I took painting lessons about 10 years ago and haven’t done anything since. I brought a 1/2 finished painting. Maggie was great helping me set up and seeing where I was and what I remembered. Then showed me some techniques to help get me going. I’m looking forward to our next lesson.

Maggie is an exceptional teacher who has her classroom management skills down to a tee. It’s amazing to watch her command a classroom full of children while remaining sweet and never losing her cool. She was a great mentor and I learned a lot about art education from her!

First thing I do before first day of class is send out an enthusiastic email and call shortly after. Briefly discussing and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class.

About Priscilla

I am from a musical and visual arts family from Brazil and my background ranges from classical, pop, rock and a jazz solo and group arrangements. I thrive in creating a friendly learning experience for each of my students that is personalized to their needs no matter the age or background. I believ

"Kathy is very patient in understanding areas that needs to be worked on. I didn't know anything about drawing but Kathy structured the curriculum in a way that worked best for me without being overwhelming. Starting from the technical aspects of drawing to the conceptual aspects such as mark making and what drawing meant in a fine art context, she has got you covered. She is very professional, kind and works with you to get the best out of you."

"Kai is an excellent instructor and has left a tramendious mark on me as both a student and an artist. Kai may be young, but he has knowledge beyond his years through skill and ambitiously being self taught he has been commended on nationally. Kai in the fall attended FACE and was recently awarded a certificate of excellence from The Portrait Society of America. I very grateful to have worked with him and been walked through his very informative and beautiful demos. Crique from Kai is wonderful and facilitates vast and constructive improvement in skill level. Would highly recommend Kai!"

"Today's art lesson with Dan was planned, organized, and given in a friendly, professional and very informative manner. He has excellent communication skills and his demonstrations are informative as well a fascinating to watch. As Dan's student, I was immediately put at ease by his friendly and energetic personality; I felt as if I were talking to an old friend and I left the lesson with a renewed enthusiasm for painting. I really feel as if I doubled my understanding and enthusiasm for oil painting in my first lesson with Dan. No matter what your skill level is, a few lessons with Dan will do wonders for your painting ability and you will enjoy every bit of the time you spend with Dan."
