I come from an engineering background so math and science have always been a part of my life. I have been tutoring Calculus and Physics for years and enjoy the opportunity to work with others to help them understand it as well.

I am a goal oriented individual and that comes through in my teaching. I try to be as objective as I can, working towards tests, homework, quizzes. Going through practice problems is often the best way of identifying challenges and strengthening your knowledge as a whole. Whatever you decide your math and science goal is, I am looking forward to helping you work towards it.

I taught myself calculus freshman year of HS. I know firsthand how difficult it is to learn math, but I have overcame these challenges myself and will guide you to overcome them too. I stress understanding/intuition rather than memorizing boring formulas as that's how I learned it myself.

I also have close to 8 years of math/computer science tutoring experience, which will surely come in handy!

About Bill

I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.

"My interactions with Nicky have mainly included his support on multivariable calculus topics. In my experience, there are few teachers who can help synthesize the material from as many different angles as Nicky can. Specifically, as an international student myself, I would typically understand topics somewhat differently as compared to how it was explained in my courses; to a certain extent I was probably a prisoner of my math foundations acquired in a different educational system that had taught me how to solve problems sets but not necessarily to see or appreciate all the possible real world applications that these concepts would have. It has always been appreciated that Nicky would go through the crux of the problem and show me the concept applicability to the real world, which was critical for me to have a truly decent understanding of the material. It must also be highlighted that Nicky has a strong understanding of cultural differences and how students with different educational backgrounds learn best, which I believe makes him one of the top resources for international students (and not only) to leverage Nicky’s support and ensure smooth transition to a new educational environment. I would fervently recommend Nicky as a tutor / teacher to anyone in need."

"Nicky will be the best tutor you have ever had - guaranteed. I was absolutely blessed to share the same house as Nicky in University. As a math concentrator at Harvard, I was often in over my head when it came to quantitative classes, and Nicky was my go to instructor (through an awesome arrangement with the BSC) on any problem set, project, or class I needed help with.

Nicky assisted me with Single & Multi Variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, Statistics and Differential Equations to name a few of the core classes I solicited his assistance for. He is a very patient, calm and thorough instructor. He will show you the concept through multiple lenses as many times as you need to see it so that you understand it. This is only possible because of his deep understanding of the subjects he teaches. Other things I like about his tutoring: he comes prepared, he outlines the lesson, he adjusts to your comfort level, and synthesizes the concepts for you and relates them to daily life (the one thing I absolutely need in a teacher).

I still reach out to Nicky today if I need to discuss or refresh complicated concepts that come up at work - thank you Nicky!"

How to Score a 5 on the AP Calculus Test

Getting ready to take the AP Calculus test? Brush up on these study tips from Olympia, WA tutor Tali H...   The AP Calculus exam is rumored to be one of the harder AP tests - especially for those of us who math doesn't come easily to. The test takes three hours and 15 minutes, and has 45 multiple-choice questions and six short-answer questions. Both types have a non-calculator part and a calculator part. Even though it sounds daunting, with some determination and productive studying, …
