I possess an adept understanding of mathematical and scientific subject matters. I have accrued a great deal of knowledge and experience tutoring in these subjects over the last seven years. I have a wide arsenal of tutoring approaches, as I've worked with a number of students possessing a wide variety of learning styles and personalities.
I'm very patient and easy-going, so let's get you started!
I was the top calculus student in my high school class, and received a 5 on the AP Calculus exam. I also won the high school medal for top math student in my high school.
As an electrical & computer engineer, I've had extensive study in math, including algebra and calculus. I can help with conceptual understanding, study techniques, and test prep (including AP exams).
I started playing piano when I was 3, and began writing music at the age of 6. I've taught music and piano for over 12 years, and tutoring other subjects for over 5 years.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I graduated from Cornell University in Electrical & Computer Engineering, with a minor in Music.
As a student, I was President of the Cornell Piano Society for 4 years. I spent much time teaching piano and music theory to fellow Cornell students, faculty, and staff. I've also organized many concerts, recitals, and events during my tenure.
After college, I went on to work for Intel & Apple as an engineer, while continuing to teach and tutor on the side. Later on, I founded my own startup company centered around Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and unmet needs in the B2C market.
I typically travel
to each student's home for lessons. I travel all around the Bay Area: as far north as Richmond, as far south as Los Gatos, as far East as Livermore (and every place in between, including the Peninsula).
As an engineer, I use calculus on a daily basis to solve problems, and this includes multi-variable and vector calculus. Taking a calculus course and knowing the steps to solve a derivative or integral is one thing, but applying calculus concepts to problems in engineering and physics (i.e. biomechanics or fluid mechanics) is the true mark of understanding calculus - something I've learned how to do over many years of applying what I learned in my calculus courses. Sure, calculus can be a challenging subject at times, but with a focus on geometric representations, attaining a solid understanding of the concepts is well within reach, and that is the way I approach the subject with my students. For example, I don't just show you how to analytically solve an integral, I show you what an integral is, and what the solution means. When you understand calculus on this level, you'll be able to work through any of the curve ball questions your teacher might throw in on an exam.
Hello there! My name is Colin, and I have five years of experience tutoring math and science. I am a PhD student in the UC Berkeley-UC San Fransisco joint bioengineering program. My strong background in STEM qualifies me to tutor math and science up through lower-division college courses. Aside from my academic qualifications, I believe that it is my genuine passion for math and science that makes me an effective tutor for students of all backgrounds.
As a tutor, my goal is not to impress students with how much I know. Rather, my goal is to show my students how easily math and science concepts can come to them when they are presented the material in a straightforward way. The late physicist, Richard Feynman, posited that the ability to explain complicated ideas in a simple manner is the true mark of understanding. I agree with this a
ssertion, and I make it my goal each tutoring session to explain even the most complex phenomena in a simple way, so that my student will come away from the lesson invariably understanding it. Additionally, I emphasize a strong understanding of the fundamentals, because both math and science are heavily inductive disciplines; many of the theorems and laws are founded on other, more fundamental principles. I have personally experienced the discouragement of trying to learn material that is beyond my preparedness level, and so I can empathize with students who are in that boat. Fortunately, I have learned that the remedy is always a return to, and a strengthening of the basics. That is the approach I take with students who find themselves struggling in a course.
My online teaching platform is a “black board” drawing program that my students can follow along with as I explain concepts and solve problems. I simply share my screen with them during the session, and at the end, I take a screenshot of the notes and email it to my students for their reference. I hope this brief explanation of my qualifications and teaching style has provided a clear image of what you can expect from me as your tutor. I am eager to hear from you and help you succeed in your academic goals!
I've been teaching calculus for twenty years and my students have gone from no knowledge at all to grasp the basic. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to solve simple problem about derivatives and as time goes on you'll be able to solve types of integrals of elementary functions. I specialize in integration of elementary functions, typically use any calculus book and have the following tools available for your lessons:Internet, cd's,calculator, and videos, . I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
My mission is to teach you the way you can understand this new knowledge and apply it
Math is my biggest passion, ever since I discovered its full depth. While many ask themselves "how will this equation be useful in my life?" I always ask myself "how can I make this equation meaningful in my life." I am a mathematics major and have enjoyed every single math class I have ever taken.
Please contact me before making a payment! Ever since I started my studies in the United States, 5 years ago, I have been captivated by the educational system. Initially, I tutored high school students as a tool to better practice my communication skills with the English language. I continued this tutoring path by aiding other college students on a 1-to-1 basis and more recently as part of an online experience. Math is my biggest passion, ever since I discovered its full depth. While many ask themselves "how will this equation be useful in my life?" I always ask myself "how can I make this equation meaningful in my life."
This guy is one of the best tutors I've ever had! He can break everything down and make it way easier! I can spend 2 hours with my teacher and still not get anything but Brandon will make it clear in 30 minutes!

I am a Ph.D. student in Statistics and earned a Bachelor's in mathematics from St. Norbert College in 2016. I have been tutoring for over 10 years now, starting with a my work as a Program Staff at the local Boy's and Girl's Club. Now I just enjoy working with students one-on-one and in small groups.
I love teaching and plan on being a professor after finishing my Ph.D. Further, I am trying to develop classes that students will enjoy and be able to take with them. I hate when I hear people say that they hated stats or math because of this class they had when they were younger. My goal is to change that by creating a learning system that is enjoyable and efficient.
I'm an experienced math teacher of 5 years and I love helping others to discover the excitement and beauty of math! I believe that everyone has the ability to do math, and I work to tailor my lessons to each student's unique way of thinking. Most of my teaching experience has been with students who do not naturally gravitate towards mathematical thinking. I enjoy finding ways to translate math concepts into various forms so that students can understand them more easily. Sometimes that means drawing a picture or using a metaphor - I keep exploring with my students until we have found the solution together. My goal is to give my students confidence and tools to be able to master math on their own.
I have a background in both math and teaching, with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and masters degree in education. I've worked in education, data analysis, and teaching, but I most enjoy working one-on-one with students through tutoring. I work to help students realize how much they already know and give them confidence for mastering new math skills.
(Genesis C.) Clare is a phenomenal geometry tutor!!! She explains the material well and therefore, helps me understand the material in a more methodical way. She is kind and she is also patient, while I am working through the problems. I feel as if I enjoy geometry more and more after the tutoring sessions that I have with her!!
"Colin was flexible with my schedule and was readily available if I had additional questions. He broke subject matter down for me and made sure that I had
a good understanding of the topic before moving forward.
Most importantly, Colin never made me feel incapable when it came to doing the work."
"Pretty good has very good patience"
"I'm happy to say I found Colin for help with my calculus 1 class. I was doing okay from the beginning, but I felt like I was lacking the depth of understa
nding of some core algebra concepts and wanted to get solid on them before the class got more challenging (integration), as I was striving for an A in the class. Colin was a wizard at honing in on my weak points and he did an excellent job of really breaking things down and honestly, presenting concepts in more tangible ways than did any of my algebra teachers. I used the principles I learned from my sessions with Colin to get me through some challenging exam problems, and I'm proud to say that I ended up with a 97% in the class overall!"
"Michael is really professional, smart and very knowledgeable . He has been teaching Calculus and I am learning a lot through his classes. He is always wel
l prepare and make the classes very interesting. Overall and excellent teacher!"
"Daniel was an incredible tutor for Calculus Part 1, for a college course. I received his help a little late in the game but he did not shy away from the c
hallenge. He gave me advice, showed me how to do problems the proper way and even gave me tips on some shortcuts. I would highly recommend him as a math tutor because he is easy to understand, easy to talk to and makes you feel more knowledgeable."
"Colin is great! He helped my daughter with Calculus and she said she appreciated that he always took the time to make sure she thoroughly understood a pro
blem she was working on, before they moved on to the next one. Great teacher!"
"Being a Computer Science major in college, I really needed help with Calculus. I had to drop out my first semester taking it because I fell behind and cou
ldn't get a grasp of it. I needed extra help, and Marthe was there to help me out. She's a very good teacher, she's patient, and a great communicator. Her lessons are clear and concise, and she makes the work easy to understand. She helped me to pass Calculus with a B+, which I thought was unthinkable since I had so much trouble the first semester taking it. I'd recommend Marthe to anybody who needs help in a variety of subjects."
"I was struggling with calculus 1 at SMC and felt very intimidated before Daniel came along. He helped me understand what calculus was all about and always
explained new concepts clearly. Daniel went above and beyond his duties and was always on time. I ended up with an A and would highly recommend Daniel to any student with math needs. "
"Colin helped me through the last semester of IB Calculus. He would email me two days before each lesson so he was prepared with a relative lesson plan fo
r our hour long weekly session of review. He even created a video explaining a topic I was stuck on and sent it to me after our weekly session. I wouldn’t have gotten an A in the last semester without him. Thanks Colin."
Getting ready to take the AP Calculus test? Brush up on these study tips from Olympia, WA tutor Tali H...
The AP Calculus exam is rumored to be one of the harder AP tests - especially for those of us who math doesn't come easily to. The test takes three hours and 15 minutes, and has 45 multiple-choice questions and six short-answer questions. Both types have a non-calculator part and a calculator part. Even though it sounds daunting, with some determination and productive studying, …
