I pioneered a private Arts Academy drama school for 4 years, and am now teaching acting and directing at a middle and high school. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.

Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy.
My husband also owns Sound waves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.

I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).

About Rebecca

Greetings! I am super excited to be building a private and small group lesson platform at our home studio and to meet your personal acting needs! I recently stepped down from 2 years of full time drama and art at Lumos Arts Academy- a private school I played a role in pioneering- to focus on bui

Rebecca has been monumental in helping me to develop my voice acting skills. She has helped me realize how important understanding/effectively executing traditional acting is to be able to deliver quality voice reels. I’m excited to be able to start constructing my reel at their studio.

I have been in the acting profession for 35 years - primarily Classical Stage and Voice-Over acting. I have taught on many levels and for different ages including workshops for high school students and university level conservatory programs. I have also taught adults in both Shakespeare and group Voice-over classes (at a Professional Studio). I love what I do and love teaching it to others.

At present, I create, preformed and produced my own audio work and have found that it is incredibly beneficial to learn something new or invest time in a subject or skill that you are interested in.

About Corliss

I am an actress that has performed and taught for over 35 years. I love it! I can help you prepare for auditions, study structure, develop skills, get over fears of speaking in public or simply reach a deeper understanding of your favorite texts. As for teaching voice-acting for voice-overs, I

I initially had Corliss as a voice over teacher in a class, then decided to further my work with her as a coach and producer to create my voiceover demos. We covered all aspects of voiceover, including the physical: posture, microphone placement, etc., which I believe really enhanced my understanding of how physicality comes across via the voice. With her classical acting background, she was able to help me improve my overall speaking technique and provided me with vocal exercises to help minimize my regionalisms.

She was diligent in reviewing competitive demos to guide me to a variety of written copy and voice/energy levels that will help my demos stand up to those with more experience. She provided valuable advice regarding selection and use of materials for the demo and beyond as well as insights on the voiceover business.

I’m very pleased with the results of the two demos and expect to continue to take advantage of her coaching services as I grow in my new career.

Corliss is a master at her craft! She makes you feel comfortable from the moment you meet her and has a genuine interest in your goals. Corliss tailored lessons to my learning style which was very encouraging for someone with my level of experience. She has a lovely personality and her enthusiasm is infectious. I would highly recommend taking lessons from Corliss!
Steve
I took a five-session Beginning Voice Acting class with Corliss in a professional recording studio. The critiques she gave me after every recording I made helped me to speak more clearly, and to increase the energy I was able to put into my recorded presentations. Without the critiques of my recordings, I would not have been able to improve my speaking ability. During the class, she made sure everyone in the class was made to feel welcome, and important. When I take the next level of the Voice Acting class series, I will be looking forward her critiques of my recorded presentations.

I have a B.A. in Theatre from Centenary College of Louisiana, and have taught acting with the Talented Arts Program in Louisiana public schools for 6 years. I have also offered private and group lessons, camps, and workshops locally for more than 10 years. In addition to an accredited college education, I have extensively studied and performed Shakespeare and studied improvisation with several instructors and professionals in the Chicago area. Melanie is an absolutely incredible vocal teacher/coach. I noticed a change in my voice after just the first lesson. Her vast knowledge of the anatomy used to create vocal sounds combined with the techniques she teaches has definitely improved my voice. She taught me how to belt and showed me the difference between my belt and my mix, which was beyond helpful. She also taught me how to sing in my head voice in a healthier and more effective way. And on top of that, she has a mental library full of great song recommendations for my individual voice. Can't wait until our next lesson!

"Mr. Patti was a wonderful instructor. I loved how he went beyond the course to provide life lessons and career advise.

During our sessions, he had me practicing on a professional-style microphone, recorded me performing commercials from scripts, and provided feedback and constructive criticism that helped me to grow as a communications student.

I would highly recommend Mr. Patti to any student looking to improve their voice, their stage-presence, presentations, or public-speaking skills."

"My 16 year old daughter has been taking online lessons with Kelsey for 2 months now and it is all she talks about!!! She adores and respects Kelsey as a person, a teacher and a career coach. Her confidence level is increasing and this in itself makes me thrilled to have made this inverstment in her. Therapy sessions are great, however, when you are able to find a coach and instructor that helps your child find their inner confidence and heart song through something they love, well, there is nothing better than that! Thank you, Kelsey! As we all know, it is not just knowing how to do it or even doing it - execution style is everything and you have sincerely won my daughter’s heart!"

"I tried several other voice acting teachers on this site before I came across David. And I can say with absolute confidence that he is the best teacher on here. David is kind, helpful, and an incredibly down to earth guy. Most teachers throw you in expecting you to understand their methods like I'm some kind of savant. David however, gives you material but also tells you why he gave you the material. He breaks down the process. Also, certain teachers will coddle you and give you fake praise so you continue to buy their program. And i'm not saying David doesn't give praise. But he gives meaningful praise. He is honest about when I lack in a certain aspect and tells me how to improve, while also giving my positive feedback on the things I am doing well. If you are on the fence about this teacher stop. He is worth every penny. If I got to do it over again I would have chosen him first in a heart beat for twice the money. He has rekindled my passion for voice acting and is actually giving my real hope that I can achieve my goals of becoming a real voice acting soon. I can not stress enough how wonderful he is as a teacher and that anyone and everyone who has a drive to learn acting should take his classes. I am continuing classes with him, but even when I'm finished (eventually) I will never forget what he taught me. Thanks David :)"

Introduction to Voice Acting: Books & Resources to Check Out

When it comes to the performing arts, voice acting attracts some of the most fiercely dedicated enthusiasts, despite the relative anonymity compared to acting on stage or on screen. In the old days, radio dramas were the most common inspiration for aspiring voice actors. Today, it’s animation. The key component of voice acting, even more than secrecy and seclusion, is versatility. An in-demand voice actor may be called upon to provide the pipes for a cartoon rabbit in a kid's show on Friday, …
