Hi! My name is Avalon. I have my bachelors degree in fashion design and I’ve been making clothes for almost 10 years but I’ve been passionate about fashion for as long as I can remember. I started teaching kids how to sew one summer and I’ve been in love with it ever since. I have experience in both pattern making and draping and I own my own business where I make custom designs for customers. I am comfortable teaching students at all levels, so feel free to reach out.

Omg I so love the way she teaches. I was in need of learning how to sew from someone else but she did not help me the way she should’ve. So I found out about Avalons Sewing class and I loved it. Highly recommend you all to take a class or two with this wonderful human being

I started sewing at age 8 (thanks mom!)

I have a degree in technical theatre with an emphasis in costume design and technology. I design costumes for community theatres, opera companies and drag queens.

I helped teach sewing and costuming during my degrees. I believe in starting beginners with familiarizing themselves with their machines and how to read patterns.

I would love to share my years of experience designing, sewing and crafting with you!

"Dawn is an amazing sewing instructor. She taught my 8 year old daughter to sew her first quilt, which later won first prize at the Terryville Fair. Dawn is punctual, energetic, and patient. My daughter enjoyed every lesson and learned the fundamentals of sewing, cutting, and following patterns. Lessons were effective and fun."

"I am so happy that I found Mya! I had a very enjoyable lesson with Mya at her home. Mya is a very good teacher, with sensitivity to the particular needs of the student. Mya taught me pattern-making. She did so in a way that allowed me to first observe, then practice what I had observed. I came away with a usable pattern to make an item no longer available in stores.

Whether you are new to sewing or need help in developing new skills, you will find Mya able to meet you at your sewing level and you will end the lesson with enthusiasm for sewing and looking forward to your next lesson!!"

"my instructor Felicia was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, patient & extremely helpful. I learned so much in the half hour class. She was able to improvise when I was missing an important component to my machine. She truly is a genius. I scheduled another session at the conclusion of my 1st class, but find I must cancel due to physical problems. I am disabled with severe arthritis & her class is on the 3 rd floor. She carried my machine up for me & I made it up the stairs but when I got home later that evening my knees were so swollen I had to ice them & take pain medication. I know I cannot do that again & will let my instructor know it is not het fault."
