Voice Acting is a very specialized part of the industry, because your voice is all you have to rely on, and every little sound, breath and thought counts! In these sessions we’ll go over how voice acting differs from on-camera acting, creating and sustaining characters and voices for animation or video games, the nuances of narration and audio books and general voice and microphone techniques. I’ll also give you tips on how to improve your vocal control and take care of your voice for optimal performance.

About Hunter

I love to help new performers and people looking to break into the biz, as well as seasoned actors who want to up-level their career or deepen their craft. I have been coaching actors since 2008 and have a unique combination of experience and training to help you launch your career and create work

Hunter is a great teacher. She is really good at catching even barely noticeable pronunciation issues. She gives clear instructions on how to fix them. She is very knowledgeable about other countries and cultures which makes it easy for her to understand one’s accent. Thanks to her acting experience, she knows a lot of drills for relaxing the jaw and making your voice sounds more clear and crisp. It’s a pleasure working with Hunter and I am looking forward to continuing our sessions. I would definitely recommend Hunter to anyone who wants to improve their American English pronunciation.

David's class was interesting, challenging, and intellectually stimulating. I left feeling both energized and pleasantly spent. He is exactly the kind of Acting Teacher that I benefited from having discussions with about "the craft." Direct, curious, and thorough. It's also a class that I believe is accessible to actors of all levels, from novice to professional!

I hired David to work with teen and adult actors for a feature length film I directed. The impact that David had on the actors and on the success of the film have been phenomenal. He is a brilliant teacher! One of the teen actors said that he learned more from David in six lessons than he had in dozens of summer acting camps over the years. The adult actors were equally impressed. If you get a chance to work with David, I wouldn't miss it.

David is a "one-of-a-kind" Acting Coach! I have been a professional in the industry for the last 10 years, and I attribute most of my success to David. David encouraged me to lean into my own interferences and self-consciousness in terms of acting, in order to get more comfortable with the unknown and my fears. I attribute David to my success because through this classes I was able to gain the rarest gift any acting teacher can give their student: confidence. I am a braver artist, a more present actor, and even a better person thanks to David's classes. Not only did David influence me as an actor/artist, I use his lessons every day when I teach my own Acting Classes in Chicago. I highly recommend him.

Carolyn is an incredible teacher and a fantastic role model. Her encouragement, patience, skill and attention to detail has resulted in my daughter having learned (and continuing to learn) more than we could have ever imagined musically (voice/piano), and about performing on stage. Being Carolyn's student has also resulted in our daughter having more self confidence and higher self esteem. Carolyn brings out the best in her students and the dedication that she has for them is unparalleled. It has been a joy to watch our daughter grow as a musician under Carolyn's instruction.

Today what's the first lesson for my two girls with Carolyn. All I can say but the lesson was absolutely amazing my girls came out extremely inspired with lots of exciting homework to do they couldn't wait to show me what they've learned and couldn't wait to start practicing Carolyn was everything we were hoping for and a lot more. I have no doubts that would have made the best choice who could possibly make. My girls can't wait for their next lesson.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏

Introduction to Voice Acting: Books & Resources to Check Out

When it comes to the performing arts, voice acting attracts some of the most fiercely dedicated enthusiasts, despite the relative anonymity compared to acting on stage or on screen. In the old days, radio dramas were the most common inspiration for aspiring voice actors. Today, it’s animation. The key component of voice acting, even more than secrecy and seclusion, is versatility. An in-demand voice actor may be called upon to provide the pipes for a cartoon rabbit in a kid's show on Friday, …
