In our lessons, beginning students will learn to read music, play their favorite pieces, how to do warm ups and learn basic skills. I use sheet music and introductory books in my classes and assign homework for their daily practice. After 3 months, each student will move to the next level and continue learning more advanced skills. More advanced students will learn how to understand and compose music, put expression into the pieces they play and improve their current skills.

I am a master teacher focusing on the classical repertoire along with the very strong approache to improvisation. I am really helping each single student to achieve their interests in music rather than focusing on teaching one particular method. I just take a very similar approach to the Suzuki method but instead of teaching out of the method books I teach mixture of exercises and pieces that I believe are more fun and accessible to today student of any age. Classes are tailored to the needs of any particular student and constantly evolving. I am a true believer that this also enchances an understanding and love of classical music. A huge range of students come as beginners and left as a young artists as well as adult students Who came to learn piano and have found that they can perform professionally. And plus have a great deal of Fun! I also guide my students in the curriculum and exams of the Royal Conservatory program. Exams are offered twice a year. Also my students participating in Junior festivals and community recitals. I have also been a judge for Lake Central Junior festival which held in University of central Florida for over 8 years and an assistant for RC exams. Creativity and love of music are the key elements that I encourage in every single student. With my teaching skills and over 20 years of experience I am taking each single student beyond their own expectation while helping them to achieve their own goals. Bio: I am a professional pianist, teacher and composer. Because of my through knowledge and experience with music I can teach all ages and levels an array of important subjects including piano, music theory, , improvisation, composition, music history. My goal with every single student to incorporate all those subjects into my piano lessons so that every student gains a through understanding of music and become a well- rounded musician. I started piano lessons when I was 7 years old and quickly felt in love with the instrument. In spite of studying a very structured program I quickly began to explore my creative side and was always improvising on the piano as well as enjoying playing classical pieces. Throughout my youth I entered and placed in a few competitions. I was also involved with the band chorus, dance and drama and attended lots of concerts, plays, operas, ballets. It gave me a well-rounded artistic upbringing. I Persuaded my passione for music and graduated World renowned Moscow conservatory of music with Master’s degree in piano performance and teaching. My education tought me to understand piano in depth along with music theory and ear training. If you want to sit at the piano and play what you feel or to master every detail of a piece of music so you can express it exactly as composer intended? I can teach you. I completely encourage all ages and backgrounds to explore their musical passion and discover the endless possibilities of Piano!!!

I teach with an emphasis on learning and understanding the chords of music. Usually the lesson books are used for techniques and proper playing, but the real joy comes from playing the music that each student loves. I'm good at finding that music for every student even if I have to write the notes out myself. I want them to play what inspires them and develop a love of music for life.

Are you or your child just longing to express yourself on a keyboard? So was I, for as long as I can remember. WHEN WE WERE KIDS..... we all learned to speak before we learned to read and write. So why would you ever try to read music before you can play it? We play AND record right away, and it's a lot of fun! Listening back to your performance is a powerful tool. So we record all the time. And we make it fun. What people are saying: “...an amazing instructor...inspiring mentor...compassionate.” “...a lot of patience...” “My son's love for music has come from Randy.” “...positive attitude and friendly personality.” “...wildly entertaining.” “ ...will teach you in a way that will make you want to learn.” “We look forward to our session every week!” Most music lessons are just too full of un-intuitive systems. They teach reading before you can play a note. What a turn-off! We make sure to play first and we always have great fun. We still get to all the ear training and music fundamentals as well. Almost every lesson we record your original music or you playing on top of tracks that we create together or that I create for you. I send you an MP3 along with an email of your lesson notes. Let's PLAY! Oh and yes, my method makes good use of technology but is still rooted in a solid and massive classical education including Dalcroze, Kodaly, Suzuki, Orff and more. An integrated approach: Music almost always involves several skills. Below are some of the complementary skills that I can help you with. For example, we record, sing and play all the time. To sing you should be able to pick out intervals at the piano, or better yet, accompany yourself and everyone needs some music theory. So it really is all one thing. Accompaniment, Arrangement and Composition, Audio Engineering, Audition Prep, Composition, Ear Training, Film Scoring, Jazz Voice, Logic Pro Software, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Piano, Singing, Songwriting, Speaking Voice, Spoken Word, Vocal Training.

Piano in the Piedmont: Piano Lessons in Winston Salem

By Robert R. - Winston Salem Piano Teacher

People all over the world love to play the piano. Studying piano at any age brings countless benefits and is a strong foundation for learning any other musical instrument or voice. If you’re looking to take piano lessons in Winston Salem, or anywhere within the Piedmont Triad in North Carolina, opportunities abound for learning the instrument and for hearing great piano performances. Winston Salem, known as the “City of the Arts and Innovation,” is a thriving university town with a vibrant cultural arts district in its downtown. Music has always occupied a leading role in the city’s arts scene.

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, located on South Main Street, is home to a renowned School of Music with a full slate of public recitals and concerts each year, many of which take place in the intimate setting of Watson Hall, a 300-seat auditorium that houses two beautiful Hamburg Steinway concert grand pianos. Hearing great music played by master artists on these instruments is an inspiration to any aspiring pianist. The school’s outreach extends further off campus, too, to the magnificent Stevens Center downtown, where piano artists perform regularly with the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra and the highly acclaimed Winston Salem Symphony. There’s no better way to learn the piano repertoire than to hear an engaged live performance.

Just a stone’s throw from UNCSA is Salem College, a jewel of an institution with a School of Music that is steeped in both tradition and innovation. Founded in 1804, the school boasts a thriving performance calendar and remarkable facilities, including a historic and highly admired 1938 Steinway concert grand in Shirley Recital Hall. The opportunity to hear such an instrument in this acoustically fine venue, whether it be in a solo piano performance, chamber music presentation, vocal recital, or choral concert, is not only enriching, but is "de rigueur" for any budding pianist in the city. Here is a perfect place to learn the art of listening for subtlety and nuance in piano playing while taking your piano lessons in Winston Salem. We learn so much from listening to others, especially in a live performance.

Winston Salem has much to offer pianists outside of the university scene, too. Jazz is alive and well in the Downtown Summer Music Series, including “Downtown Jazz” on Fridays and “Summer on Trade” on Saturdays in the evenings. Looking to buy a piano? Mitchell’s Piano Gallery has some great options, including digital and player pianos. Or, check out Piedmont Music Center, which for a limited time had in residence the actual Steinway grand that Vladimir Horowitz played in Moscow in his famous 1986 concerts.

Finally, a short venture down the highway is all it takes to attend the renowned Eastern Music Festival, in summertime residence at Guilford College in nearby Greensboro. The piano program there is an exciting mix of great master teachers and gifted young artists. Add chamber music and an accomplished symphony orchestra, and the results are top-notch music making.

In short, the city of Winston Salem and the surrounding Piedmont Triad provide a flourishing haven for motivated pianists of all ages and interests. If piano is your thing, you’re in the right place to be a part of it all. Time to practice!
