BS in Music Education, K-12 from West Chester Universtity, West Chester, PA
My approach is fun, simple, and easy to understand. I focus on getting a strong foundation and excellent first experience with music. The child will be given a lesson and theory book to work from, but will also be encouraged to sing music they personally like. This keeps the child motivated to practice and adds an element of fun! These songs can then be used in our recitals, for auditions, or put in their personal repertoire book.
I have also successfully prepared many students for their Cab Calloway School for the Arts auditions and have made it in.

Music iPortal started in 2013 as a small home studio teaching local students in the neighborhood. I've been teaching piano for over 13 years. I use Alfred's Premier Piano Courses levels 1 - 6 for children. For adults I use Alfred's Lesson Book 1 - 3. My teaching goals for all my students are to enable them to read and make music so that they could experience the joy of journeying in the realm of musical sounds.
My philosophy in teaching piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once a person learns the mechanism of driving so many possibilities open for the person to enjoy trips to many places that bring pleasures that destiny could offer. In some ways, playing the piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once the mechanism of making music is mastered, the possibilities of making journeys of musical sound is endless.

The end of the game has come. You have successfully out-maneuvered and outfought your opponent, conquering large swaths of the chessboard, and approaching that triumphal moment when you will topple the opponent’s king and declare that he has fallen---in other words, a checkmate (recall that “checkmate” is an anglicization of “shah mat”, Persian for “the king is dead”)… Only to realize that you don’t quite know how to finish the game, which inevitably results in a slapsti …

When it comes to sewing, if you’ve only familiarized yourself with the basic running stitch, then it’s time to broaden your horizons. There are many different types of sewing stitches that allow you to achieve certain goals. For example, if you want to sew an eyelet, you’ll want to master the blanket stitch, but if you’re looking to add a clean finish to a raw edge, go for a zigzag stitch using a sewing machine. In our hand and sewing machine stitch guide, we’ll review the man …

Patternmaking for most beginners seems mysterious and intimidating. It is a subject a lot of sewists try to avoid. As a professional working in the fashion industry for more than a decade, I had the same fear as many of you. It took lots of trial and perseverance to overcome challenges, and carve out a successful career. The First Step is to Make Mistakes! Many of my students are worried about making mistakes. They want to be sure every step they take is correct. Multiple attempts and fai …
