#### About Colin S.

CloseFinding a good physics teacher/tutor, for some odd reason, is perhaps more challenging than physics itself. Physics is actually quite fun when you have someone who can effectively communicate the more complex and counter-intuitive truths about the way our universe works.

As a physics tutor, my job is not to show off how much I know, but rather it's to help you find your understanding of the material and become great at it yourself. I do this by 1) not assuming you should "just know" how to properly set up a particular problem 2) not expecting you to "just get" why a particular phenomenon is the way it is 3) by asking you questions about what may be confusing or counter-intuitive, and using various approaches to explaining it until we find the one that works for your unique way of thinking about physical laws and properties.

##### About Colin

As a tutor, my goal is not to impress students with how much I know. Rather, my goal is to show my students how easily math and science concepts can come to them when they are presented the material in a straightforward way. The late physicist, Richard Feynman, posited that the ability to explain complicated ideas in a simple manner is the true mark of understanding. I agree with this a

My online teaching platform is a “black board” drawing program that my students can follow along with as I explain concepts and solve problems. I simply share my screen with them during the session, and at the end, I take a screenshot of the notes and email it to my students for their reference. I hope this brief explanation of my qualifications and teaching style has provided a clear image of what you can expect from me as your tutor. I am eager to hear from you and help you succeed in your academic goals!

#### About Michael F.

ClosePhysics is a subject that is extremely interesting and can be seen in everyday life. Students that I have tutored previously have come to find the beauty in seeing physics at play in everyday life.

##### About Michael

As far as teaching baseball, I played for a Division 1 team in college. I also worked in one of the largest baseball camps in the Northeast, the New York Baseball Academy, throughout my entire collegiate career. I taught children the fundamentals of hitting and fielding in a way that was fun and easy to learn.

#### About Jonathan C.

CloseI have been tutoring math for about 2 years. I have a specific teaching style with an emphasis on breaking down concepts into simple terms that could be easily absorbed and remembered to ensure that the objective of the lesson is understood. I love answering questions and helping people to understand concepts. Physics can be a very difficult subject to learn. My goal is to help my Student fully understand the concepts. Physics is all around us and is therefore an important topic to understand. I want my students to reach their full potential while having a great time learning!

#### About Hank L.

CloseI have been a science educator since 2008. My goal is to give you confidence that you can conquer physics! It's interesting science and, for me, helping you to experience that is important.

The aspect of physics that often makes a student nervous is math. I will help you with your math skills and with some tools that will help you do well in physics.

Learning physics can be a whole lot more interesting if you can have some fun while doing so. I use music, drawing, and even some outdoor activities to help my students master the knowledge of the world around them!

Thanks for considering me!

##### About Hank

That is the word around which I build my tutoring.

I want my students to enjoy learning about science. I want them to see and understand why it's useful, how knowing it can help them, and how it can be fun.

To get there, I focus on three things:

First, I try hard to make sure that every student does not lose sight of the overall connection between the very specific, sometimes technical details she is learning and the overarching point of the science. That helps keep the subject interesting.

Second, I work to help the student master the quantitative aspects of science. High school teachers generally emphasize that kind of calculation to a pretty significant degree and, besides, nervousness over the math often gets in the way of enjoying the learning and a better grade!

Third, I strive to develop a strong working relati

This variety helps to assure that a student has some fun while learning and to recognize that the sciences are exciting. If a student is encouraged to believe that, then she or he might not only improve their grade in science class. The student might just become open to some new dreams and, of course, gain alot more confidence.

I make myself available to email or text consultation with a student, with the parent's permission, outside of the regularly scheduled in-person meeting and I do not charge for that extra help.

Thanks for considering me!

#### About John M.

CloseHalf a decade of experience teaching on a variety of subjects to learners at nearly all levels. Subjects taught include classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, analog circuitry, statistical and thermal physics, quantum mechanics, relativistic physics, propositional logic, first order logic, modal logic, music theory, jazz improvisation, and saxophone. I started my educational journey as a musician, and it led me into physics. Anyone can succeed in physics! I approach physics as a discipline which consists primarily in problem solving, and will empower students to discover reoccurring patterns in the problems they face. This problem solving skill applies not only to physics, but universally to our everyday lives!

##### About John

His five years teaching experience spanning across a variety of subjects have shown him that any student can achieve their educational goals given the right guidance. His goal is to communicate to the student a complete understanding of the problem at hand, and to do so in a way that is exciting, entertaining, and humorous.

John is a 'right-brain' creative type who spent his youth studying jazz improvisation and music theory, gathering a small collection of awards from jazz festivals. With his father he founded and ran the 'Boise Student Jazz Jam' - a series of community jazz jam sessions spanning fro

When he entered his collegiate education he made a switch to the hard sciences. There he learned his creative skills could be put to use analyzing scientific problems from novel perspectives. He has spent three years in a biophysics research environment working on fluorescence microscopy and computational modeling of intragenomic interactions. His work has been published in the evolutionary intelligence journal.

While pursuing his physics degree, John fell in love with philosophy, and the philosophy of physics in particular. John has presented his philosophical work at several philosophy conferences, working at the confluence of physics and philosophy to improve our understanding of the fundamental nature of the universe.

More than all of this however, John loves teaching. From the first private saxophone lesson he taught to the physics lectures he now gives, he has found nothing more fulfilling than to share the perspectives he has worked to gain, and help students exceed the expectations they hold for themselves.

#### About Pete G.

ClosePhysics is the most fundamental of all sciences. It describes the way things work in the real world, so I encourage students to approach it first from an intuitive point of view. With my approach, you will not only do better in any physics course you're taking, but you can also expect to have a much better understanding of the world around you.

##### About Pete

I first began teaching French in 1965 when I was a 3rd year high school French student, helping other students who were struggling to learn the language. Everyone whom I helped showed great improvement in their comprehension.

I'm a retired physicist and engineer who worked as the senior scientist for a consulting engineering firm. Over the years I have helped many students who were having difficulty with algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus, as well as physics.

I remember what it was like to feel lost and intimidated by math problems that looked difficult. Geometry was easy for me, but algebra was

Similarly, I had a difficult time with high school calculus until I took physics. Once I saw that there was a practical use for the mathematics, it all became clear.

I know what my stumbling blocks were, and how I got past them. That's why I believe I can help anyone who's having a tough time with mathematics, at any level.
