Edward and I had a horrible time trying to connect via the Take Lessons interface. I could see and hear him but he couldn't hear me. This being interactive doesn't work. We futzed with it for about 20 minutes and then went to Skype, which worked perfectly. Take Lessons needs to get their act together on their interface.

Once connected via Skype, we had an almost instant "buddy" connection. Eddie is really pleasant and very good at working with what you have, which in my case is not much. We spent the first ten or so minutes with me hitting simple shots with the cue ball only so he could study my "technique." He immediate spotted about three flaws and we spent the next thirty or so minutes working on grip, alignment, open and closed bridge (left hand use for a right hander) and ball striking for an on line shot. From there he had me shooting a simple cut shot explaining how to aim it, hit the spot and pocket the ball. I must have hit that shot for him 30 times with only ONE miss. The whole time he was giving me feedback on minor corrections and positive reenforcement when I got something right. We finished the hour with him giving me practice instructions for the next week and a brief conversation about sticks and tips. It turns out I lucked out and bought what he called "an excellent entry stick".

I played a match with a friend right after the lesson and applied what Eddie had given me in our lesson. I made a lot of shots I would normally not have expected to make utilizing Eddies instruction. I still lost the match (my friend is highly advanced) but gave him more of a game than normal, and won two out of five. I'm very pleased.

About Tony
Do you love to draw? Do you want to be an expert character animator? Do you know and want to apply the core, essential principles of movement to whatever animation style that most interests you? If so, I'm probably the perfect teacher for you! (Note, I DO NOT teach animation software. Instead I use simple drawing techniques to teach everything that underpins ALL forms of animation - whether they be traditionally hand-drawn, stop-frame, claymation or state-of-the-art computer approaches.) Perfect for the raw beginner, or even an ambitious professional who simply wants to take their work to the very next level! So let me introduce myself...

I am a British Academy Award winning animator who has made over 200 TV Commercials, 2 TV Specials, several Short Films, and ‘The Pink Panther Strikes Again’ movie titles at the beginning of my career
. From the outset I was personally taught by some of the most amazing master animators ever - Ken Harris ('Bugs Bunny' and 'Roadrunner' for Warner Brothers), Art Babbit ('Pinocchio' and 'Fantasia' for Disney) and Richard Williams (3 times Oscar winner). I later successfully ran my own award-winning London animation studio for 20 years, before moving to the States in 1998 to live and teach. In the USA I have taught at the highest college level for over 14 years, when I also became author of several respected books on animation, including - 'Animation from Pencils to Pixels', 'How To Make Animated Films', 'The Animator's Notebook' and 'The Animator's Sketchbook'. Animation schools and colleges around the world use my books. My own master animator reputation & expertise has been developed through traditional, hand-drawn (2D) animation for the film industry. However, I have since developed a whole range of teaching techniques that will help students of ALL forms of animation, whether its for the Film, Games, TV or the Web industries. The ‘core principles of movement’ are essential for all kinds of animation, whether it be 2D, 3D, Claymation, Stop-frame or any other kind. So I now focus less on technology and software, and more on the core principles of movement through ‘gesture drawing from observation’ and other means. In this way my students do not need to purchase extremely expensive equipment or software, they often need little more than a pencil, eraser and a sketchbook – with a lot of their own dedication they need to bring to the party. I am also insistent that students of animation also learn about fundamental design, layout, film structure and storyboarding - as all these are all essential to all great, animation. So I hope you will join me and become yet another of my successful students who are currently working in the animated film and/or video game fields today.

Tony White has the patience to watch inspired animators grow. His ideas feed into our concepts we have and he is the adviser that guides us to how our ideas become a reality on paper or on a monitor. He has assisted me to where I am today.

If I could be instructed by Tony White again and again, I'd never say no.

Donna was very personable and nice. I learned a lot from her and she made sewing less awkward for me. I went home immediately and tried my new techniques. I was able to complete another project from what I learned earlier that day. Donna’s great!

Hey there! Thanks for reading my profile! I am so excited to work with you and share my passion for creating custom items through sewing! I got my first machine when I was nine years old! It was instant joy! I love teaching! I love sharing tricks and helping others make their dream projects come true. As a mom and grandma I have enjoyed teaching my own kids to sew. I also work as a Birth Doula (coaching) and substitute teacher.

I have owned my own in-home sewing business where I performed wedding alterations, general alterations and custom sewing. My greatest love is to instruct students in the art of quilting and sewing. The accomplishment of a student's successfully finished project is such a highlight!

As a mother of twelve (* seven boys and five girls) I have created 75% of my families wardrobe as well as quilts, gifts, diapers
, jackets, pillows, purses, backpacks, workout wear, couch slip covers, curtains, toys, dolls...etc, There is nothing so satisfying then the ability to create something unique that you love. Let's get started on your next project!

About Barbara
I was born in British Columbia, Canada, but grew up here in the beautiful Puget Sound area of Washington. Sewing and fabrics were very much a part of my life for as long as I can remember! My beloved grandmother was an excellent seamstress, and I can remember the lovely garments she made. Her hands were always busy and she helped support her family of 10 children in Canada with her sewing during the Great Depression. One of my most cherished pieces of furniture is her old Singer treadle sewing machine. My grandmother's sewing talents were passed to my mother, who also made beautiful clothes for me as I grew up. I can remember endless shopping trips to the fabric stores where I was fascinated by all the colors and textures!

Eventually I began sewing my own clothing, and after I was married I worked for a time at the upscale Designe
r's Fabric store in Bellevue, WA. When my daughter was born, I found myself sewing dresses and doll clothing for her, just as my mother and grandmother had done for me. Sewing for children was so enjoyable that my mother and I opened a business called RuBarb Creations, where we made custom clothing for children. In 1995 I became the costume director for a private school. During the next nine years I costumed over 24 plays, including 7 major Shakespeare productions and 6 high school musicals.

For over 20 years I was a piano instructor, having taught many children to enjoy playing the piano. My love of teaching and working with kids, and my passion for sewing and the fabric arts led me to finally fulfill my dream of opening a sewing school, where I have taught for over 6 years. I have an Associate of Arts Degree from Northwest University and a BA degree in English/Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University.

My goal is to pass on the joy of sewing, so that others can be encouraged to explore the wonderful creative world of sewing! I hope to enrich lives, giving my students confidence, a sense of accomplishment, and a life-long skill that is slowly leaving our culture. In turn, I hope to inspire others to share their talents with those in the world around us.
