Learn to make the one-of-a-kind articles of clothing of your dreams. I will help you:

- Collect the necessary tools and learn how to use them

- Learn to read and work with a sewing pattern. I can coach you through just about any pattern you’re trying to make.

- Learn how to thread and use a sewing machine

You should plan to purchase the following supplies before our first lesson:

- A simple sewing pattern (I can help you find a good one suitable for a beginner before we meet)

- Enough fabric, thread, and other supplies to make the garment

- I can bring my own sewing tools and sewing machine for you to try, if you don’t have your own. This is a great way to help you decide whether this pastime is for you before you invest money in the necessary tools. If want to purchase your own tools before we get started, that’s great too!

About Eliana

I love to sew clothing, and I want to teach you to do what I do so that you can experience the same joy and satisfaction that I do from engaging in this amazing pastime. I am especially interested in working with beginners, and with anyone who is interesting in learning how to work with a sewing pa

I have taught fashion sewing in the NYC garment district for 11 years. Students ranged from teens to adults, aspiring designers, those interested in better-fitted clothes or in saving money with simple alterations. The method we use is very simple working on basic projects to increased skills as projects progress. I love sewing because it’s therapeutic and rewarding. Getting a compliment on something I’ve made is rewarding especially when followed with, “Thank you. I made it.” Sewing truly is something you can control when the world feels out of control.

When I teach classes it is so important to me that everyone completes a project no matter what. Learning a new skill takes requires willingness, a great teacher with patience and a cheerleader.

Now that I've been sewing for 6 years, I constantly wish someone would have taught me as a child. There's nothing like the sense of accomplishment you have from making your own clothes or altering a garment that didn't fit or giving a gift to someone you know no one else has. To be able to give that to someone else is what I dream about. Whatever your motivation for learning how to sew, I'd love to be instrumental in teaching you! All ages and skill levels welcome!

About Amber

Hi! I'd love to be able to help you on your journey of sewing. It's such a magnificent skill to have and there's nothing like the joy of making something yourself. Even if the end result isn't what you imagined or "good", the process from start to finish is one of the most life-giving and rewarding

Amber is very sweet and polite. She also listens and makes sure she understands what my expectation is. Besides my background of sewing, I also have limited English efficiency that I worry a little. Thank you so much for being kind and patient to me Amber. ❤️
