Basics such as the exposure triangle, how to compose and pick your shots, different uses for the tools found in Photoshop and Lightroom (post processing), how to effectively use lighting, and much more. As time goes on you'll be able to retouch and stylize your photos, to give them that professional look you have been wanting. All you need to get started is a camera and your eye. Steve is an excellent teacher! I always look forward to my classes. I am a student in high school, and he fully understands my need to balance my school work with piano, and he makes sure that I am able to comfortably commit to both aspects of my life. Steve makes sure that I stay on task and that I am progressing with my piano skills all while making the lessons fun and enjoyable.

The first thing - and honestly, when it boils down to it, only thing - you need to learn is how to see. An artist needs to look first and then respond, and I can really show you what this means. Drawing is seeing. Drawing is the first step.

About Mary

I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My main areas of concentration are drawing and painting, but I am also trained in printmaking, photography, sculpture, etc. Being an artist means being a lot of things. "Mark is a thoroughly knowledgeable, patient and encouraging instructor. I just completed a series of lessons with him to learn the basic elements of my new camera and settings so that I can go beyond the auto settings before embarking on a trip to Peru. I couldn't be happier with what Mark taught me. In addition to the basics of aperture, shutter and program auto modes, he provided very practical information on things like tripods, storage, programs and apps. I can't wait to take more lessons from Mark when I return from Peru!"

"I had the crazy idea of gifting to the girl I like a painting of her favorite flower. She lives in Shanghai and I was flying to over from New York. The problem was that I did not know how to paint. Because I had been so busy with work, I waited until last week before my flight to take lessons. Guiseppe guided me on how to approach my project and how to mix colors. Could not have done it without his instruction. Thank you."
