I have had experience in many different types of dance over the last 30 years. I love dance of any kind and love to pass that on to my students! I try very hard to make my lessons specific to the needs of each student not only in what I teach, but in how I teach them. I have had much experience working with students with physical limitations, as well as those who are very advanced. While I do focus on technique and proper performance of steps, I also enjoy getting my students to perform and enjoy dancing. After 30 years of dancing and almost 20 years of teaching I still love what I do and can't wait to share that love with you!
After getting my BFA in Dance Pedagogy I began to branch out into the world of partner dancing. After spending some time competing in International Latin, I eventually starting competing in Hustle. I became a champion Hustle dancer, eventually being undefeated in Just Hustle competitions. During my time in Hustle I was also performing in dinner shows with a troupe of dancers and we would travel to events around the country. I was also exposed to West Coast Swing at the time, and this became my next venture.
I have reached the All-Star level in West Coast Swing and have continued to travel to events to teach, judge, and compete in both West Coast Swing and Hustle. All this time I have continued to study and teach Ballet and Modern Dance as well as Jazz, Ballroom and Latin.
I have been teaching on my own since 2008 and have had students of all levels. My students have been successful in competitions as well as being very strong social dancers. I love to teach and find that while it can be difficult to learn to dance, we can also have fun while doing it!
I was based in the Philadelphia area for almost 15 years and earlier this year have moved to the Charlotte, NC area. I teach at a couple of studios in the Lake Norman and Charlotte area as well as being able to teach online or in the comfort of your home. I look forward to sharing my love of dance with you, no matter what kind of dance you would like to learn!
