I've been teaching music for over 12 years and I am now developing a new method for learning piano based on my own experience in learning and teaching music. This method teaches piano technique in a creative, custom and exciting way. All lesson plans are created specific to each student to ensure students are getting exactly what they need to grow as musicians. Along with learning piano students will learn to read, write music and ultimately sight read music at the piano. I enjoy sharing the gift of music with with new students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I teach rock keyboard with a focus on fun. I've spent many, many hours playing songs from the Beatles, Spoon, Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver and many more. I received my piano proficiency from Knox College where I majored in music.
My beginning students always start with a song that they love. As soon as those songs are internalized the application of scales will become a necessity, but will never take precedent over rhythm and feel.
Are you ready to start your adventure into the world of piano?

I have extensive experience teaching children and adults of all levels for 30 years. I also conducted many large projects like musicals with children and they enjoy working with me very much. I have a Ph.D. in Music and I'm a professor at Tennessee State University.
I have many years of research experience in educational technology and I use the outcomes while teaching. My students enjoy my new system which makes a great difference in their learning.
My lessons for ages between 4-6 are 30 minutes but I highly recommend 50 minutes of lessons for teenagers, and adults.
