We all know the classics – Beethoven, Brahms and Mozart top the list of composers of some of the most beautiful and haunting piano pieces. But if you feel yourself falling into a repertoire rut, sometimes it’s necessary to take a break from the usuals and spice things up.
And that’s why we love coming across creative artists who take their craft on a unique path, such as Ukranian pianist Viktoriya Yermolyeva (or VK, for short). Her website and YouTube channel feature tons of awesome piano covers of Nirvana, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, and many other rock and metal artists. Ideal for the days when Mozart just isn’t cutting it!
Although you won’t get a step-by-step tutorial like other popular YouTube videos offer, her work is definitely a great listen, not to mention an inspiration! Even if you don’t play the piano, you may just want to take it up after watching her rock out. Here’s one of her Metallica piano cover that we especially like:
