About Rebecca
Hello! Thank you for coming to view my profile! I am a junior at the Mannes School of Music studying Flute Performance with Judith Mendenhall. I graduated from Great Neck South High School and Manhattan School of Music Precollege. I have had a wide age range of flute students whom I taught how to read music as well as the flute itself. These students then went on to participate in NYSSMA. I have always had a passion for learning and teaching and hope to instill my passion upon you! Don't hesitate to send me any questions you may have!

**The availability drop down is a bit confusing. During the winter and summer, I will be able to teach in/around Great Neck AND in NYC, whereas during the Fall and the Spring I will be living in NYC and ONLY able to teach there. If you have any questions, please send me a message and we can work out our a
vailability through the message system. In the photos section of the profile, I have posted my free hours from August 28th - December 20th. Hopefully this also helps!

Thank you again for taking interest in my profile!

My 14 y/o daughter has found the perfect flute teacher! Rebecca is a wonderful person and a great coach. Though she is still a student on becoming a future performing flutist, her knowledge is unbelievable. Not only that, she is super fun, smart and never boring! My daughter liked her instantly the first time they had a lesson and she’s always looking forward to the next. What I also like is how super flexible she is with our schedule and that shows how dedicated she is. I believe she will be successful someday and inspire younger kids like my Jillian.

Thanks, Rebecca. My first lesson was a good experience. I went home with some new knowledge on music theory and new exercises. The guidance was easy-going, low pressure, and encouraging. She helped me work out some difficulties and figure out some adjustments to improve my practice. Looking forward to my next and future lessons. Definitely recommend Rebecca as an instructor.

Vena is a phenomenal teacher. She really ensures that you understand the concepts fully when teaching and doesn't rush through anything to fit it within a certain time frame. In our first day, she helped me learn the semantics of patternmaking and sewing and apply it visually to a dress form! For any beginner or someone who needs to solidify their foundation, Vena is a great instructor!

Here goes...
I am a chess teacher, tutor, singer, and Shakespearean actor in NYC! I guess you could say I wear a lot of hats.

I graduated with honors in 2009 from New York University with a BFA in Drama. I've been professionally teaching since 2012, but I have always loved sharing the game of chess with anyone who wants to learn (just ask my friends).

Students can expect to face new challenges and to improve each and every week. I am happy to work with students of all different ages and experience levels. As a teacher in the New York Public School system, I know how to make chess simple and friendly enough for Kindergartners, Senior Citizens, and everyone in between! And as an active tournament player (current rating 2000), I can offer great insight into the needs of any skill level. I am thrilled to work with ambitious tournament playe
rs and those who just want to learn how to beat their friends :).

Chess is a wonderful, challenging game, but I truly believe that anyone can learn to play if they are motivated. Come work with me and discover your new obsession!

I bring solid technical understanding and lots of patience and encouragement to my crochet classes. I work with each student to meet their individual needs, I am constantly looking for ways of explaining crochet techniques so that students experience true success in the craft. I nurture my students so that they become technically correct and can then follow their needlework dreams creating functional items and works of art. I’m truly enjoying the craft renaissance that is the world over. I try to get my students to explore all aspects of the craft, from relaxation and meditation to creating useful and beautiful items to be handed down through generations.

My students get a benefit of my professional years working in the garment center and attending FIT as well as my crochet and crafting practical time from the age of 7. The need
le work gene comes from my maternal grandmother’s side of the family learning not only crochet but most needle crafts, sewing, needle point, embroidery, and knitting. Nothing gives me more joy than sharing my love of fiber.
