    About Samuel M.

    Sam Michels is a freelance tuba player based out of Chicago, Illinois. He recently finished his BM in Tuba performance at Ball State University. As a player, Sam has performed with the Muncie Symphony, Ball State Symphony Orchestra, and the Ball State Wind Ensemble. Sam has been playing with the brass quintet, Beneficence Brass since 2017. With Beneficence Brass, he has toured in Iowa, Indiana, and Germany. He has atteneded music festivals in Michigan, Colorado, California, and Massachusetts. In addition to playing, Sam has taught tuba at Muncie Central High School, Dowling Catholic High School, and Franklin Community High School. With Beneficence Brass he has given workshops/masterclasses at Matthias Grünewald Gymnasium, Regensburger Domspatzen, and the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg. His primary teachers are Matthew Lyon and Michael Short.
