Nick is an excellent teacher. He has already improved my creativity and communication skills so much in the few sessions I've had with him. I've been able to step outside of my comfort zone and am a better actor for it. Thank you Nick for such encouraging words and your kind spirit. I can't wait to work together again very soon.

Victoria is bright, energetic and welcoming. As a teacher, she is patient and professional, while taking note of the students' individual needs.
As an artist, she is very skilled and I have benefited greatly from taking class with her. I'd recommend her to any one, especially beginners and kids. She creates instant rapport with children, and makes creative lessons that are really fun for any age.
Aurora
Victoria has an awesome sense of connecting the body and the voice. She’s affable, hard-working, and cares about her students. Victoria’s experience teaching children translated beautifully into adult vocal classes: all of the information was accessible and presented to us in a fun way. One on one, Victoria is both personal and professional. I’ve been taking voice for about 10 years and still managed to feel like I was learning the entire class.

I have been in this profession for 35 years. I have taught on many levels and for different ages including workshops for high school students and university level conservatory programs.

I believe that the theatre is an arena where we learn about who we are. Acting is being present in the moment and we learn how to live our lives more fully through this study. Each actor has his own unique voice and relationship to the material. It is my job to help each student find their own path.

About Corliss

I am an actress that has performed and taught for over 35 years. I love it! I can help you prepare for auditions, study structure, develop skills, get over fears of speaking in public or simply reach a deeper understanding of your favorite texts. As for teaching voice-acting for voice-overs, I

I initially had Corliss as a voice over teacher in a class, then decided to further my work with her as a coach and producer to create my voiceover demos. We covered all aspects of voiceover, including the physical: posture, microphone placement, etc., which I believe really enhanced my understanding of how physicality comes across via the voice. With her classical acting background, she was able to help me improve my overall speaking technique and provided me with vocal exercises to help minimize my regionalisms.

She was diligent in reviewing competitive demos to guide me to a variety of written copy and voice/energy levels that will help my demos stand up to those with more experience. She provided valuable advice regarding selection and use of materials for the demo and beyond as well as insights on the voiceover business.

I’m very pleased with the results of the two demos and expect to continue to take advantage of her coaching services as I grow in my new career.

Corliss is a master at her craft! She makes you feel comfortable from the moment you meet her and has a genuine interest in your goals. Corliss tailored lessons to my learning style which was very encouraging for someone with my level of experience. She has a lovely personality and her enthusiasm is infectious. I would highly recommend taking lessons from Corliss!
Steve
I took a five-session Beginning Voice Acting class with Corliss in a professional recording studio. The critiques she gave me after every recording I made helped me to speak more clearly, and to increase the energy I was able to put into my recorded presentations. Without the critiques of my recordings, I would not have been able to improve my speaking ability. During the class, she made sure everyone in the class was made to feel welcome, and important. When I take the next level of the Voice Acting class series, I will be looking forward her critiques of my recorded presentations.

Acting and Shakespeare for Kids and Teens

As a classically trained actor who spent her undergrad years at NYU studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, Stephanie’s particular strength as a teacher lies in her ability to both give her students the tools to meet the demands of classical texts, while also helping them connect their inner truth to the emotional life of the character. Therefore, her work with young actors is based on three principle areas-

• Character- discovering who they are, their specific circumstances, and the students’ own personal connection to the role
• Voice and Text work- giving students the tools to understand and unlock the text, and speak it with confidence and freedom
• Fostering commitment, connection, generosity and specificity, the four basic tenants of the Shakespeare and Company educational curriculum (and all-around great tools for life!)

Coaching Sessions:
• For kids and teens ages 8-18
• High school, college, and professional ...

About Stephanie

Stephanie holds a BFA in drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and her MFA in classical acting from the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting at the George Washington University, where she studied with Michael Kahn, Gary Logan (author of The Eloquent Shakespeare) and Elle

"I was always afraid I couldn't learn Shakespeare, but Nicholas explained the intent on the word, the intent on the line. Soon, I was so caught up in the meaning of the lines and the story I was telling in that moment that I was able to engage in the role, smoothly, without worrying that I was performing Shakespeare. He broke it down so I could understand it, and then feel confident doing it. Highly recommend!"

"I have learned so much with Nicholas. I feel like I'm always walking out of our lessons with my mind blown! We've been working on Shakespearean acting which I am now thoroughly enjoying. I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for the lines than which I have learned in school. I would highly recommend his coachings to any actor!"

He is focused, knowledgeable, passionate and has a profound manner in making the text accessible-current and personal. I used to have difficulty relating to a piece, the language intimidated me.
