Music is a gift. My goal as a teacher is to share my knowledge of this gift with others, so that they too will have the ability to understand and enjoy the creation of music. Studying an instrument should be rewarding and I do my best to keep it a positive experience for my students. My method is versatile - custom fit for each individual who studies with me. It is my task as an educator to identify a student'€™s dominant learning style and use this information to engage him/her in the learning process. The ov

I am interested in making sure that the student not only comprehends the lessons, but feels a sense of pride in their accomplishments. Sebastian is having an amazing time with his teacher Jarrod. He looks forward to his lessons and practices very hard at home not only because he loves the drums but because he wants to impress his teacher. Jarrod is a smart and very talented instructor, he explains everything well and allows the student to feel comfortable embrace the lessons easily. Sebastian has a blast and grasps everything quickly thanks to Jarrod. He's an amazing musician and Sebastian is very happy and lucky to have him as an instructor.

Beginning Piano students will be taught the basics in a fun but productive way. I will teach a strong foundation so a student can move forward with confidence. Lessons would be individualized to focus on areas that need the most guidance.

Students will learn the basics about rhythm, harmony, and melody and how they apply to piano. They will become fluent in the 12 basic keys to a degree where you can play simple songs in any of them.

About Melissa
I have been teaching since 2006 on a variety of topics. I graduated with an BA from the University of Wisconsin. My degree is in History with and emphasis on East Asian history.

I've taught all age groups from age 2 up to retirees. My teaching experience includes one-on-one and group classes in a variety of settings. I've taught corporate classes, private lessons, small groups, and traditional classroom lessons.

We have a student-centric philosophy of learning. Lessons are generally relaxed and designed to work towards accomplishing student determined goals. While all students will study similar fundamentals regarding technique, theory, and performance, every lesson is as different as every person. Special focus on topics like music theory, self-accompaniment, composition, song writing, and home recording are available as well.

What are your personal goals? We'll tell you what you need to do to get there, and help you take the steps to achieve your aspirations.

Lessons with small children are more focused on just having fun while developing a good musical foundation, but we prefer for them to have as much personal ownership of their lesson as possible.

I can teach you to read sheet music, form chords, play scales, and perform songs. I really like to work one-on-one with the student and can teach at any pace. I have also taught interest based learning, where the student brings in a song they want to learn and we tackle it, including the theory behind why it sounds good.

About Courtney
I graduated with a degree in Biology and two minors in Chemistry and Music Technology. I have been playing guitar for 15 years and I was lucky enough to work in a music store through college. I learned instrument repair, sales, and music theory through my job and my minor. I also took lessons in middle school and into high school. After school, I taught special needs children music.

Whether you want to learn basics, expand your classical technique, or learn how to play your favorite pop songs, I'm ready to take your self-expression to the next level! I can't wait to start this journey with you. In your first few lessons, you'll learn basic music theory as well as piano etiquette, and even a few songs! As we go on, we will also incorporate ear training and more complex pieces, selected based on your personal goals. I can't wait to start this journey with you!

About Ellysa
Hello! My name is Ellysa and I am so excited to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2012 and have loved helping my students realize their potential, gain confidence, and find their own voice. I've taught piano for 10 years, and I'm passionate about composing songs.

About Stephen
Currently looking for new students.
I teach piano, japanese, chess, go(weiqi/baduk), and meditation/self-improvement.
I am very proficient in all of the above subjects and have helped dozens of students reach their long-term goals over the years. I am also very patient and have taught children piano lessons for more than 10 years. As a learner I know how overwhelming new subject-matter could be and I tend to understand the pace that the student needs/wants to go at.
I feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I see my students improving. I also am constantly improving myself as a teacher so the lessons will only get better and the material should be easier to understand with time.
Let's master anything you want to work on, and have a lot of fun too :)
Thanks for reading!

I hope you are having a great day so far. A little bit about myself - I've recently graduated from Rice University with my Master's of Music degree. I am a concert pianist, as well as a professional figure skater. I have toured with the production Holiday On Ice in Europe, performing both as a figure skater and a live musician.
Most importantly though, I have a passion for teaching and love to help my students improve. There is nothing more satisfying than communicating knowledge that I've learned to my students and see the progress build throughout the months of hard work. I have taken piano pedagogy courses throughout my undergraduate and master's studies, and am comfortable with teaching students of all ages and levels.
My piano teaching studio is set up at my apartment in Downtown, and I teach ice skating at the Galleria mall, Memorial city mall, as well as the Bellerive Ice Center.
