Greetings!
My name is Elise Delap, and I am a professional actress with my MFA in Acting from the Northern Illinois University School of Theatre and Dance.
Throughout my career thus far, I have worked with young professional artists preparing them for auditions, whether they be professional or educational.
I know firsthand when I was applying for theatre schools straight out of high school, I really needed a mentor to help me find solid audition material, cut the pieces to the audition time requirements, professionalize my resume, and help me work my material so that it was active and confident... Not to mention look for schools that peaked my interest, along with compiling questions to ask programs about their specific training and teachings.
Let me be the one to help you put your best foot forward as a young artist entering the industry!
Sending warmth and health your way!

Acting and Shakespeare for Kids and Teens

As a classically trained actor who spent her undergrad years at NYU studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, Stephanie’s particular strength as a teacher lies in her ability to both give her students the tools to meet the demands of classical texts, while also helping them connect their inner truth to the emotional life of the character. Therefore, her work with young actors is based on three principle areas-

• Character- discovering who they are, their specific circumstances, and the students’ own personal connection to the role
• Voice and Text work- giving students the tools to understand and unlock the text, and speak it with confidence and freedom
• Fostering commitment, connection, generosity and specificity, the four basic tenants of the Shakespeare and Company educational curriculum (and all-around great tools for life!)

Coaching Sessions:
• For kids and teens ages 8-18
• High school, college, and professional ...

About Stephanie

Stephanie holds a BFA in drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and her MFA in classical acting from the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting at the George Washington University, where she studied with Michael Kahn, Gary Logan (author of The Eloquent Shakespeare) and Elle

I have been in this profession for 35 years. I have taught on many levels and for different ages including workshops for high school students and university level conservatory programs.

I believe that the theatre is an arena where we learn about who we are. Acting is being present in the moment and we learn how to live our lives more fully through this study. Each actor has his own unique voice and relationship to the material. It is my job to help each student find their own path.

About Corliss

I am an actress that has performed and taught for over 35 years. I love it! I can help you prepare for auditions, study structure, develop skills, get over fears of speaking in public or simply reach a deeper understanding of your favorite texts. As for teaching voice-acting for voice-overs, I

I initially had Corliss as a voice over teacher in a class, then decided to further my work with her as a coach and producer to create my voiceover demos. We covered all aspects of voiceover, including the physical: posture, microphone placement, etc., which I believe really enhanced my understanding of how physicality comes across via the voice. With her classical acting background, she was able to help me improve my overall speaking technique and provided me with vocal exercises to help minimize my regionalisms.

She was diligent in reviewing competitive demos to guide me to a variety of written copy and voice/energy levels that will help my demos stand up to those with more experience. She provided valuable advice regarding selection and use of materials for the demo and beyond as well as insights on the voiceover business.

I’m very pleased with the results of the two demos and expect to continue to take advantage of her coaching services as I grow in my new career.

Corliss is a master at her craft! She makes you feel comfortable from the moment you meet her and has a genuine interest in your goals. Corliss tailored lessons to my learning style which was very encouraging for someone with my level of experience. She has a lovely personality and her enthusiasm is infectious. I would highly recommend taking lessons from Corliss!
Steve
I took a five-session Beginning Voice Acting class with Corliss in a professional recording studio. The critiques she gave me after every recording I made helped me to speak more clearly, and to increase the energy I was able to put into my recorded presentations. Without the critiques of my recordings, I would not have been able to improve my speaking ability. During the class, she made sure everyone in the class was made to feel welcome, and important. When I take the next level of the Voice Acting class series, I will be looking forward her critiques of my recorded presentations.

Our first lesson with Mallory was wonderful. We were looking for a music coach for our 11 year old, who has interests in vocals, guitar, and writing pop songs. Mallory has skills in all these areas, and did a fantastic job listening to our son’s goals, dividing the 1st lesson into manageable chunks, and keeping things fun for a tween. And my son was blown away by Mallory’s fluency in pop music!!

"Chad provided excellent technique coaching in Shakespearean Acting. I had the opportunity to work with him in one on one sessions and also in a group setting. Both kinds of sessions gave me unique tools like ensable building and utilizing Shakespeare’s text along with all its double meanings. He is easily able to cater to each individual actors needs and really understands how to help break bad habits in order to allow for more growth. Along with text work, Chad provided excellent coaching in creating distinct physical shifts in the body when playing multiple characters in a show. Chad was always willing to answer any kind of questions and continued to surprise me with the ways he could shed some new light on Shakespeare’s work."

I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for the lines than which I have learned in school. I would highly recommend his coachings to any actor!"

"As part of a summer training program, Sophia coached me on two Shakespeare monologues, and I absolutely loved working with her! She shared lots of valuable insight with me that helped me really dig into the text, personalize it, and connect with the characters on a deeper level. Her guidance helped me make lots of great discoveries in our sessions together, and I've been able to apply that guidance to lots of other pieces as well. I would work with her again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a monologue coach!"

"Michael is a fantastic teacher! He helped me work on my Cleopatra among other great characters. He is focused, knowledgeable, passionate and has a profound manner in making the text accessible-current and personal. I used to have difficulty relating to a piece, the language intimidated me. Michael helped me to make the text my own, coming from my own heart. It changed how I worked on everything, both classical and modern."

"I`ve been taking Shakespearean acting lesson with Michael for a month now and I am very satisfied with him and his method.
Although, I have much of prior acting experience, I was quite unfamiliar with Shakespeare´s plays, lofty language and his metaphors, Michael helped me get to the essence of it very quickly.

He´s a very reliable and effective acting teacher. He`s also punctual, always arrives on time with a plan of what we are hoping to achieve in each lesson. His clear and structured method of teaching enables steady progression.
I definitely recommend him."

Anthony is the type of teacher that knows your potential and will do everything he can to push your skills to the next level. I can't say enough amazing things about him!"

She put me at ease right away and from the very beginning showed such excitement to be working with me. She comes prepared, takes the session very seriously, but also has fun with it so time flies by.
