Beginner-You will learn basic skills of hand and machine stitching, seams, darts, pleats, zippers, pouch, tote bag and build many more samples into a scrapbook. **It is recommended that you have a Binder with transparent sleeves for sample techniques. Intermediate- Fabric dimension and behavior, cutting skills, bias binding, various necklines and making a skirt or blouse. Learn to make garment with commercial pattern. Advanced-Make dress, skirt, pants or blouse with lining. Or make home-decor items, e.g Cushion covers, throw pillows etc. Note: Although students learn at different rates, the above results are expected, if taking lessons at least 1hr per session, for 5sessions @ all levels. A session can be twice or once weekly.

I am a seamstress, costume designer, historical clothing expert and have worked in the film industry. I routinely perform costume repair work for theatrical companies, alterations for formal gowns and create/modify garments to use in film and living history events. If you are a beginner or advanced I can teach you to get better, more consistent results from your sewing.

I have over 20 years’ experience. I have been working for major fashion brands companies in NYC. I am experienced with working with beginners, intermediate and all levels. I am offering industry level sewing classes and pattern correcting and altering techniques that will cater to your needs. I will be able to teach foundation skills of how to operate a sewing machine, how to use a serger or how to use an industrial sewing machine. I will also teach how to hand sew, follow and understand a pattern and how to finish your work beautifully. I am also going to work with you on your own personal projects. I teach hands on beginner’s patternmaking and sewing skills that you will need for garment production, arts and crafts and any project that involves sewing. For instance: I can help you make pillows, bags, aprons, stuffed toys and other household items. If you want to make clothing, I will guide you through using a published pattern. I will work closely with you to make sure you understand the project and to make sure you properly construct a quality finished project. I have been sewing since I was in 3rd grade and was making doll clothes for my Barbie dolls and clothes for myself by the time I was in 9th grade. I also used to work closely with a Tailor/dressmaker as an apprentice during my summer holidays in 10th grade. Students are expected to provide all tools and materials.
