Let me start off by saying that math is my FAVORITE subject! In these tutoring sessions, you will receive help with homework, prepare for tests and quizzes, and better your overall understanding of math. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good work ethic.

About Jessie
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I hope to help you achieve your goals and improve your skills, whether you're looking for music lessons, or help in math. Every student is a unique person who
deserves a lesson customized to their individual needs. Each of my students prosper in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career, and the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of knowledge that will enrich their lives.

Experience:

I received my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the University of Redlands in 2011 (which I attended on a music talent scholarship), and am now an active performer in Los Angeles, CA. I have been tutoring and teaching private lessons for almost 10 years, and currently have over 40 active students.

I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Seussical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, and I could never live without it!

With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life they will achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

LET'S MAKE MUSIC!

In my time of need (I had a B- average), I was fortunate enough to receive Varna's tutoring support. Varna is clear ("Do this"), firm ("Don't do that") , AND exceptionally kind ("You can do this!") in her approach. Thanks to Varna, I was able to get an A+ in both Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. You are the best Varna, thank you!!!

Got an A!!!

I'm usually a horrible mathematics student but this semester I was taking calculus which is daunting on its own even for students who have been taking mathematics. I have had a 5 year gap from my studies and Varna has been excellent, she helped me work my way up from an F to an A!!! I would recommend her for ALL my future mathematics classes.

"Mathematics is not number, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about understanding"
- William Paul Thurston

About William
Meet Mr. Will
William J.N. Henderson been a musician for a very long time now. Started training in Beaumont, Texas from Ms. Cheryl Black at the age of 8. His mother knew that growing up as a single mo

William told his mother that he wanted to take piano lesson, because he never could take his eyes off the organ player at Compton Chapel Church C.O.G.I.C. After a few lessons from Cheryl Black, she ended up telling his mother that he was pretty good. After 3 years, Cheryl made him a student teacher.
In middle school, since he was already taking piano lesson his mother enrolled him in band. The only band student without a private lesson teacher made 1st chair in top band class in the 7th and 8th grade. 1st chair in 1999 Southeast, Texas ULL Region Honor Band. He made an 1 on ever solo competition from 7th grade to 12th grade. I am an individual who finds math fun, and energizing. I find it fascinating at how many different formulas exist, and how there are often multiple ways of deducing the same problem and finding the solution.

I can help lead my students into finding the best formula that works for them/they are able to understand. I can guide them towards finding the solution on their own, rather than someone just telling them the answer.

What I feel sets me apart from other math teachers, is that I excel with communicating with other individuals who face mental health challenges such as ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome/Autism Spectrum. I have been certified in the state of Georgia for over 2 years now as a CPS-Y (Certified Peer Specialist-Youth).

I, myself have Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD. So, I can 100% relate to a lot of the challenges my students may face in regards to math skills and providing an effective learning environment. The reason I call these challenges, and not disabilities, is ...

About Stefan
Info for the students:

Hi there. My name is Stefan. You can also call me Mr. Maurer if you prefer.

I am really excited to be able to teach you about Math. Math is something I find joy in a
nd am very passionate about.

One of my fondest memories was when my dad used to take me to stores, and if I could guess correctly what the change would be after he paid, I could keep the change.

One day he had only bought an item around a couple dollars and he had paid with a 20 dollar bill. Two things happened that day: I got almost 18 dollars. And, my dad never played that game again (because he did not want something like that to happen again, where I would make off with a lot of money, lol).

I would love the opportunity to teach you the math skills I know, and to get you just as excited about math as I am.

My classes are fun, and full of energy as well as knowledge. I guarantee that you will learn a lot, and have a great time doing so. 🤣

While it may be difficult, I have the confidence required to bring out the best in my students, since I, myself, have had lived experiences where I have overcome challenges, and tore down obstacles, despite having Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD.

I would love the opportunity to teach my students math and have them also find joy in the math I am so passionate about. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I am actually a well-established instructor here on TakeLessons and was thrilled to find out Stefan Maurer is teaching Math online! Stefan is everything he describes. I should know - he is my nephew. I have personally witnessed countless scenarios of Stefan making mathematical calculations which far exceeded his grade level.

Stefan is patient, kind, full of encouragement and pays great attention to detail, which is crucial in math. He also excels with students who have ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome or are on the Autism spectrum.

It is with great confidence that I highly recommend Stefan Maurer!
