Teaching since:

Julie has been practicing yoga and the healing arts since the mid 90's. In 2000 she opened the Enlightened Tree Healing Arts Center in the heart of Indiana.

Her compassionate nature in her classes is a direct reflection of her many years of Buddhist study. In 2003, Julie co-founded the Indiana Buddhist Center and was dedicated to her beautiful teacher Geshe Jinpa Sonam, and her positions on the IBC Board. Julie says, “Anything good I have to offer in my classes or life, I owe to my beautiful teachers”.

She completed her first 200hr Yoga Training at Yoga Midwest in 2001 and in 2006 completed OM Yoga’s Teacher Training program and received her Vinyasa certification through OM. She continues her studies with workshops and yoga training intensives.

Julie brings a healing background to her classes with an emphasis on alignment, form, and breath. She encourages her students to recognize the connection to life's everyday challenges and the challenges they might experience on the mat. She reminds students that yoga, like life, is a journey, not a destination.
Julie is also a Female Empowerment Coach, Certified NLP, MER and Hypnosis, Reiki Teacher.

Yoga Alliance is the largest nonprofit association representing the yoga community. Our mission is to spread the power of yoga one person at a time.

We believe that the individual experience of yoga is of paramount importance, and are committed to supporting the passage of yoga from trainer to teacher, teacher to student, and student to aspiring yogi. Our role as the national support organization for the yoga community is to ensure that the practice of yoga will keep growing, so that more people will connect with yoga and be transformed. As an organization we keep several core values at heart: service, excellence, transparency, learning and community.

I’ve been taking yoga classes with Julie for 6 years and she is an amazing teacher. When I started taking classes with her I had no prior yoga experience. She gives suggestions and adjustments and is always challenging her students to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. Her flows are different every week and she assists students with specific needs to modify their flow as needed. She is fun, playful and serious about her practice.
