About Eric
Every great artist needs a great coach, I'll help you to be the best!

I began my partnership with takelessons in 2013 and teach my students at my home teaching studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My studio is comfortable and creative.

As a highly experienced online music instructor (Takelessons Live, Skype, FaceTime and G+) I’ve helped Takelessons launch/beta test exciting new teaching platforms. I began teaching music as a teenager and have worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I have had the pleasure of coaching well-known musicians/celebrities, being an on-set tutor for feature films, and coached singers through their recording sessions. I treat my novice/hobbyist students with the same enthusiasm and professionalism as my advanced students, giving my very best to all my clients.

Additionally, I work with many stu
dents to prepare for high school/college/conservatory admission, casting calls for TV/Film, major tour auditions, and industry showcases.
______________

I'm the vocalist, lead guitarist & songwriter for a well-known touring rock band with a worldwide fan base and nearly 4 million You Tube views. I graduated from New York University with Bachelor's of Music in Jazz guitar and trained with the most highly respected rock/pop vocal coaches in the world. In 2015, I signed a major label publishing deal with Fieldhouse Music/BMG played throughout Europe (and taught online lessons while away). My songs have been licensed for national/international TV (E!, MTV, VH1, Oxygen, TBS and more), commercials for CBS, Nike, Coca-Cola, Samsung and in video games. Lead / Rhythm Guitar:

I've developed a step-by-step approach to learning to solo and improvise.
Using simple, "guitarist-friendly” techniques you will quickly learn and begin to apply major/minor scales/modes, blues/pentatonic scales and “licks.” You will learn triads, arpeggios, interval studies, and extensions and how to use them to create interesting and melodic solos. With my line development/phrasing techniques, you will have your own library of “licks” that will help you navigate both simple and sophisticated harmonic progressions. I will help you to become a become a well-rounded, three-dimensional guitarist with a unique voice!

A few of techniques I teach:

∙ triads / arpeggios
∙ strumming
∙ alternate/sweep picking
∙ tremolo picking
∙ hybrid picking
∙ scales/modes
∙ slide guitar
∙ hammer on/pull off
∙ (up to 8 finger) tapping
∙ bending / double stops / unison bends
∙ whammy bar techniques
∙ diagonal scales,
∙ arpeggios & note groupings
∙ 3 and 4 finger per string scales
∙ fingerstyle
∙ Jazz scales, chords including
4 note open/closed voicing
7th, 9th, 11th, 13th chords
∙ chord melodies
∙ rhythm and grooves of various styles

Bass Guitar:

Right hand:
∙ finger style, pick
∙ slapping/popping
∙ groove, rhythms and playing time
∙ time signatures, walking bass lines,
∙ arpeggios, double stops,
∙ chords & improvising
∙ writing bass lines.

All of my students learn:

Sight reading (standard notation/tablature)
∙ music theory & ear training
∙ rhythm / timing (including reading rhythms)
∙ composition/songwriting

We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. I focus our lesson's technical study with the song in mind. It has proven to be very effective and makes the technique and theory are less "boring."

Studio Equipment
I have (7) guitars: including (4) electric, (2) acoustic/electric, & (3) electric bass
(2) tube guitar amplifiers, and various guitar effects pedals.

(1) full-size 88-key MIDI keyboard, and (1) Arturia MINILAB MIDI controller.

Also, I have an assortment of industry standard dynamic & condenser microphones for live performance and recording applications.

DAW recording software (Pro Tools 12.x, Logic 10.x, Ableton Live)
software synthesizers by Arturia, Fabfilter, Native Instruments, Spectrasonics, Steven Slate, Toontrack and more. I use plugin effects by Izotope, Fabfilter, Plugin Alliance and Universal Audio and Waves for many of my lessons and recording projects.

Travel Equipment
I can provide a guitar, videos, music recording, music workbooks and everything else a student may need. Students are only expected to bring a desire to learn. :)

Specialties

I am a performer with a ton of touring/stage experience, a composer who understands the art of writing and a producer who is fluent in the latest recording technology. In addition to technical studies, my students receive performance coaching/career development. I will help you to find your unique voice, a polished and distinct sound, and your true personality as an artist. I am 100% committed to making you a success!

I will ignite a new, or recharge/rekindle your passion for music, and to sing/play the music you love a lot better!

I have been teaching voice for about 5 years now, and am an active performer myself in music theatre and opera. In lessons I work with my students on singing without counterproductive tension and learning to use their breath to support the sound in a way that’s healthy and will keep them singing their whole lives. I create a safe, supportive atmosphere where the student is comfortable to experiment, because I know from experience that is how real learning and expression happens. My performing experience and education allow me to also coach my students in musicality, style, and diction as well so they have all the tools to be elegant, communicative singers. I not only help the students understand what’s going on physically with their body and their instrument, but also give them ideas for ways to practice what they’re learning so they can be their own best teacher in between lessons. I am able to record lessons for my students so they can listen back and hear how the exercises we do in

About Emily
Singing and playing piano have always been a huge part of my life. I love to perform everything from opera and sacred music to music theater and jazz, and have been performing since I was very young. I earned my Bachelor’s of Music in vocal performance from DePaul University School of Music in Chicago. It was there that I fell in love with teaching, when I taught my first student as part of a course in vocal pedagogy. Since then I have built my studio to over 20 voice and piano students here in NY and CT. It has been thrilling to see all the progress they've made! I just completed my Masters of Music at the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College.

I have had several excellent and truly inspiring teachers myself with different teaching styles, and so I have a variety of approaches to drawn upon in helping my own students. Vocal techni
que was not something that came easy for me, and was something I had to really work on. This work on technique has made me a stronger teacher. I know how many different approaches it can take to make something click, so I use the diverse experiences of my own studies to find what works best for each student. While I am classically trained, I am comfortable teaching all types of singers, because I believe that at its core, what makes a singer great is the same between all genres. My number one goal in teaching is to help my students use their voice in a way that is healthy and allows them the greatest ability for expression, because ultimately, I believe that is what music is about.

Although singing has been a big part of my professional work in the past few years, I have also been playing classical piano since I was four and still love to play and share this love with my students. Most of my students are piano students, and I love seeing the progress they've made over the years. Students that started with me as beginners a few years ago are now reading music with confidence and playing works by Mozart and Beethoven.

I am an active performer and am able to draw upon this experience in my teaching. This summer I performed in Manhattan with dell'Arte Opera Ensemble and won 2nd prize in their dell'Arte/Jeiven Awards. Past roles include Gretel in Hansel and Gretel at Brooklyn College and Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni with Connecticut Lyric Opera. Other roles include April in Company with Westport Community Theatre, Despina (cover) in Mozart's Così fan tutte for Connecticut Lyric Opera, the messenger in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo at DePaul University, and Maria in West Side Story with the McLeod Summer Playhouse. I have a special love for early music and have performed oratorio by Bach with the DePaul Baroque Ensemble and as part of the Bethesda Music Series in New Haven. I also participated in the prestigious Amherst Early Music Festival for two years. I have performed abroad in Austria and Italy, and speak French, Italian, and some German. Because of my experience on stage in opera , music theatre, and recitals, I understand the skills it takes to engage an audience and create a well-rounded performance. I am thus an asset to any student preparing for a contest, audition, or stage appearance.

Technique is number 1! And before you even get to the vocal work, Breathing technique is key! So we will begin with that, and work forward. He's my first teacher - I have never learned singing elsewhere before. He says I learn fast, but the truth is that he knows how to give the best exercises and advice to make the student realise one's full potential. Practising while following the advice he pointed out during the lesson, I suddenly found myself near 3-octave range within the first couple of lessons, and now we are working on rounding the tone and make it into a beautiful singing voice. On top of it, he's also very funny and approachable.

I studied almost daily with Rachel for a couple of months during the rehearsal process of a production of Guys and Dolls. Learning from Rachel was an honor and an experience from which I have retained an extensive amount of information from just a limited amount of time. I wish I had had more time to study with Rachel! Rachel was very progressive with the way she helped me. She taught me new exercises and information about my voice that I did not know existed. I grew immensely as a performer and singer after studying with her. Throughout our time together, Rachel made a point of really getting to know me and become my friend. That made my transition to a new theatre company with a new production staff and cast members very easy and enjoyable. I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with Rachel and the amazing work she did with me!

I've been a professional singer and actress for over twelve years, performing on Broadway in Lincoln Center's Tony-winning Revival of "South Pacific" and touring the county with Rob McClure and Anika Larson in the First National Tour of "Avenue Q." I have an MFA in Performing Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design, graduated summa cum laude, and was the only female recipient of the Presidential Scholarship for Vocal Performance. My BA is in Arts and Education from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

I teach all levels of singing and am familiar with different styles, like contemporary musical theatre, legit, belting, and pop/ rock. As an actor who sings I think it's important to connect with the text and let the vocal technique support those choices for the most compelling performance. My passion is creating audition cuts and crafting them into bite-sized yet complete scenes. Audition technique is key if you want to be in shows because someone has to cast you first. About Rebecca
My approach is both supportive and pragmatic, based on where each individual's skill set is right now and what your specific goals are. I've had the benefit of both formal instruction as well as a decade in the "school of hard knocks." Climbing up the ladder to earn my Equity Card on a Production Contact taught me a lot and I believe gave me a nuanced perspective as a performer.

Over 95% of my career is from attending open calls, including finding representation and my Broadway debut.

I continue to audition for film, television, and theatre, as well as perform in concerts and other venues. I write and produce my own work and am currently signed with Roth and Associates East.

Singing is one of the most joyful activities you can do! Anyone can learn to sing.
I love teaching others to sing and perform, and I've been doing so for over 20 years - through private lessons, music theater workshops, music schools and choruses. I work with students where they are at and help them to build a solid technique that works for them.

(The percentage of people who are actually tone deaf is very, very small.)

About Catherine
Catherine has been teaching private lessons since 1995 and is currently available to teach lessons at your home, at her studio, and online. Catherine has helped students develop their voice, audition successfully, and perform with confidence on stage and screen.

Catherine received her education from Boston University where she received a BM degree in Vocal Performance. She was a post-graduate artist at the Boston University Opera Institute and studied in Italy with legendary tenor Carlo Bergonzi. Aside from formal education, Catherine has performed on stages including the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall in concerts, operas, and musicals. Her largest audience was 18,000 when she sang the National Anthem at an NBA game. (Go Spurs!)
As an expert in her field, Catherine looks forward to helping new students achieve their goal

Ashleigh is an amazing coach. Ashleigh has been coaching my daughter for about five years via Facetime. The improvement in my daughter’s song interpretation and acting ability has been steady and incredible. Ashleigh knows how to prepare students for auditions. She has prepared my daughter for college auditions (from exploring and picking materials, to having all pieces ready). Most importantly, Ashleigh is always there for us answering questions and being supportive. Hello! I am a professional opera singer who loves teaching. Whether you are finally finding the time to take those voice lessons you always wanted or whether you just want to brush up on your technique I would love to help you finding your unique sound and style. lessons are tailored made to suite each student's goals and needs. Want to develop your voice while having fun and making some great music? Let's get started!

About Merav
I am originally from Israel with Artist Diploma from Cleveland Institute of Music and Bachelor degree in Voice Performance from The Buchmann-Mehtah School of Music in Tel Aviv. I've been enjoying teaching for the past few years, giving private voice lessons and helping my students reaching their goals. I've worked and learned from some of the best singers and teachers out there including Mark Oswald, Ana María Martínez, Barbara Bonney, Mary Schiller and Sandra Lopez. My favorite music to perform is contemporary music and so I've collaborated and premiered pieces by numerous living composers. I also love singing bel-canto and baroque music.
New and cool projects are what I love the most! and I hope we'll inspire each other for a creative use of your voices.

Our first lesson will be all about getting to know each other. We will start
with some breathing and vocal exercises that you can also do on your own in between lessons. It is especially important for me to know what are your expectations and goals for the short and long term. I will tailor our lessons according to your goals and interest.

I believe that with good technique you can be in charge of your own instrument which is crucial for any style of singing. That’s why my prime goal is to help my students build a good base of technique that will allow them to approach any musical genre they'll ever wish to.

In our lessons we will work on the strength and flexibility of all the mussels that take part in the breathing process. I will give you unique exercises to strengthen the different registers of your voice. We will work on coordination and make sure you have as many tools on hand as possible.
I will concentrate in our lessons on the musical genre/s of your choice. We will learn the specific style, the different trends that are out there right now and I will help you develop your unique signature. Looking forward to working with you!

Please don't hesitate to send me any questions you have!
