As an engineer, I use calculus on a daily basis to solve problems, and this includes multi-variable and vector calculus. Taking a calculus course and knowing the steps to solve a derivative or integral is one thing, but applying calculus concepts to problems in engineering and physics (i.e. biomechanics or fluid mechanics) is the true mark of understanding calculus - something I've learned how to do over many years of applying what I learned in my calculus courses. Sure, calculus can be a challenging subject at times, but with a focus on geometric representations, attaining a solid understanding of the concepts is well within reach, and that is the way I approach the subject with my students. For example, I don't just show you how to analytically solve an integral, I show you what an integral is, and what the solution means. When you understand calculus on this level, you'll be able to work through any of the curve ball questions your teacher might throw in on an exam.

15+ years' experience -- math and science specialist!
If you've been muddling along with precalculus or chemistry has you hitting your head against the wall, I've got your back! Focused but encouraging, enthusiastic but personable, I've patiently helped my students reach that "light-bulb moment" countless times.
Guiding someone to understanding a concept they struggle with is of course a major part of tutoring, but I'm also really big on coaching students to be methodical and have a system. Content knowledge is only part of the puzzle; problem-solving skills are crucial. Check out my testimonials to hear from my students themselves on that!
About Stephanie
NOTE: I recommend 90 minutes for a first session -- in my experience, 60 minutes tends not to be enough to both get the lay of the land and deliver a reassuring and substantive amount of support. I look forward to working with you! I went to Princeton University and studied molecular biology. I

Getting ready to take the AP Calculus test? Brush up on these study tips from Olympia, WA tutor Tali H... The AP Calculus exam is rumored to be one of the harder AP tests - especially for those of us who math doesn't come easily to. The test takes three hours and 15 minutes, and has 45 multiple-choice questions and six short-answer questions. Both types have a non-calculator part and a calculator part. Even though it sounds daunting, with some determination and productive studying, …
