weekly goals for our son to meet as well as providing many study guides and materials for his reference. We found Aalok’s advice on college planning extremely useful and he was always readily available to answer any questions that we had. Aalok’s calm and encouraging personality eased the stress surrounding standardized testing. This fall, our son will join the Rutgers University inaugural Honors College Class of 2019 with a full tuition, room & board scholarship worth $102,400. We are extremely grateful to Aalok for the integral role he played in making this happen. We cannot recommend Aalok highly enough to any family who is embarking on the college pathway.

I can't say enough about Aalok. His wealth of tutoring experience is certainly a major advantage, however his dedication and work ethic was what impressed us the most. What started out as just a few tutoring sessions for physics evolved into a wonderful relationship, guiding my son through his SATs and ACTs. Unlike many tutors' rigid availability schedules, Aalok went out of his way to work with my son's demanding high school schedule. He established a sincere rapport with my son and continues to touch base with him even now that he's at college. I am happy to recommend Aalok -- he is an exceptional young man and an excellent tutor.
Chemistry is both fun and fascinating, which is lucky because it's a really important prerequesite. I've completed four semesters of Chemistry at Harvard as part of the Pre-Med curriculum - General Chem I & II, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry.
The most important attributes of any teacher are empathy and patience.
I currently attend Harvard University and work as a professional writer and tutor. I've lived all over the United States, although I grew up in Scotland of all places. My scores on the SAT and ACT were perfect (1600 and 36 respectively), though I too had to work hard to get there, so I know what it's like when you're just starting out.
Over the years, I've worked with students suffering from ADD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, speech disorders, and depression; I personally grew up inured to social anxiety, so I can always empathize.
Some tutors will tell you that they know all the tricks and shortcuts. But really, there are no tricks. No shortcuts. Just hard work and sleepless nights and talking to yourself while brushing your teeth in the morning
I have a decade of experience and a vast collection of study materials that I can share with you for free. I've had the privilege to help hundreds of students with everything from college applications and essays to Creative Writing and Calculus, not to mention the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, ASVAB, and AP and SAT II subject tests, like Literature, Statistics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry as well.
I absolutely love writing, of course, so I can teach you how to write an action scene or listen to a poem.
Very intellectual and patient ... Cares and wanted to help .

Simeon has been an absolutely invaluable resource for my SAT prep. His encouragement is appropriately supplemented by challenging material and (appropriately) challenging expectations. He manages to make studying for the SAT fun rather than a laborious task and I could not recommend him more.

My daughter's score increased by 130. Thanks SImeon!
With over 12 years of experience as a Chemistry Teacher, one of my passions in life is the opportunity to share knowledge constantly, as well as, to help individuals eager to improve even when some details appear to be insignificant. At the age of 19, I formally started working with students of all ages, as a professor of Exact Sciences including Chemistry at the Stephen W. Hawking Institute in Ecuador, my home country. We all should be determined to find an objective/career that would be our passion and reflects our life goal as well. This perspective encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone to move to USA thanks to an Ecuadorian scholarship which financed the commencement of my journey in Environmental Eng. focusing on Nanotechnology at Vincennes Univ. IN. There, I had a training at different Departments as a STEM, English and Spanish tutor; which eventually, gave me the chance to learn about the teaching-learning process of Higher Level Chemistry classes as General ...
I am a Science teacher besides my experience as an English and Spanish tutor, working in this field for more than 6 years. I graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate Degree in Environmental and Ecological Engineering. Currently, I am pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering at The National Polytechnic University, also known as EPN in Quito, Ecuador.
At the age of 19, I started working as a professor of Abstract Reasoning and Exact Sciences at Stephen W. Hawking Institute in Ecuador, my home country. Eventually, I had the opportunity of training at different Departments as a STEM , Spanish and English tutor at Vincennes Univ., IN, USA from 2016 to 2018.
I strongly believe that we all should be determined to find a career that would be our passion and reflects our life goal as well. This per
spective encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone to become a scholarship student sponsored by Ecuador’s government on 2015; that very August I started my studies at USA. That opportunity represented the commencement that I was looking for my journey Environmental Eng. focused on Nanotechnology.
All these once in a lifetime events have maked me realize that one of my passions in life is the opportunity to share knowledge constantly, as well as, to help individuals eager to improve even when some details appear to be insignificant. Indeed, the process of teaching-learning actually represents such an enriching academic and personal experience.
Assuredly, obstacles really do not matter when we strive for more innovation and knowledge, because the universe always falls in love with a stubborn soul; so let's get started!
I have a BS in this subject and experience tutoring this in the past.
With 10+ years of tutoring experience under my belt, I've developed a teaching style that is supportive and compassionate, but also no-nonsense. I help students work to the highest level of their capabilities, providing expert knowledge and encouraging them to be active participants in their learning.
I have a BS in Biology from the University of Minnesota as well as an MD from St. George's University. Given my background, I'm very comfortable tutoring in the areas of math and science. In addition, I have received specialized training on prepping for standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT, GMAT, and MCAT and can help students navigate the ins and outs of these challenging exams.
Anthony is a thorough professional and devoted tutor. My teenage daughter, who is homeschooling and takes 1 or 2 intensive courses at a time, was able to swiftly move through the geometry material with the excellent instruction and guidance of Anthony as her teacher.
May 4, 2019
I have referred several students to Anthony in subjects ranging from AP Physics to ACT prep. He is highly skilled in the subjects he teaches. Just as importantly he is very empathic, and kids enjoy working with him. He is kind with them while still being able to keep them focused and on track.
I have taught physics, chemistry, and math (from simple calculations, algebra, and geometry through to calculus) in classroom settings and as a tutor for over 10 years, before which I studied and worked as an environmental engineer. With the sciences, particularly, I find it helpful for students to understand some of the history of the evidence for why we currently think the way we do. For instance, it's useful to trace how people used to think about atoms and how they do now, especially looking at the evidence for why that model of an atom has changed.
At my school, I was the teacher infamous for answering a question with a question in order to lead the student from what they already know through reasoning out an answer, which can sometimes take a little more time and effort than just giving the student the answer. Research proves that this is the best way to solidify your learning for deep mastery, though. Don't worry - I won't let you get too frustrated or ever abandon you
Initially trained in environmental engineering, I made the switch to teaching after spending two years as a volunteer teacher abroad. From there, I went on to earn my Masters in Teaching at Seattle University and to teach at public and private schools for the last 10+ years. I've tutored elementary students for whom English is a second language in math, tutored calculus, taught geometry and algebra, high school physics, and introduced a new curriculum to my school for the honors chemistry class, which I also taught.
I'm a big fan of learning by inquiry (especially for science and geometry), which involves trying something out and exploring it a bit, then processing what you experienced through conversation and critical thinking. I understand that not every student is looking for this, though, so if you're just looking to get throu
gh tonight's homework, I'm there for you, too!
Though I'm originally from Washington State, I recently moved to Canada with my wife and three young kids. I'm a lifelong fan of J.R.R. Tolkien (author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings), hiking, permaculture, and enjoying our miraculous universe. We're hoping someday soon to build our own little hobbit-hole house homestead...
"Was very helpful and patient with lessons. Helped make my classes in school easy to follow. Highly experienced with Chemistry, and Calculus, and guarantee
d me good scores on the exams."
"Milka is really helpful!! Whether I understand the problems or not, I like it when she reviews them with me."
"Colin provided me with tutoring for chemistry, via FaceTime. Over the semester he was very flexible with my off-peak time schedules, and was EXTREMELY pat
ient to my questions. Using Colin for tutoring helped my grades and provided an overall great value. Thanks Colin!"
"Irfan is an outstanding tutor that I highly recommend. In less than an hour, he had my son understanding the concepts of chemistry that were frustrating
him. Even though we were in different time zones, Irfan made sure to accommodate our schedule. While I originally had doubts about the effectiveness of web tutoring, I can honestly state that Irfan made it effective by using screenshare. Irfan also went out of his to share web links that would help my son with the chemistry issues they were working on. Again, I would highly recommend Irfan if you are looking for a chemistry tutor! We will be using him again I am sure!"
"Milka tutored me in chemistry and I ended up with an A! She was so patient and always willing to help. Even if I had a question about homework I could tex
t her and she would help me out. She even had to leave town and was willing to skype or facetime. You can tell that she loves what she does. I highly recommend her as a tutor!! It was more than about money for her!"
"Loved every minute of my session. Akib keeps it so real. She helped me see the gaps in my lab and also assisted my in reshape my knowledge. Best Chemistry
tutor. Planning to reschedule for Chemistry 2."
"Craig is a marvelous tutor. For my twins, he brought up their MATH SAT 130 and 150 points respectively. With my middle schooler he has helped bring up her
SSAT to the 94% (percentile) getting her into our top choice. He is thorough and meticulous tutor teaching them how to find and fix their own mistakes."
"I liked the way he helped me understand chemistry he explained ionic and covalent bonds much simpler than my highschool chemistry teacher."
"Mr. Colin is an excellent tutor! He is the first tutor of many from whose teaching my AP Chemistry grades improved drastically. He is very easy going and
also easy to talk to. If you don't understand something, he will try to explain it in as many ways possible; just make sure to stop and let him know that you didn't understand the concept. I am very satisfied with his teaching style and therefore plan to have more lessons with Mr. Colin in college chemistry classes. I would 100% recommend him to anyone!"
