About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

She was patient without being patronizing. I like that she assessed how well I was working on something then moved on as soon as she felt it was appropriate.

Sergey taught me about everything I had questions about and also offered suggestions in helping me to better determine the best way to find the career path that is right for me. Rather than hard and fast lessons, it was an opportunity to spend time, one on one, with a professional and learn from his experiences what works and what doesn't.

About Sandra
Crochet is a fun and portable craft that keeps your mind and hands busy. Since the early 80's, I have been crocheting and knitting although I am much more proficient in crochet.

I feel like I am a successful teacher since I have an easy going, friendly manner that helps take the stress away from learning a new skill. I like to meet my students in person in the safety of a public place like a coffee shop or library near their home.

I think it helps to be present and able to see how the student is holding the hook and yarn and help them make any adjustments if needed. It's also nice to be able to give encouragement and any suggestions when I'm sitting right next to a student.

I will bring extra hooks and yarn for you to practice with, plus written tips and cheat sheets. All you have to do is show up and have fun learning to
crochet!

About PASCAL
Well not every teacher has the same approach to teaching, but so far as I'm concerned my students are always welcome to come up with altertate ways of working with the clay, and I know of more than one way to get a similar result. Ceramics is a mix of materials science and art/expression. Taking that into account not everyone can adhere to the traditional techniques due to degree of physical needs to complete some tasks. For instance, some people have problems wedging the clay(its similar to kneading dough), which is a way to make the clay into a uniform consitancy and rid the clay of air pockets before making your ceramic art. While I was in Jingdezhen China, I learned a way to gain both the consistancy and making the clay void of air pockets through a method of throwing the clay on a clean surface in a specific manner to get the same re
sult. Basically my meaning is that the same thing doesnt work for every student and I try to facilitate the lesson to the students needs, so that they can enjoy the lesson and continue to make ceramics without being discouraged.
