About Stephen
Stephen made his operatic debut in the title role of Gluck's Orfeo in Santa Barbara, CA. Other roles performed in the United States have been Oberon in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the title role in John Eccles' The Judgement of Paris and Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito by Mozart. Among the roles sung in Europe were Orlolsky in Fledermaus, Bertarido in Rodelinda and Oberon in Sommernachtstraum. He has been a soloist in many Churches and Synagogues in the United States and Europe. Highlights have been Messiah, Elijah, St. Mathew Passion and Cantorial soloist for the Jewish High Holidays. He appeared in Summer Stock and played the guitar in a number of bands. Reviewers have cited Stephen's naturally full and warm timbre and his unforced agility.

Stephen has a strong interest and knowledge in vocal technique and maintains a s
tudio in Manhattan. He has given many workshops on vocal technique and had a large studio in Amsterdam, Holland, where lived for six years. He taught music at the International School of Amsterdam and has taught voice, piano and guitar privately for more than twenty years. He has a master's degree from Manhattan School of Music and presently teaches voice, piano and guitar and also works with learning challenged adults and children in the Music School in New York City.

My first lesson was great! Stephen goes into great detail and is very encouraging. Being someone who has never sung before, and who doesn't like the sound of his voice, I'll admit that I left the class with more confidence than I had imagined I'd get from a first lesson.

He's wonderful!
He goes slowly and answers all my music questions and is patient when I'm stressed
Also brings me music that I want to play and encourages me never a negative word or attitude! Also flexible! My schedule changes and he's been so accommodating! Stephen is the best

The piano is often referred to as the instrument every musician should start off learning. The way it is laid out makes it very easy to see how music works and fits together. In lessons, we'll be sure to cover all the basics of technique, rhythm, harmony and melody and even theory to ensure a solid foundation to build upon. I tend to teach these concepts through the use of various etude/method books as well as listening exercises to ensure a well rounded approach to learning in order to become a more well rounded musician.

About Bill
Bill is multi-instrumentalist, jazz musician, composer, arranger and educator. He developed a strong connection to music early in life through some family tradition, encouraging parents and many inspiring and influential teachers. He has gone on to perform alongside a number of noteworthy artists and ensembles and has toured extensively overseas and throughout North America.

His love for music came to life though performances with several ensembles in public school, regional big bands and his own jazz saxophone quartet. He is a graduate of the Purchase College Conservatory of Music's Jazz Studies program and has recently become a graduate of New Jersey City University's M.M. Multiple Woodwind Performance program.

Following two years performing abroad on cruise ships and the national tour of Young Frankenstein: The Musical, he was dr
awn back to New York City. Performing regularly on piccolo, flute, alto flute, clarinet, bass clarinet and all saxophones, he is proving to be valued asset in the NYC music scene.

Bill performs regularly with his group, Bill Todd and the Sixth Generation, while also working as a Broadway pit musician, a sideman and a private music teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every student is unique, therefore, lessons are designed to fit the student individually. My teaching style is molded to satisfy each students wants and needs. I also like to focus on developing proper playing habits. I see it as my job to help my students understand and develop the proper techniques to eliminate bad habits in order for them to be the best they can be on their instrument. Lessons are about having fun making music, learning, and improving.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Chairs, music stands and keyboard for harmonic discussions.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to bring their own music notebook and their own instrument. They may also need to purchase their own lesson books when the time comes.

*** Specialties ***
I can help my students learn how to play in a variety of styles ranging from classical (solos, chamber music, etudes, etc.) to jazz (improvisation, harmony, etc.). Whether they're working on a song to play at school, a NYSSMA or All County solo, or just learning for fun, I will help them play to the best of their ability.

What I learn on first Contact for Flute Lesson.

Correct posture will reduce pain in your arms and wrists because the weight of the flute is not resting on the shoulders. By correctly aligning the flute with your head and neck, pain in the arms will be reduced.
The position of the flutist’s head is closely related to the neck position. If your head is properly balanced on your neck, then you will be able to bring your arms effortlessly up to your flute without pain. If your neck tenses, your spine will tense up as well. In particular, playing softly tends to cause tension in the neck, because it takes more concentration to play with food tone softly

About Elisabetta
Originally from Rome, Italy, Elisabetta immersed herself in musical and classical studies since an early age. Traveling with her family, she had the opportunity to experience the most prestigious music productions in Europe and the United States. The choice to be an active part of the music world as a professional was inevitable and only natural.
She attained a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and Music Teaching, from the Conservatory of Music Refice, Italy.
She developed a long career teaching music, providing music education instruction, encompassing practice of an instrument, history of music, and music theory. She taught classes with approximately twenty-five students, maintaining a sharp, consistent focus on correlating music to academics.
Through instrument instruction (piano, recorder, and key board) she was successful i
n developing skills in students such as discipline and concentration. The experience of practicing and producing beautiful music enhanced the self esteem of even the most difficult pupils, improving their achievements also in mathematics, science, language arts and other academic subjects.
While teaching, Elisabetta never stopped performing for various Cultural Associations in Solo Concerts and Chamber Music.
In New York for family and business reasons since 1999, Elisabetta continued her successful teaching career throughout these years, giving lessons to children and adults alike. Some of her students came from the Martha Graham School of Modern Dance, The Neighborhood Playhouse and Opera Singers.

My daughter adores Elisabetta, and with good reason. Elisabetta is an expert in the fine art of balancing warmth and gentleness with rigorous instruction and an insistence on the importance of technique.

My daughter has been playing piano for several years, and she wants to be treated as a mature tween, not a small child who must be praised for simply getting through a piece. On the other hand, she can also be hypersensitive and react badly to criticism; she will think someone is angry with her on the slightest provocation. In other words, she is a very tough customer! But somehow, miraculously, Elisabetta gets it perfectly right, and my daughter feels respected and encouraged.

I am extremely grateful to have found such a gracious and skilled instructor, and I'm very pleased with the progress my daughter is making.

My son has been practicing piano with Elisabetta for more than a year and the progress he has made during this period really made me happy and proud. My son not only learned the skills of piano but also gained the passion for music from Elisabetta, who demonstrated great professionalism in piano , as well as the zeal for music and the love for kids. She has a very organized approach to get kids interested in music, while not getting bored with basic skills. I start to realize (only after a year of my son's piano practice) how important it is to have a musician specialized in piano as a teacher for my son's continuous development of his piano skills. I am very glad that I have made a wise decision at the early stage. My son always looks towards to the piano lessons at Elisabetta's house and he can get very sad when we have to miss the lessons from time to time. It is still very surreal for me to watch a super active 7 year old boy sitting in front of the piano for hours or listen to the cds quietly for a long time recommended by Elisabetta. Both my son and I are very thankful to the great teacher.

I have been teaching piano for three years. I am happy to get students moving in the right direction on piano, and will teach up to an intermediate level of playing, from Beethoven to Joplin.

I prefer is to use a method book, which introduces and reinforces music fundamentals. Simultaneously, I like to allow the student to select a piece of music that they will enjoy learning and playing. This helps the student apply the often challenging fundamentals to music that they enjoy.

My students have fun, and with practice, learn a lot!

About Timothy
I am a songwriter, composer, and performer living in New York City. I am a formally trained musician with considerable real world performing experience. Teaching music is something I enjoy immensely and something I am extremely passionate about.

During my time as a college student studying music, I began teaching guitar lessons. I found the work to be extremely rewarding. I was happy to be spreading a bit of love for music around, and I believe I made some lasting impressions. I continued to teach music lessons after I graduated, expanding to teach piano as well.

The more I taught, the more I found sincere joy in teaching. As I was was getting to know each of my students better, I realized that I was doing more than just teaching music lessons. I was acting as an example, a friend, and a counselor of sorts. I realized th
at each lesson was an opportunity to influence each of my students in a positive way, however small or large. To be granted that opportunity was truly thrilling.

I teach guitar from beginner to advanced levels of performance, in many styles. I teach piano up to an intermediate level. I specialize in Jazz, Folk, Blues, Rock, Funk, and pretty much any contemporary style a student might be interested in learning. Although not my specialty, I am capable of teaching classical styles as well.

I am very excited to teach anyone interested in learning about the wonders of music, and I love to work with all ages.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my lessons, students can expect to have lots of fun, and learn a lot. I like to think that my students always enjoy their lessons with me. I am friendly, warm, personable, caring, and fun. I strive to find the perfect balance between learning the important fundamentals of music, and just plain enjoying music. Music takes hard work, but music is supposed to be fun!

I consider myself to be a laid back person, and I do not expect any strict formalities when interacting with students. I feel that the more comfortable a student is, the more easily that student can learn and have fun doing so. However, I do expect my students to thoroughly practice, to focus, and to strive to improve.

I tailor each lesson to a student's particular needs. Everyone learns and interprets music in different ways, so I strive to serve each of my students uniquely. From basic fundamentals to advanced techniques, I cover everything. I also give each student an opportunity to choose some music that they would enjoy learning.

My curriculum changes depending on the student's ability level, age, and instrument of choice. I typically use a method book for reinforcement of musical fundamentals, and a supplementary "project" piece of music that the student enjoys playing and learning. I do this so that my students can see direct connections between music fundamentals and playing music that they enjoy. My own personal knowledge and experience as a musician is always added to each lesson as well.

*** Travel Equipment ***
For guitar lessons, I provide my guitar and any equipment that the student may not have initially, like for example, their own guitar, or music stand. Piano students will need their own keyboard for the very first lesson. The student should eventually provide their own instrument and equipment, such as their own guitar, music stand, and copy of the selected method book; all of which are things that they will need in order to pursue practicing on their own time.

*** Specialties ***
I am capable of teaching using many methods, styles, and genres, depending on the student and their particular needs. However, I specialize in jazz, folk, and rock styles, as well as improvisation.

Lessons are tailored to your needs, so we will discuss goals, methods, and practicing strategies to keep you excited, directed, and successful.
For beginning pianists, I use a variety of piano methods, including Faber, Bryanskaya, 4-hand repertoire, and my own materials. I also take advantage of my training in the Dalcroze Eurhythmics approac

Mr. Aaron is an amazing teacher. He is knowledgeable, very patient and very helpful. After taking several lessons with Mr. Aaron, I realized playing piano is a much more delicate form of art than I had thought.

In Mr. Aaron's class, piano playing, understanding of music, music theory and the culture of music are nicely combined. I've learned playing piano before, but have never been so happy and learning so much.

I feel very lucky to learn music with Mr. Aaron.

I offer fun, creative, serious ways of learning how to be a complete musician, I am able to teach you how to play piano at a beginning to intermediate level, guitar, mostly beginning level, voice any level but not expert yet in all of this and so that is why I take
lessons myself in NYC to always get better. I am trained in the classical methods, but happy to experiment with others. I believe a solid technique in any level is the foundation and then, if you need more expertise, I am happy to refer you to others I know who teach in that style.

Each lesson , depending on your age, will have some kind of technical work, such as drills, work on whatever level you are at in music theory, sight reading, musicality and all components that would make you a complete musician, as I have been trained You will also have some FUN because it just would get boring and then practicing would be a pain instead of inspiring you. Games, little fun tests spelling musical words and the like,.

*** Studio Equipment ***
So, yes, great equipment at various studios that I can teach at all over the NYC metro area. If curious, for piano lessons, can use a portable keyboard as well as a "regular " one :)

*** Specialties ***
Mostly classical, but have at times worked with some Broadway singers, got them to sing technically correct, then referred them to a more appropriate teacher.

Students will progress in playing, note reading, theory, musical interpretation, and technique. The technique I teach--both for violin and piano--centers around using the body efficiently both to avoid injury and to get the best results from playing.

About Elana
Hello,

My name is Elana. I'm a professional violinist and enjoy teaching students of all ages and levels. My students have ranged from ages 4-64. Their goals have ranged from pure enjoyment to those considering a career in music. My goal is to help each student play to the best of their abilities and for them to enjoy the lessons. Violin is my passion, which comes through in my enthusiasm during lessons. I am gentle and patient but also honest and very particular about what to look for when practicing.

I take great pride in teaching the Russian method. Not only is the technique I teach used by the best violinists of all time, it also emphasizes efficient and correct use of the body to avoid injury and develop a tone with richness and projection.

What I look for in a student is a commitment to practicing every day. It's an
adjustment in the beginning for many, but once established simply becomes part of the day, like brushing your teeth. Over time, students hear improvements from practicing consistently and this creates a very positive experience. The violin becomes a source of joy and confidence.

Violin lessons help develop skills such as coordination and focus at the highest level, persistence, confidence, creativity, patience, and many other "life" skills whose benefits extend far beyond music lessons. Many people who achieve success in a career outside music later in life often credit their music lessons as having been key in that process.

As far as my musical background, I received my music degree from Rutgers University, where I was a recipient of the Marryott Music Scholarship. Upon graduation I freelanced as a violinist in the NYC metro area. My major teachers include Neil Weintrob and Lewis Kaplan.

As a teacher I have 20 years of experience. I've worked in various programs and currently teach violin and viola lessons at a local private school, in addition to running a private studio of violin and piano students. My violin students have been concertmaster, principal players, and section players in orchestras such as All-County, Region I, and NY Youth Symphony.

Feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have. I look forward to working with you.

Mrs. Marina has taught me piano for 12 years, since I was 6 years old! Now I'm 18 and going on to study music performance in college.

Beyond just teaching me music history, theory, and performance etiquette, she has taught me how to appreciate and love music for what it is. I've had numerous music teachers and none of them have shown the same energy, vigor, and passion for music as Mrs. Marina has. Anybody can teach music, but Mrs. Marina teaches you how to love music.

Her many years of experience has given her fantastic insight on how to approach every issue you may have. She has solutions for every technical problem I have, knows which pieces to assign to each individual student, and properly prepares her students for any piano exams and competitions. I have completed the ABRSM Grade 8 Practical Exam and competed in the Golden Key Music Festival competition!

Last year, I attended Carnegie Mellon University's Pre-College Program for music, and it was only with Mrs. Marina's help and guidance that I had such a wonderful opportunity.

If you're thinking about starting piano lessons for yourself or for your kids, I say absolutely go for it. Mrs. Marina is so warm-hearted and caring, and is truly a one-in-a-million piano teacher. It would be a shame to miss such an amazing opportunity.

Every person is a completely different world, because of that it's pointless to stick to one teaching method or curriculum. I do have a curriculum but I use it only as a guide to adapt to it to my students; I like to get to know my students, learn their weaknesses and strengths, what they want to accomplish and what they would want to avoid artistically.

I have over 7 years teaching experience, I've had students of all ages and skills, so I'm pretty confident you will be playing your favorite tunes and even composing your own music in a short period of time. Part of my lesson plan involves me recording, mixing and producing a song that you eventually compose. I will help you reach your artistic potential, so contact me when you are ready, we can start as soon as you want.

About Brian
I am a professional pianist, songwriter, and recording artist. Co-Founder of Third Tribe Studios.

My students can expect to improve week to week in their technique and knowledge. Every pianist has a unique style and way of performing: I teach students to find the way they feel the most comfortable but apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to play with freedom, confidence, and expression.

I teach piano students of all different ages and experience levels. I've studied and practiced piano for 9 years. I can teach students to read music and even compose their own.

As a professional recording artist that owns a studio, I'm constantly working with musicians that possess a wide range of skills and personalities, we co-write, record, and meet on a constant basis. I love to mentor s
tudents who want to become effective, dynamic songwriters and want to be able to tell stories with their music.

My personal passion is electronic music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become the musician you want to be!
