*** Lesson Details ***
I am pretty easy going. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease, but we do need to focus and can have fun doing it. :)
I utilize various methods for each instrument, which is determined by the students learning style and ability; needs, so this can change as time goes on (not sticking to one particular publishers materials). I have done (and continue to do) extensive research into materials available for each instrument I teach, and supplement with my own, to utilize the best out there for "YOU" for the best possible progress. While ensuring an extremely well-rounded musical education, so you can progress at the best possible rate. Since each student's potential is different, each will progress differently. This is also determined by your dedication to daily practice (the more you practice, the quicker you will progress & the more accomplished you will become). This is a 'Team Effort'; I give the guidance and tools. You practice, utilize learn these tools, and off we go! The sky is the limit!

Shannon has worked with me for years, as my nutrition/fitness/strength trainer and my private music instructor! I love her! She is so patient, kind and knowledgeable. She cares and only wants to help me be better at everything I do! And she is always there to help even between sessions. She's all in!

Sharon takes time to listen to you and cares about you as a person as much as a student.
She has been knowledgeable on any instrument I have done lessons on (flute, clarinet, alto sax, cello, and violin).

Shannon has been my triathlon coach and conditioning trainer for 3 years and I couldn't be more pleased. My racing times continue to improve, as I continue to aim for longer races. I just completed my first Half Ironman (70.3 miles)! I have never been injured in her care. She really knows what she's doing.

Shannon is very knowledgeable and traditional teacher. At first I was glad to learn a lot of the basics. After a while I started to feel held back. Every lesson she insisted I do chromatic and scales even though I did that with my practice on my own. It felt like a filler of time and often there was not enough time to do new pieces of music. I became very frustrated. In addition, her schedule and rigid cancellation policy did not work for me. She did not work according to the Take Lesson cancellation policies. Not to mention too much chatting about unrelated subjects. After a year I decided to change teachers and I am very happy I did.

Shannon has a way about her that resonates immensely with my son. He is inspired and motivated to practice daily and the quality of his sound has improved even more than I had anticipated. He's a talented musician but it takes a talented tutor to pull out greatness in an artist. She achieves this with a style and grace that leaves an impression. Thank you for your efforts with my son.

I signed up for 3 running coach lessons from Shannon for my son. She decided she wasn't interested in providing lessons, so she would create a schedule and count this in lieu of spending time with him. The schedule was not impressive. We could have found a similar schedule for free from a book in the public library or an even better interactive one for free in a running app. I was looking for a teacher and we were scammed.

I have been taking flute lessons from Shannon for about six months now. I am an older beginning flute student. It has been great working with her. She places much importance on fundamentals, getting the embouchure right and developing a good tone. My progress is slow, but i feel that later i will not have to go back and unlearn things. She is also happy to let me include flute pieces i like in the lessons rather than doing only lesson books and the like.
