Great job getting my daughter who is not afraid to sing in front of people to open her voice up even further. She just preformed as a lead in a play and displayed what she has learned very well

I have over 20 years of playing experience, on and off and about 2 years of teaching experience.
For younger students, I use the Piano Adventure series books as it has yielded great results from my experience.
For adult students, I will start off with the Alfred piano book series for beginners, or books with famous pop hits, depending on what you are interested in.

Poh Hock is a well-rounded and versatile teacher. He is capable in many styles of playing and has a powerful understanding of music theory to reinforce his teaching. He is very patient and relaxed; I never feel stressed preparing for or during lessons. He is able to tailor his lessons more around exercises or learning songs depending on the wants and needs of the students. I've been taking music lessons in different instruments for 10+ years; learning with Poh Hock has singularly been the most positive and productive experience in that time.

Poh is awesome. He's super talented and educated in music. He has a great personality and challenges me in a positive way. I'm always looking forward to the next lesson!
Julian
Poh Hock is a great teacher that really has a passion for playing and teaching guitar. His style of teaching is very precise and methodical. I learned a lot of songs taking lessons with him but more importantly Poh Hock taught me how to practice material that I was working on. The lessons were really more like guided practice sessions. While some teachers that I've had might just use the lesson to teach material and have me practice over the week, Poh Hock used lesson time to really drill sections and get them to sound good. I absolutely recommend Poh Hock as a teacher for anyone who seriously wants to improve their playing and their approach to music in general.

Beginning to play music, why not start at the heart of the matter with the piano. Piano is the foundation of western music and let me show you the basics so you can have a lifetime of learning and fun! With the understanding of FUNdamental piano playing you'll have all the tools you need to play any song you hear on the radio, at symphony hall, or wally's jazz club.

At 40, I decided to pick up the tuba that I’d kept since playing in college. I wanted to get off to a solid start. I found in Bryan a solid teacher with a wealth of all sorts of musical knowledge. I implemented the lessons into practice and felt myself grow stronger in some areas than I had ever experienced in my first 10 years of practice and learning. I was also able to see a marked improvement in my bass guitar skills by applying many of the same concepts to the playing of that instrument. These lessons have been a great investment for my musicianship.
Kunjan
Bryan has very unique lesson plans and can channel his musical thoughts very clearly. He was very understanding and reflective of my needs. He then presented me with a series of mental models and exercises which i am certain will make me not just a better pianist but a better musician and also help me appreciate music better.

I would highly highly recommend Bryan and i will certainly continue the musicial journey with him.

My teaching philosophy is to instill in my students foundational skills enabling them to play wholesome, beautiful music for their enjoyment and the enjoyment of others. I love to show my students how they can make the piano an extension of their personalities and interests with music from classical to modern genres and activities that give them variety in the lesson and practice time. Games and listening exercises give my students a chance to take a break from playing and develop their senses for further musical understanding and appreciation.

About Grace

I've been a student of music for 18 years and love playing for others and teaching my students how to enjoy music. Most of my teaching experience has come from private lessons with individual students in their homes or mine but I have also really enjoyed being the string teacher for a public middle

Grace is such a wonderful piano teacher. We were so blessed to have our children under her teaching for 4 years. She is so patient and the kids just loved her. We have had piano since, and they just don’t get the kids as excited about learning as she does. She demonstrated, corrected, set goals, rewarded, and kept the children excited about progressing. She had special recitals that the kids loved preparing for, and would sometimes reward them with special little outings for good work. My son made tremendous progress under Ms Grace, and we still miss her dearly. She was like a member of the family to us!

Grace is a fantastic teacher and a wonderful person! My daughter just loved taking lessons with her. She is good at motivating the kids and I saw (heard) huge improvements in my daughters' playing. Since we moved, we've yet to find a teacher that compares.

I am a good friend of Grace's and a violin and piano teacher myself as well as a professional violinist. Grace has a real heart for her students and is great at adding things to her lessons that make it fun for the student to learn. She has years of experience as a musician and teacher and I highly recommend her as a top notch instructor.

In my teaching philosophy, I always teach students to understand the music better throughout the historical concepts. To let them enhance their understanding of the connection between music and life. I also stress that to be a good musician or artist, you have to learn how to be a good human being first. Because, people’s personality or character could reflect in their music as always. 1. To train the basic fundamental techniques 2. To learn the different style of the music throughout Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern music. 3. To train the performance mode 4. To learn how to "practice"

My 4.5 year old daughter had her first piano lesson with Jingci. I had learned how to play piano when I was a kid, so I could tell Jingci knows how to teach the basic foundation very well. She's firm yet patient and got my daughter to follow her instructions even though her attention span isn't that great at her age.

"I've been taking lessons with Joao for over a year and a half now, and I love how he works with me. He's taken the time to know my goals and my style of music, and tailors our lessons to what I want to achieve. He's encouraging, patient, generous, and kind, and I always enjoy my lessons because I know he's rooting for my success! He challenges me in great ways, but also supports me when I make mistakes. With Joao, I've gone from no piano experience to being able to write my own songs on the piano and have gained the confidence to perform in front of others."

"Only one 1/2 hour lesson so far - so I'm hesitant (but nearly willing) to give Randy a "best instructor ever" rating (which is how 5-stars is categorized here). But I'm thinking the 5-stars will come very shortly. I'm VERY encouraged with that short introductory session - we covered many things in the limited time and at this point I am confident Randy is heading me down the path I'd hoped for with my music journey after decades of neglect on my part."

"I studied piano for 3 years with Yoon Jae, from when I was 25-28 years old. I'd started playing piano a bit in my early 20s, but never very seriously. I am mainly a drummer and percussionist, and studied music in college. I was looking for someone to take my piano playing, reading, and technique to closer to that of a professional, rather than an amateur/hobbyist which was where I was at. Yoon Jae really did that. I'm not going to be touring and playing Carnegie Hall anytime soon or anything like that, but I can really confidently say that my lessons with Yoon Jae raised my level a lot. My understanding of touch, nuance and phrasing grew a lot. My reading, though still a weakness, improved a lot, and my technique improved tremendously. By the end of our time I was playing Chopin's Fantasy Impromptu. I think if my 22 year old self saw a video of my 28 year old self playing that piece I would be floored. Though I don't take lessons with him anymore, now when I work on a piece on my own I still use many of the approaches, strategies and practice techniques he taught me- and I think that is the most valuable thing I got from him. He really developed a much deeper awareness, nuance and focus in that I can take with me for the rest of my life as a musician. He really is a great teacher."

The Do's and Don'ts of Piano Care | How to Clean a Piano

Not sure how to clean your piano? Check out these tips from Olympia, WA teacher Tali H...   Perhaps you’ve heard the saying, “A clean room gives way to a clear mind.” Although I’m not so sure this logic follows for the piano (“a clean piano gives ways to clear playing”), it’s still important to keep your playing area relatively clutter-free and your piano tidy. While caring for the piano is simple, there are a few things to watch out for and some easy steps you can take …
