Hi, I'm Jayne!

I'm a self taught artist, based in Arizona.

Throughout my life, I have worked with many different methods for creating art. From singing and dancing to drawing, painting, and many other creative outlets that help me bring my imagination to life, and to share my work with the world.

I love teaching, I've been teaching since the age of fourteen. I love to share what I know, so I'm always creating and developing easy methods to approach art and creation for anyone that want to learn with me.

On this video I invite you to paint along with me the class project, I choose a fun and easy one! here are the supplies you need:

. Stretch Canvas (I used watercolor paper 300msg)
. Acrylic Paints: Your primary colors: Yellow, Blue, Red you will also need black and white
. A cup with water
. Paper Towels
. Brushes: Round #2, Filbert#4, Flat 1/2in, Fan Brush

In this lesson, we will be exploring the concepts of color value, hue, and saturation. Understanding these fundamental aspects of color will allow you to create visually compelling and harmonious compositions in your paintings.

Color value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. It is often referred to as the grayscale version of a color. When you add white to a color, you are increasing its value and creating tints. On the other hand, adding black to a color decreases its value, creating shades. By manipulating color value, you can effectively convey depth and create a sense of lighting in your paintings. Imagine a landscape painting where the mountains in the distance are depicted with lighter values and gradually become darker as they move closer to the foreground. This technique can create a powerful sense of perspective in your artwork.

Hue, on the other hand, refers to the specific color itself. It is what distinguishes red from blue, or yellow from green. Each hue has its own unique characteristics and associations. For example, warm hues like red and orange tend to evoke feelings of warmth and energy, while cool hues like blue and green can create a sense of calmness and tranquility. By understanding the properties of different hues, you can effectively use color to convey specific moods or emotions in your paintings.

Lastly, we have saturation, which refers to the intensity or purity of a color. A highly saturated color is vibrant and vivid, while a desaturated color appears dull or muted. Adjusting the saturation can have a significant impact on the overall mood and atmosphere of your painting. For instance, you might choose to use highly saturated colors to create a vivid and lively landscape, while desaturated colors can be used to create a more subdued and tranquil scene. By carefully considering the saturation of your colors, you can create a deliberate and effective visual impact in your paintings.
