I have been a professional painter artist and musician for 10 years. I received my BFA from SMU in Fine Art and Painting and have exhibited my work in galleries, shows, exhibitions and sold it at auction. My teachers have included Steve Wilder, Barnaby Fitzgerald, Bill Komodore, Massimo Lippi, Jay Sullivan, and others.
Plein Air, Still Life, and Figurative works are my specialties, but I have also studied the development of the abstract language.
I'm also acquainted with old master mediums and techniques such as egg tempera, grinding pigments, etc.

Looking to merge art and growth? I have been teaching emotional intelligence (aka EQ) classes all over Alberta and BC for the last 3 years from ages 5 - 95. There are lots of painting classes out there, but very few about healing through art.
What is Emotional Intelligence? EQ is an umbrella term for how we relate to ourselves and to others. Self awareness, self management, social awareness and relationship management are key factors to having a high EQ.
Even though these skills are crucial in any community or society, we are often never taught these concepts. Why? Because emotions are greatly understudied. Emotions are messy. They are unpredictable. They hinder left brain thinking that Western culture prides itself on. However, without these vitally important competencies, we are left wondering why we didn't get that job, why we are fighting with loved ones, why we seemingly can't stick to our work out plans and why our world is in a very critical state
About Andrea
Welcome! thanks for taking a moment to scroll. I have taught classes all around Alberta and BC and I teach traditional drawing and painting. Currently, I am most excited to teach 'painting With Purpose: Emotional intelligence Through Art' classes. They are a series of three classes called Connect W

Japanese calligraphy is a form of calligraphy, or artistic writing, of the Japanese language.
In modern calligraphy, a number of tools are used to make a composition. Most basic four tools were collectively called Four Treasures of the Study.
You need to purchase at Japanese store or internet store.
1. A brush
2. An ink stick (sumi).
3. Mulberry paper (washi)
4. An ink stone (suzuri) to grind the inkstick against, mixed with water.
5. A paper weight (bunchin) to hold the paper in place
6. A cloth (shi ta ji ki) to place under the paper (often newsprint is used as well) to prevent ink from bleeding through.
