I have studied violin for 20+ years, and I love working with beginner students of all ages. While I was trained classically, I work professionally playing for Broadway musical theater, and was most recently The Fiddler in the Drama-Desk winning revival of The Fiddler on the Roof Off-Broadway. I have played a range of genres in my professional career, such as musical theater, bluegrass, and pop. For my young learners, I begin with the Violin Fun books and the Suzuki method, and incorporate music theory and scales into each lesson. No matter the age of my students, I keep lessons interesting by introducing students to a range of genres, and I always make sure to incorporate songs you've always wanted to learn!
About Lauren
I'm a Broadway performer in NYC, and have played such roles as the Fiddler in the hit off-Broadway revival of The Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Oscar and Tony award winner Joel Grey (2019 Drama Desk Winner Best Musical Revival) and Reza in the national tour of Once (Tony winner best musical). Hello there! My name is J and music has been a part of my life since I was a young kid. I learned to play the piano when I was 8 and never stopped learning since. Eventually, I taught myself how to play the guitar and a whole new world of music opened up for me and I would love to share my knowledge with you in a fun, energetic and creative way. Hope to hear from you soon!
About Jay
Hello Students/Parents, My name is Jay and I have been playing the piano since Elementary school and the guitar since High School. A piano upbringing instilled in me the core basics of music and music theory. Which eventually led me to teaching myself the guitar; which led to writing my own songs

I have been playing drums for more than 10 years and have been teaching for more than 3. Throughout that time, I have played across the country in New York City and even in Japan. I am currently a Jazz Studies Major at Sacramento State University. My goal is to make every student a well-rounded drummer who knows whats going on when they are in any type of musical situation. My favorite style to play is jazz, but I am well-rounded in all other styles such as rock, Latin, blues, funk, and country.
In my lessons, I base the material on the student depending on how advanced they are. If the student is just starting out, I will teach them the basics such as holding the drumsticks properly, basic rudiments, reading rhythms, learning about the hardware, and so on.
If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask :D
About Gabriel
I started playing drums when I was in second grade and formed a band with my 2 older brothers who played bass and guitar. It was something to do when we younger but when I got into high school, I took playing drums a lot more seriously. I was in a very competitive marching band playing bass drum and

Viola is the undersung hero of the orchestra, and I love to help violists learn this beautiful instrument! Though much of the technique of the instrument is the same or very similar to the violin, violists enjoy a great repertoire of solo pieces and high demand in ensembles, which I can help you discover for yourself. (Please see my violin profile for more information on experience and lesson style)

Patternmaking for most beginners seems mysterious and intimidating. It is a subject a lot of sewists try to avoid. As a professional working in the fashion industry for more than a decade, I had the same fear as many of you. It took lots of trial and perseverance to overcome challenges, and carve out a successful career. The First Step is to Make Mistakes! Many of my students are worried about making mistakes. They want to be sure every step they take is correct. Multiple attempts and fai …

I will admit to you, the reader, that most of the articles I have written thus far assume that the reader is already a fairly avid chess player, who is aware of the basic rules of chess and thus is interested in learning more advanced strategies, traps, and tricks with the goal of decisively defeating the opponent. But, of course, not everybody is born knowing the rules of chess---there are, in fact, many out there who are unfamiliar with the game, and need an introduction. Especially now …

Sometimes, in order to get the perfect fit, you have to go to a tailor and if you have multiple pairs of jeans, alteration fees can add up! Wearing jeans that are too long or too short is always uncomfortable, and oftentimes unflattering. But there are many easy ways to hem jeans to get the look you desire and in this blog post, we'll share a few of them. Whether you're taking sewing less …
