I have been taking lessons from Michael for nearly nine months now. He has been an awesome instructor, very talented, helpful, and charismatic!
Michael is patient and very understanding. He takes his time and my time seriously and does not waste any od it. He is prepared and ready to further my ability from zero to reading sheet music in just 4 lessons. The lessons are geared to my level.
I actually look forward to my lessons with Michael.
I felt very comfortable practicing with Michael and he focused on exactly what I needed to learn.
Michael was easy going and encouraging. Shared some neat history about the guitar, one of it's "founding fathers" and a very instructive right-hand exercise. Thoroughly enjoyed my lesson and felt like I learned something.
Incredibly patient and communicates instructions very well.
Outstanding! First lesson and already learned a ton. Highly recommend Michael if you are a beginner or someone who has experience and looking to take your craft to the next level.
Very good teacher, has a lot of patients and makes you at ease .
Michael is very clear, sense of purpose, knowledgeable, easy to learn, and encouraging
Michael has been a great bagpipe teacher for our eight year old son. He is encouraging and patient in equal measure. His music choices have been well considered and appreciated. I was concerned about the efficacy of online lessons but it has all gone very smoothly and we haven't had any technical glitches. Despite the physical distance Michael has developed a personalized relationship with our son and it is clear that there is respect in both directions. Thank you very much!+ Read More
Moves quickly and directly to make progress towards achievable goals.
Very well done! Enthusiastic, productive and encouraging.
Michael, has been working with my son for a few months and has done an excellent job. My son is learning so much. Thank you Michael!!!
My daughter left with the biggest smile on her face!
Teaches at a pace that I can learn from. Not too fast but also not too slow. GREAT JOB
Michael was very patient and not only gave me a bagpipe lesson but walked me through the use on my computer. We even had to use the telephone for voice communication. I think there is no problem he cannot over come.
Enjoyed my first lesson, looking forward to future lessons.
Cameron had a great first lesson and is looking forward to the next one!
Michael is great, he takes the time to demonstrate if I don't pick something up right away and he makes himself always available for a question (lesson time or not).
Awesome instruction. He made it easy.
Michael was very accommodating and very thorough in his lesson. I left feeling very excited for my next lesson!
Michael was very helpful with my Skype issues. It was our first lesson and I didn't know that much about Skype. As to his teaching me he was very understanding and made me feel as easy. He showed me the proper breathing method with the chanter. I am looking forward to my next lesson with Michael.+ Read More
First lesson went well. I was very nervous, but was immediately made comfortable and we got to work. He is already helping me to unlearn some bad habits and take the process logically.
Was struggling, but Michael, in 30 minutes, quickly identified what I was doing wrong, helped me understand some pipe " physics" , took me through a series of note sequences, and in 30 minutes I made more progress than I had using videos, books and advice from other pipers. More than anything, he got me engaged and made it fun+ Read More
Was able to work at my level
Michael is an amazing instructor. He has been great at teaching me, as I came to him never having played an instrument, or knowing how to read music. We started right from the beginning and now a year and a half in I'm starting to play on the real thing. I would not recommend anyone else, he is top notch!+ Read More
Great guy, amazing musician. Patient with beginning students, helps them struggle through material.
Michael is a great instructor! I had no musical knowledge at all when I started with him, and he has gotten me playing an instrument now.
Michael Lancaster has been an engaging, inspiring, great teacher for my 14 year old son! We are grateful for him and the the online instruction has worked great.
Michael has been great for my two kids. One takes guitar lessons from him and the other takes bag pipe lessons. He is a master of both and very good with beginners on!
Micheal is an excellent musician and an excellent teacher. He is enthusiastic, encouraging, flexible, and versatile. He has a pleasant sense of humor, a friendly and relaxed demeanor, and a deep love for music. While Micheal knows a great deal about music theory, he also knows all about the reality of playing music live. He will teach you to play, and he will take the time to teach you the theory, if you want to know. He will guide you with care, reveal the subtleties of the instrument and it's music, and will make sure you get it right. Michael works well with children and adults. Not only do I take lessons from him, but have sent other members of my family to him, as well.+ Read More
Michael takes the time to make sure you do it right! Lots of patience. No better way to start bagpipe lessons than with Michael.
Michael makes it fun to learn to play the bagpipes and while he encourages practice and improvement he also understands people's busy schedules when finding adequate time to practice is difficult.
Michael is the complete package. The guy is knowledgeable, patient, approachable, and friendly. I had no prior experience in any instrument or musical theory, and wanted to learn bagpipes, one of the most esoteric and difficult instruments to learn, and he was willing and enthusiastic about helping make that happen. It's impossible to be in the same room as the guy without absorbing at least a little of his boundless enthusiasm for music and teaching.+ Read More
Michael is a great instructor. He challenges his students and gets the most out of them. Good with kids.
