This video is a wonderful introduction to our solar system in a family/kid friendly fashion.  We think aged 5-9 will enjoy this video.

I am a Musical Director who has scored original music for many motion pictures and television and was musical arranger for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. I've scored and arranged original music for several television shows including, Desperate Housewives, MTV's Making the Band, It's Showtime at the Apollo and numerous series on PBS, A & E and Disney, . I have also served as on-set vocal and piano coach for many Disney TV series.  

As a piano instructor, I believe in giving every student a foundation in classical music..  I enjoy teaching and playing Jazz and pop as well.

I've worked with students  ages 5-90.  I simply love the teaching process and respect every student's journey.  Mixing structure and discipline with a positive teaching style, I work to inspire students to be their best within a well structured curriculum that is fun and engaging.

Music must be fun...always!

*** Lesson Details ***
My students see progress.  I don't believe in cookie-cutter instruction.  I take the time to learn a students individual comprehension of the musical language and their learning style.  I also build a practice schedule that is realistic and creates growth.  Music instruction should not feel like a burden, but should be joyful.  It's a process I have respected.  Whether you are 90 or 9, you can learn music, love music and feel its presence by playing an instrument or singing.  My job is to communicate that joy and show you how you can do it for yourself.

Learning to master a musical instrument is a two way commitment and I will always give you my full effort as I love the results.

For beginning Piano-Intermediate, I have embraced the James Bastien series, as I believe it paces the young student and builds a foundation on a musical and pedagogical level.
Vocally, I follow a classical technique, but use that foundation as a basis to meet the goals of the singer for the style they want to achieve.

I am an MIT tutor specializing in math and science, and I have taught math anywhere between pre-algebra and calculus (including algebra) for 5 years.  have taken AP Calculus BC while in high school, and I have taken Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations at MIT, and I actively participated in many math competitions through elementary, middle, and high schools.

I majored in Biology at MIT, where I took several courses on biochemistry, cell biology, general chemistry, genetics, human diseases, introductory physics, molecular biology, organic chemistry, organic chemistry. As a result, I can help students with biology in many levels, including I also conducted research on cancer and tissue engineering at the Massachusetts General Hospital, the National Institutes of Health, MIT, and Harvard-MIT HST.

Before the lessons, I like to talk with parents, students, and/or teachers to fully gauge what they have been struggling with and how to best help them. Then I identify the student's gap in knowledge while helping them complete their homework and give them additional drilling problems as needed to help them fully master the materials and do well on their tests.

For the best results, I recommend 1.5-hour of lessons twice a week. However, this will also depend on the student's academic background. I believe in in-depth learning. In-depth learning helps my student build the foundation necessary to succeed in their future courses. To facilitate this type of learning, many of my lessons feature derivation of formulas. For the lessons that do not involve formulas, I present a few simple concepts from which we can derive and solve many other problems. My lessons also feature numerous questions to enhance student engagement and to improve student confidence of having them solve the problem on their own as much as possible. I then drill my students with practice problems and get them to explain until I'm fully convinced that my students truly understood the material.

Though I specialize in gifted students, I also have worked with students from all kinds of background. Most of my students are either high school or college students, but I also worked with younger students. I also helped some students implement organizational tips and develop study skills necessary to succeed in their future classes. My students are from all over the world--China, France, Korea, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Vietnam, and United States. To this day, my closest friends are still the international students. English is my second language as well, and I certainly empathize with students who struggle with the English language.
