I have played blues, hard rock, fingerpicking, folk, and jazz music on the guitar since 2006. I have played onstage in rock bands and jazz combos and received years of private instruction. I am a chronic improviser, a composer, a creative musician, and a music theory geek.
My enthusiasm for the guitar is related to its irreplaceable role in genres that are uniquely and beautifully American like blues, bluegrass, and rock 'n' roll.
I can teach you how to play the basics, how to solo, how to write a song, how to play jazz chords, how to play rock riffs, how to groove, how to fingerpick, or whatever you want to learn.
Check out my guitar lesson demo video on my profile to hear me play!

Born in the Midwest, I spent seven graduate years in Paris performing, teaching, and researching. I have come to see music lessons as both a personal process of body awareness and harnessing mental energy, and as an interpersonal process of exploring the dynamic between student and teacher. To beginners: anyone at any age can learn basic organ skills if they devote fifteen minutes a day to it. To intermediate players: my goal is to train you to be your own primary teacher. To advanced students: I can give you artistic colors for the palette and tools for the journey. Currently I can only take new students taking lessons on a weekly basis.
Music is personal and brings us into contact both with ourselves and with a force beyond us. I am passionate about the spiritual awareness that results from the study of performing arts. I have worked with ages 3 to 75, with kids, youth, and adults with ADD, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, cerebral palsy, s

I also explained my level of experience and was assured Raycurt was qualified to teach at the level I needed, but he came off as less knowledgable than me, which was particularly disappointing.
Worst of all, after multiple hours of speaking on the phone, I couldn't get my money back for this lesson.
I'd strongly recommend not using takelessons at all, they've put a horrible taste in my mouth for their entire service.

In the painting event, we had a large group (~15 people), so it’s very difficult to coordinate. People had different questions every 5 mins, or people asked the same questions, or you had to wait for other people. Sharon was very patient to answer everyone’s questions. We even went overtime but Sharon was very nice that she continued finishing the painting with us.
All my teammates produced very nice paintings! Majority of them have never painted before, but they created beautiful paintings under Sharon’s guidance. Thank you Sharon!"
