I mentioned to Gregory specifically I wanted to learn, which was GarageBand for iPad. He told me he taught middle schoolers and to book with him. I asked for more specificity on could he teach this exact thing, to make sure there was no confusion (please check the conversation he and I had within the takelessons website) and he kept saying book with me. I did.

He may know a thing or two about GarageBand (I don't know that for sure), but he knew very little about iPad GarageBand. It was a complete waste of my time. In text messages I said to him that I would not give him a bad review, but I was going to ask for a refund. He said thank you for not leaving a bad review. But then he wouldn't allow refund. Good God!

So here we are. He wasted 2.5 hours of my time, cost me parking in the city, didn't teach me literally anything, and he wouldn't give up the 50 bucks

All that said, now here I am having to take more of my time that could be used for productive purposes, to have to write a bad review. He really deserves this.

Very nice. It would have been better if I knew what books to purchase ahead of time. To maximize the lesson time, teacher should send expectations and tips for success to students ahead so preparation can take place. Be sure to have your own equipment too.

Basic math, preparation for algebra at any level

About Daniel
My name is Daniel B. I have my B. Sci degree in Psychology/Neuroscience and I am currently a Research Assistant at Harvard Medical School. My academic focus lies in neurodegenerative diseases, schizophrenia, memories, and consciousness.

Since its founding in 2006, I have been involved Neighbor to Neighbor Outreach (NTNO), a non-profit organization whose goal it is to insure that the children, youth, and adults of inner-city St. Louis are provided tutoring for every imaginable subject. Upon graduation, I moved to Boston to continue research in preparation for a PhD in Neuroscience. Here, i continue to tutor within and outside the university setting.

My teaching style is quite simple and effective. I initially gauge the student's level of understanding of the subject or skill that he/she wishes to master. I then create a comprehensiv
e learning plan which pushes the student to his/her limits while making the learning process both enjoyable and rewarding.

If you find yourself in need of my assistance, just let me know. I am able to work around your schedule and I am available to be contacted anytime.

*** Lesson Details ***
Initial Lesson:

- Subject understanding is determined.
- Necessary areas of improvement are determined.
- Preferred and/or most efficient study style is determined.
- Goals are set.

Each lesson will vary according to the student. As far as music studies are concerned, we will begin by ensuring mastery of the basics such as note recognition, chords, and correct fingering.

For each subject, the pattern will be similar. We will work on the basics and then we will progress commensurately.

Daniel was the perfect tutor for my son's prep for the GED. He was patient, prepared to help with test taking skills along with the actual content of the tests, and made himself available on a very short notice. In addition, Daniel is just a nice, respectful person that was a pleasure to interact with. I can not say enough. Highly recommend him!

I taught Math at CPS and in the North Suburbs of Chicago. I believe, my strengths are patience and the ability to explain material in a clear, simple way.

About Julia
I taught Algebra I and Geometry at Clemente High School in Chicago and AP Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry at Libertyville High School Summer Program. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a private school in Buffalo Grove, IL. I love tutoring students of any age, from elementary to high school. It makes me happy when I see the progress they are making. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instructions from Loyola University, Chicago.
At one point in my life I wanted to be a pharmacist, but when I became a teacher, I realized that that is what I was meant to be. I love helping people. I see how much difference it makes in a student's life when he or she starts to feel confident in Math class, starts to get high scores, starts to dream big. Math opens the doors to a better future, to a better career, to a higher s
elf-esteem. I am grateful for the opportunity to help to make it happen.

My son, who has had a terrible time with math in the classroom, enjoyed the session and looks forward to the next one. This is a low pressure, pleasant, and enjoyable way for him to do his math. I look forward to the next time.

Students will learn the concepts and apply them through a lot of practice problems. Through the practice, students will have a full knowledge of the concept(s).

About Andrew
I teach/tutor a myriad of topics and love doing it. I'm currently attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, studying aerospace engineering and computer science, so I love science and math (particularly when it has to do with space stuff). I'm super outgoing and a very laid back, chill person all at the same time (being like this has produced quite the stories). I also love food, a lot.

Working with others and helping them succeed has been something I've loved to do for a while now. While I was in high school, I was a coach for one of the local swim teams and had a blast getting to teach people how to swim and such, and the best part was getting to connect with those kids and seeing them succeed during the swim meets.

Once I graduated, I had the privilege to serve as a full time volunteer in Brazil for a couple years, where my
sole focus, every day, was to help others to improve the quality of their life. In doing so, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet new people everyday and see people's lives drastically improve. Another cool part of this experience was that I got to teach English as a second language to people who'd never spoken it before. They loved it, and in the time that I did teach it, students went from speaking no English to being able to form basic sentences and have simple conversations.

Now in college, I've strived to continue this pattern with the little free time that I get during the week and on the weekends due to my classes. Throughout all of this, I've discovered how easy it is for me to connect with people and how much fun it can be.

What I bring to the lessons:
I always ensure to provide the highest quality lessons and ensure that the student easily understands the materials. I'll provide materials that I know will assist the student to master the concepts.

My expectations:
Learning requires the student to put in effort. Any assignments I give, I will expect them to be completed. I understand that sometimes one of "those weeks" comes around where life hits us in the face, but it's not every week.

Your expectations:
You've come to me obviously to learn something new, and I intend to go above and beyond those expectations. I want the lessons to be more than just sit down, do the work, and then leave. That's not a great way to learn stuff, in my opinion. Expect to be brought out of your comfort zone a bit and experience things you never experienced before. Above all, expect to see these lessons as an enjoyable experience.

Experienced math teacher of 3+ years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of math skills.

About Natalia
If you are considering learning Russian language, I must say, you are a brave and adventurous person. It is a rather complicated language and you might have one of few purposes which will define the best method there to teach you:
1. If you plan to travel to St. Petersburg or Moscow, and need to pick up conversational Russian, we can certainly do that in needed period of time. We can practice dialogues, train comprehension skills, even work on your accent, if you wish!
2. If you have a business in Russia or any post-soviet countries and need Russian for negotiations, document translation purposes, simply for comprehension, we can build up the needed vocabulary and you are good to go!
3. If you are an intermediate student, and need to freshen up your Russian, maybe learn some specific grammar or industry related vocabulary, or just beco
me more confident in speaking – we can do that too – I always come up with new ideas to talk about, so there will be no time to get bored:-) Keeping both of us interested – you in learning and me in teaching is one of my goals.
4. If you are new to US, and need to improve your English for work or studies, we can work on grammar at your level, expand your vocabulary and work on conversational skills. I'm taking beginner to intermediate students. Step by step assistance with learning English is required when you are a beginner. From my experience of learning a foreign language, grammar of the language is usually best explained by a non-native speaker, who went through all the steps himself are and knows all the obstacles a learner can meet on the way of acquiring a new language.

Algebra is probably the most useful subject in math. I enjoy giving real-life examples and working through problems we find around us.

About Cory
I have a degree in Physics and Computer Science. I taught overseas for 2.5 years (Micronesia, South Korea and Thailand). I have a Minnesota teaching license in Physics. I taught in Minnesota and Wisconsin for 4 years. I am currently a lieutenant in the Air Force.

I have taught year-long courses in Physics, Physical Science, Chemistry, Algebra, Engineering, Drafting, Robotics, ESL, and along with many other subjects during summers.

I am passionate about making learning interesting. Not just the subject material, but the process in-which learning takes place is important to understand. A teacher cannot teach you everything you need to know. Instead, I try to teach you how to learn anything you need on your own.

My current hobbies include volunteering at the Space Foundation (teaching about space), Raspberry Pi computers, 3D Printi
ng, electronics, running, singing and playing ukulele.
