Whether you like to sing pop, classical or jazz, pick a few of your favorite songs and we will work together to help you achieve a beautiful singing voice. Lessons include vocal exercises to practice proper vowel placement, breath support, alignment and intonation. A wide expanse of vocal literature is available, but it is important for the student to practice songs they love.

About Julia
Julia is a music educator based out of Spokane, WA and has been teaching since 2009. She received her training from Washington State University, where she earned a Bachelors in Music. Julia teaches all experience levels from beginner, to intermediate and advanced, and also has experience working with children with special needs.

Julia has studied voice under the private tutelage of Greta Matassa, Dr. Sheila K. Converse, Dr. John Weiss, and Gene Wright. Julia has also studied trumpet with Lance Buller and jazz piano with Dr. Charles Argersinger. She worked as a vocal soloist for Sacred Heart Baptist Church in Pullman, WA, sang with the Seattle Womens’ Chorus, and crooned at Tula’s Restaurant and Jazz Club. Julia was an avid performer in the School of Music at Washington State University, including the Library Atrium Recital Series,
Concert Choir, Musicals, Operettas, and the Cougar Marching Band.

***Lesson Details***

A personalized plan is made for each student depending on their goals and level of commitment. Intensity varies depending on what the student's goals are, and how much the student is available to fit in practice time. Some students are singing/playing competitively, and some are just singing/playing for fun!

At each lesson we will tune and warm-up, and review the practice assignment from the previous lesson. Julia will congratulate the student on their improvements and then use a variety of methods to help the student become more comfortable with any potential trouble spots. The next part of the lesson will be used to introduce new material.

Most lessons take place at Juia's home studio. For an additional fee, lessons may be booked at the students location or home.

Please note:
-Vocal lessons require a piano. Vocalists requesting in home lessons need to own a piano; a keyboard may even work depending on the maximum decibal output.
-All piano students must have a keyboard or piano available to practice outside of lesson time.
-Guitar players also do need to own a guitar in order to practice outside of lesson time.

Julia was super organized and “in tune” with my daughter. She gives just the right amount of praise. It’s very genuine. Julia had a real interest in finding the perfect music for my daughter to practice and listen too. My daughter really enjoyed her lesson.

I use a two-fold system of vowels (Catona) and consonant-vowel combinations (Bauer) to improve your voice by training the vocal muscles to work symmetrically improving your natural sound, support and create a balance in breath pressure.

In your lesson, I start where you're at. I identify immediate issues and then put you on a regimen to move you toward your vocal best.

Each lesson is recorded and emailed so you can listen and practice. Practicing is imperative to building your vocal muscles, stamina, breathing, support and performance skills.

About Karmyn
Hi! My name is Karmyn! Being a professional singer and actress I understand the need for an effective vocal technique that enables you to sing or speak consistently and confidently utilizing all of your emotional range without compromising the health of your voice. I can help you do just that!

My love of teaching began in vocal pedagogy class at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. For over 20 years I've honed my teaching skills in vocal science, ear training, and positive communication to help students do some amazing things!

Therapeutically I have helped students:
-significantly increase their range in both directions
-dramatically increase control of vocal volume and tone
-smooth vocal tone through out the register: paying special attention to smoothing the mix
-heal voices of vocal nodules or polyps without the need f
or surgery
-heal vocal issues associated with psychological stress
-learn how to find pitch easier with confidence
-learn how to find their true voice and not imitator another artist
-how to be creative in their song writing styles

My technique is two-fold:
First, I use Gary Catona’s Vocal Building method and have used it in my studio for 8 years. It is the most unique and powerful method I have ever used and it works 100% of the time. It uses Italian Vowels with specific mouth positions to scientifically build your voice and make it more powerful, effective and controlled.

Secondly, I use consonant-vowel combinations for your specific vocal diction issue. Many of the exercises come from my training with Master teacher Bill Bauer of Dallas. Many times diction gets in the way of vowel placement. This technique eliminates that problem.

**All lessons are recorded and sent to you via Dropbox or One Drive.

I am so blessed to teach students who have received full scholarships to some of the best music schools and summer programs in the world, appeared on American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Grand Ole Opry, Off-Broadway shows, Regional and National tours, State and National Pageant competitions, and in National Commercials.

I'd love for you to join that list! All you have to do is take a lesson and practice!

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me!

This is a great lesson study for anyone who wants to sing(experienced or not).
Beginners would learn to approach their voices as instruments through breathing and use of their diaphragm. All classes would develop their ears through special exercises and harmony. More advanced singers the emphasis would be on stylings and nuances. I also try to develop them as an artist. All lessons are customized to the prospective students in addition to being a lot of fun. I've been teaching voice for about 15 years now.

About Paul
I am a musician who has played in many bands. My primary instrument is piano and voice. I also play rhythm guitar. My current group is a "Who" tribute band, performing a complete history of the rock group, The Who. Please check out our website magicbustour.com
I play by ear but also read music. If you are looking for an old school, rigid, teacher who only has students only follow books, then you should look elsewhere. If you want to be able to play or sing with feel and learn music theory with some reading in a comfortable working studio then contact me.

Each student is unique, and it's difficult to classify as "beginner/intermediate/advanced" since student objectives are unique as well. I'm interested in understanding where you are on the spectrum for a wide variety of skills, and will work with each student to move along the spectrum on skills that are important to his or her objectives.

About Cindy
Cindy has been making music for as long as she can remember. She was the assistant director of a synagogue children's choir by age 14 and has directed and sung with many community choirs and pickup groups since then. But it wasn't until 1996 that she discovered the autoharp and began teaching and performing in earnest. Now one of the best recognized autoharp workshop leaders in the US, she has taught and performed at festivals and private concerts from Pennsylvania to California, as well as Tasmania, Australia, England, aboard cruise ships, and an upcoming visit to Sweden. She also shares her knowledge of old-time West Virginia fiddle techniques and repertoire, and is known locally as a sympathetic and effective voice teacher for those who think they cannot sing. In addition to her teaching activities, Cindy founded and directs the Pi
ttsburgh Threshold Choir, a group of women who sing at the bedsides of people who are very ill or dying.

Lessons with Cindy are self-directed with coaching intended to help the student accomplish his or her personal objectives. She will ask you to provide examples of music that you love so much that you'd be willing to work hard to learn to play it, and you will find yourself working on that music right from the start. Technique is taught in the context of the music: if you need a technique for a particular song, you will learn that technique. And of course once you've mastered a technique it's yours to use on the next song or tune and the next. It's a constant process of enjoying the music and discovering and mastering the technique needed to recreate it in your own playing or singing.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons start with a review of the work you've been doing. We might take that song or tune to the next level with a new technique, or we might apply technique you've already learned to a new piece. Every lesson is different, customized to the needs of the student at that moment.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Instruments, audio and video recording equipment

*** Travel Equipment ***

I recently approached Cindy for vocal coaching on songs that I perform on a regular basis with my duet. I am extremely pleased with her instruction. She was to the point, very clear and concise with her guidance. I know she improved my performance (I had a concert the very next day!). She gave me so much to think about. I really trust her approach with me. She made me feel very much at ease, which resulted in rapid-fire student/teacher give and take vocal direction. This is the way I like to learn! I loved my time with her and will certainly have another session with her soon!

I've been a professional singer and actress for over twelve years, performing on Broadway in Lincoln Center's Tony-winning Revival of "South Pacific" and touring the county with Rob McClure and Anika Larson in the First National Tour of "Avenue Q." I have an MFA in Performing Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design, graduated summa cum laude, and was the only female recipient of the Presidential Scholarship for Vocal Performance. My BA is in Arts and Education from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

I teach all levels of singing and am familiar with different styles, like contemporary musical theatre, legit, belting, and pop/ rock. As an actor who sings I think it's important to connect with the text and let the vocal technique support those choices for the most compelling performance. My passion is creating audition cuts and crafting them into bite-sized yet complete scenes. Audition technique is key if you want to be in shows because someone has to cast you first. About Rebecca
My approach is both supportive and pragmatic, based on where each individual's skill set is right now and what your specific goals are. I've had the benefit of both formal instruction as well as a decade in the "school of hard knocks." Climbing up the ladder to earn my Equity Card on a Production Contact taught me a lot and I believe gave me a nuanced perspective as a performer.

Over 95% of my career is from attending open calls, including finding representation and my Broadway debut.

I continue to audition for film, television, and theatre, as well as perform in concerts and other venues. I write and produce my own work and am currently signed with Roth and Associates East.

I have really enjoyed working with Alex-- He has given me some great tools and guidance for working on technique in a healthy way, and I have left every lesson excited to practice and apply what we work on. He always challenges me in a very constructive manner and makes lessons a safe place to take risks and experiment. Alex is a brilliant man and a terrific professional singer who has incorporated and consolidated correct and admirable vocal knowledge and has an insight and perception into voices and the root cause of issues and the path to improving a voice. His understanding of the uniqueness of each voice with an underlying bel canto, vocally scientific and yet musically based methodology is outstanding. I would trust Alex with any singer and I know any voice type in any type of repertoire, musical theatre and jazz and even pop, would benefit greatly. he is a deep thinker, but an outgoing and generous individual with great patience. I admire him greatly and I know he is already an outstanding teacher, though his professional career is giving him a great balance, and a good insight into the world each singer is venturing into. A uniquely qualified person.
