From the Beatles to Bach to the Beastie Boys.

About Adrienne
"So Russell, what do you love about music?"

"To begin with...everything."

One of my favorite quotes from my favorite movie, Almost Famous.

I'll spare you the snooze worthy details of my background, which is probably similar to everyone's profile on here. Instead I'll highlight what sets me apart.

Broad Music Style and Interest - On any given day, I can listen to, perform, practice, or play everything from the Beatles to Bach to the Beastie Boys

Extensive Training - I studied with the Principal Harpist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and have performed with the prestigious Curtis Symphony Orchestra

Focused but Fun - I keep students on task but have a light hearted, humorous approach to teaching.

Communicative - I'm available 24/7 (well, minus the hours I'm sleeping) if you have any questions during your practice durin
g the week. I accept text messages and videos. I support you at all times!

References and Experience - I've been teaching for over 10 years and believe I have a fresh approach to an outdated teaching method.

Adrienne is a professional teacher with stunning credentials! My previous harp teacher highly recommended her to me to continue my studies as a therapeutic harpist. She has a beautiful performance style and a great personality. Her teaching skills are amazing. In 6 months, she has improved my tone, timing, and technique so much that people at my facilities are inviting me to play at their events. And that is the proof. Thank you Adrienne!

What a great first lesson! I chose Adrienne for a harp teacher because of her description, "From the Beatles, to Bach, to the Beastie Boys..." I'm a classically trained guitarist, full-time guitar teacher, and contemporary guitar/vocal performer. I bought a Celtic harp last spring, thought maybe I could learn via Youtube videos. Nope. Not enough good instruction, not enough motivation. I was thrilled to find that Adrienne is BIG on technique, as I am with my guitar students. She was so encouraging throughout our Take Lessons Classroom session! I have a lot of practicing to do before next week's lesson, and I am so psyched!

Adrienne taught my daughter Harp. Adrienne was incredible with her, making her feel comfortable and happy to be playing, even when my daughter did not want to play. I especially liked how she was always on time, never late.

We will work from the bottom up, starting with proper breathing and warm up exercises.
Scale work and technical drills are made fun through games and other means to keep things interesting :)
Repertoire work will be chosen according to experience level after basic assessment, we can work together to find something you enjoy playing.
Basic theory and music history will be addressed naturally as we work through new pieces!

I am more than happy to work on any other music you are currently playing for school or other ensembles.

Let's have fun and work hard!

About Kristin
Hello!

I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.

At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs.
I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.

I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and
my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.

I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students as well.

I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!

Flute instruction that includes technique work on tone quality, agility, and musicality in a fun and supportive environment. Recitals twice per year.

About Anna-Lisa
June Lessons available!! Only want a few lessons or to get a jump start on the next school year???? June is the perfect month with the option of performing at the end of the month even if you have only had a few lessons! The studio closes for the month of July and reopens in August.

I grew up with music surrounding me. Both my parents play many instruments and they have passed that love on to me and my brothers. I started singing as a toddler and piano and flute came soon after. I love to teach, am patient and help my students to achieve their best. I create an environment for my students to feel safe expressing themselves, making mistakes, laughing and honing their musical language.

In my voice lessons I teach solid technique focusing on bringing out the beauty of each individual's voice giving them the tools to be able to sing musi
cally. I've been told by students that they have learned more from me in 2 lessons then they have working with prior teachers for years.

I earned my BM in Vocal Performance from the distinguished Eastman School of Music. I have earned the Bravo!Scholar and Howard Hanson award as well as first place in the Schubert Club vocal competition. I continue my studies with acclaimed Mezzo-soprano Gail Dubinbaum in Phoenix and I am a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

I've sung all over the united states as well as in Germany and Italy. I performed the role of Frasquita in Phoenix Opera's production of Carmen as well as La Fata Azzurra in "La Bella Dormente nel Bosco" and as Sister Constance in "Dialogues des Carmelites" of which I was acclaimed by reviewers to have "revealed a luminous voice, and sang with ease and spontaneity." I have been a soloist with the St Paul Chamber Orchestra as well as with the Eastman Collegium. This past December I was a featured soloist with the Phoenix Symphony and returned to the Phoenix Opera to perform The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute as well as worked with the Ohio Light Opera performing the lead roles of Hannah Glawari in "The Merry Widow" and Madame Pompadour in "Madame Pompadour."

I'm equally comfortable with musical theater and have played leading roles in many productions including Marian in "The Music Man," Laurie in Oklahoma, Margy in "State Fair," Rapunzel in "Into the Woods," and Mrs. Gardiner in the premier production of "Pride and Prejudice."

My students have advanced in the Classical Singer National Competition, Arizona Fiesta Chorus Competition, Hot Pipes Competition, and have been accepted to and attended summer programs at distinguished music schools including Westminster College and Eastman School of Music. They also perform with local theaters including Copperstar Theater, Moezart Productions, EVCT and more.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every vocal student will have different talents and struggles and will be at different levels so, I structure my lessons for the individual. However, with every student I focus on teaching correct breathing and healthy vocal use to enhance the natural beauty of the voice.

Overall I have a laid back, humorous personality. I work to help the student achieve their goals whether its to be able to sing better in the shower or to become a professional musician. I offer 2 recitals per year to perform at and often form duets/trio's out of my students. I also offer studio classes for my singers who desire to have more performing experience with immediate encouraging feedback and for my more advanced singers I offer Master classes with guest artists to perform at and attend.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room w/ piano, books, mirror, and seating for parents. Parents can observe if the student is comfortable with that but, I do not allow parents to comment on the student's singing of performance during the lesson.

*** Travel Equipment ***
If they are a voice student they will need a piano, and they will need to purchase their own music and if possible purchase a recording device to record lessons and technique exercises. If they are a flute student, they will need to provide the music, and the instrument. If they are a piano student, obviously they would need a piano and would provide their own music based on my suggestion.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Opera, Operetta, Broadway, and jazz. I also teach pop, rock and country. On the piano and flute I teach classical and contemporary. I do not teach jazz piano or flute.

I started taking flute lessons with Stephanie last September 2016. I have been playing flute since 2011 and play regularly at church. I take a hour long lesson. I have really enjoyed taking lessons from her. She has also been willing to adjust to my schedule, when she could, when work won’t allow me to make it to my normal lesson.
I had been taking lessons from another flute teacher since 2011 and knew it was time to change. Stephanie has always been able to help me. She is very knowledgeable about all questions and problems I was having on playing the flute or reading music. When questioning a technique she is able to demonstrate it or explain it in a different way so I could understand it. I’ve always had trouble with the high notes and alternate fingering and she definitely has helped me on those. Stephanie personally is a lot more enjoyable than my last teacher. She always seems happy to see me.
I also play Low Flutes and just bought my first Bass Flute. She also plays low flutes.

Strong instrumental playing begins with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of music and the simple act of making a sound from the instrument. Students learn to play music by ear first, and are later introduced to music notation. More advanced lessons emphasize sight-reading, expression, and improvisation.

A woodwind player since age 10, Thomas has experience as a performer and teacher. His previous education has included methodology classes on teaching specific instruments, and he is available to teach beginning flute lessons.

About Thomas
Piano, woodwinds, trumpet, composition
Chords, sight-reading, theory, jazz, classical, and pop

No one ever regrets learning an instrument… yet many grow old wishing they had taken music lessons! A talent they’ll be able to develop their entire life, your children will thank you for giving them the chance to learn music. And bonus points for you: after just a couple years, you’ll have free entertainment every Christmas!

Or maybe YOU’RE the one that wishes to learn! It is never too late to begin learning an instrument. Everybody has the ability, and if you’re determined and interested, there’s nothing stopping us from achieving this very special goal. (Interested in learning to compose? Scroll to the bottom to learn more.)

Everybody learns differently, and everybody likes different things. Whether it’s improvising or singing alon
gside a song you love or reading through a classical concerto, I’ll help prepare you or your child to tackle a wide variety of styles, without missing out on any of the basics that turn good players into phenomenal musicians. We all know it’s not about being the best. It’s about having fun, and playing music well is definitely fun. Music lessons include:

1. Building a really strong foundation so it's easy to interpret or understand any part, and to play it with the right amount of practice.

2. Learning to sight-read music, so you can play it well as soon as possible.

3. Learning how to improvise (make-up) music, learn music by ear, and to understand and create chords, which lets you play music in different ways.

4. Play different styles from classical to jazz to popular music.

5. Learning how to practice efficiently so you can learn music as fast as possible.

6. Composing our own original music.

Practice makes perfect! Learning an instrument helps build self-confidence and discipline. If your child’s bored, distracted, or just needs a constructive hobby, music is a great place to get them interested in something that will help them feel better about themselves, and the effects will be felt across everything else they do, through better studying habits to a more patient, diligent work ethic.

It’s also relaxing! Stressed about work? Need an escape? Everybody has the power to learn an instrument. Seriously, there’s no such thing as “talent.” Just start lessons and get practicing! It really is that simple, and I’ll guide you through every step of the way.

I have a diverse background teaching students of all ages, from 3-year-olds to retirees alike, customizing what we learn to the individual student. We’ll learn how to read music just as easily as you read words; improvise and compose music of our own; and feel good playing any style: classical, jazz, rock, and all. My experience as a working musician in films, musical theater, and pop music, as well as classical concert music, allows me to appreciate and teach styles that many other instructors overlook, and I know full well that learning an instrument is not about becoming a professional; it’s about being able to connect to others or oneself through music… and also to just have fun! There’s no need to learn music we don’t like! It’s not about stuffing Beethoven into your kids’ ears… we just want to make music, be that Beethoven or Billy Joel.

Learning an instrument is one of those few skills that will genuinely last you your whole life. I don’t want to sugarcoat it: it takes time to learn an instrument. It takes practice, and sometimes it’s frustrating. But the results are well worth it.

Now get out there and make some music! But start by signing up for lessons. I can’t wait to get started!

---

“What’s that chord?” “Why does all my music sound the same?” “How do I fix this voicing?” “I just can’t get it out of my head!” …sound familiar? You’ve probably hit a rut. Or maybe you’re just starting out. Either way, you want your music to sound new, exciting, and to come out exactly how you hear it in your head. Yes… you CAN learn to compose music, you CAN learn to be more creative, and you CAN learn to share your sound with the world.

Film music, classical, jazz… whatever your interest, all music comes from the same place, and by learning a handful of basic concepts, you can apply these to whatever style you’re trying to write. Learning to emulate another musician involves knowing what they’re doing. Learning to create a groundbreaking sound requires that you know what’s already been done, and how to achieve it. Step by step, we’ll work our way there.

We’ll learn how to write cool, interesting chord progressions, how to write beautiful melodies, and how to voice chords. We’ll learn how to control the mood of our music, from making it sound relaxed to adding tension wherever we want. Maybe you’re trying to write for an orchestra, or just a small band. By learning the basics, you can then easily break away from what’s been done and come up with something truly new… the goal of any aspiring composer!

I fell in love with the flute at the age of 5 after hearing my aunt play. When I first tried to play, I couldn't make a sound. However, I decided I wanted to play flute in my school band anyway at the age of 10 years old. I ended up learning the flute and excelling as a first chair player all through high school. In college, I continue to playing because I loved it and planned to major in music education.
I would like to teach beginning and intermediate students how to play an instrument I absolutely love. I will include scales, tonguing, breathing and other basics of instrumental music for woodwind instruments focusing on flute. Additionally, I will give ideas on solos or things for students to focus on or practice in the future.

About Lorie
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I tutor Algebra, Flute and Psychology. I have been tutoring in Algebra for over 9 years because it's fun for me, which I know is hard to believe! I like to help students to really understand the concepts they need to know for future endeavors or to at least get through class. I offer homework help for students or general help for people who need to brush up on certain concepts.

Additionally, I like giving flute lessons because I have received lessons in the past and I know how helpful and motivating they are. Lessons help you to outline what your goals are for playing. Plus, you have someone to critique your playing and give you correct instruction in areas where you are weak.

I majored in psychology and love learning all about it. The schools of thought and how our brain learns and
works is fascinating to me. I hope you will feel the same way after learning about the subject.

Experience:
I have an Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho. I started as a major in music education and math education, and decided they were not for me because I preferred tutoring, instead of teaching a lot of students at once. I couldn't stand leaving a student behind to struggle on their own and possibly give up on something due to time constraints or not understanding how something was taught. I prefer to work with students one on one or in small groups, so they receive individualized attention. I like to tailor my lessons to each student and really focus on what they need help with to build a solid foundation for the next stepping stone in their education, whether it's Algebra or Flute.

I have tutored in math for over 9 years. Most of that is 9 years solid, but I started with part time here and there as a middle school student.
I also started teaching flute lessons as a high school student to beginning middle school students at the request of my band teacher.

I truly believe if you set your mind to learn something, you can. We are so lucky to be living in an age when education can be found easily. I hope you will consider taking lessons with me so we can help each other learn!

I always begin lessons with some form of warm up to focus on beauty in tone and then I follow that with exercises that build technique. I am happy to work with students with whatever method book they are currently using but I am also happy to suggest method books and literature that I feel could further guide their growth. My lessons are very student-centered in that I see what the student's goals are and work from there. I adjust my lessons based on how the student is performing that day. I am happy to teach students of any age and of any ability level!
