Are you a beginner who has never touched a hook or do you need help following a pattern? Do you need help finishing a project? Do you want to make gifts or special things for yourself? Have you seen a project on Ravelry or Pinterest that you just love but are afraid it is beyond your skill level? Don't worry, you can call on me anytime to get you through a tough spot. I will even help you find, fix and prevent mistakes. Crochet with confidence.

Work on a project of your choice or I will help you find something you will like. Be inspired, improve your skills and learn to read patterns.

I am familiar with every crochet technique. If you find something I do not know, I will master it before your lesson (except Freeform.) I am also a Published Designer, CYC Certified instructor, over 9 years teaching experience.

Recommended duration for in-person lessons is 90 minutes.

About Kim
For creative people and makers, crafting is like going to the gym. You will find great fulfillment and a sense of accomplishment if you set aside time on a regular basis to nurture this very important part of what makes you who you are. Think of me like a personal trainer. I will encourage and inspire you while you develop your skills and express yourself through a variety of textile based media.

Private and group lessons or classes are provided in locations around the NYC area, in my space or via webcam. My focus is on providing an entertaining, relaxing and enjoyable experience as you learn a leisure time activity. I am extremely patient and detail oriented. When you let me know what you would like to learn or make, I will guide you through everything from selecting materials to fine tuning your technique. Take a lesson with me to fi
nd out why my students love me.

Teaching is a wonderful extension of my work as a professional crochet and knit designer and technical editor. A web search will reveal some of my published work over the last decade. As a craft teacher in the NYC area for over 8 years, I have worked with individuals, groups and classes of all ages and skill levels. Most of my experience focuses on working with older adults and people with special needs. Minors must have a supervising adult present. I do not work with groups of young children.

I have studied the history and mastered the skills to make and teach a vast variety of textile techniques. Please see my experience.

If you are using this site without the assistance of a TL Rep, I recommend the schedule as you go option. I often have openings in my calendar sooner than the site allows. After we make contact, we can choose the best date and time.

*** Lesson Details ***
Please let me know what you would like to learn or make before your lesson so that we may be fully prepared with any materials, tools, equipment, books or handouts. Students are expected to provide all their own tools and materials unless other arrangements are made.

I just finished my first lesson with Kim and am looking forward to the next! She is very knowledgeable about crocheting and wants to make sure you understand. I was skeptical about doing an online class but I couldn't be happier! I am so glad I found Kim and look forward to continuing my classes.

Kim is great, very specific for my first lesson giving me a lot of information and specifics before we started the knitting part, I found that into wonderful! The lesson for someone who has never picked up needles before was the perfect speed. I have the lessons recorded so I can watch while I practice. Kim if you're reading this, thank you for making feel so comfortable even when I was clumsy 🤗.

I have had nothing but the best experience working with Marlisa. She is patient, she takes the time to verify that you've grasped a concept you're struggling with and works to find the best way to communicate with YOU. I don't think anyone would regret spending an hour or two learning and chatting with Marlisa. I feel so inspired and more confident each time I leave a session. If you're on the fence about trying this; don't hesitate!

Marlisa is a very kind, patient and knowledgeable teacher. I took my granddaughter to her for a pottery lesson and she was very happy with Marlisa's teaching, resulting in her being able to throw a bowl on the wheel that she can actually use. I would highly recommend Marlisa as a teacher for students of all ages!

Marlisa is an awesome teacher. I took a pottery class at Glen Echo years ago and was very disappointed, but with Marlisa's excellent teaching skills and enthusiasm for the art, I left her studio feeling like I wanted to buy a wheel and start throwing. I appreciate her hands-on approach and always felt taken care of attended to. Marlisa is a true artist and excellent teacher!!! I highly recommend her.

I have been teaching crochet since 2013, with levels ranging from beginner to advanced. I can teach students the basic stitches to some of my favorite, more advanced techniques, including crocheting in the round, charts, lace, and colorwork.

About Rhiannon
My name is Rhiannon and I am a third generation crafter. Originally I went to school for art history, all the while crafting. Eventually I had enough of studying other people's work and instead wanted to make my own and empower others to do the same.

I consider myself to be the "Swiss Army Knife" of crafters. I have delved into nearly every craft and love passing this knowledge onto my students. For these reasons I have a diverse range of crafts I can teach, including: knitting, crochet, embroidery, hairpin lace, needle felting, and shuttle tatting. In addition to my passion for a variety of crafts, I also love teaching a variety of skill levels, from students beginning their first stitch to someone who wants to redesign a pattern.

With a positive attitude and a willingness to learn I can teach you any of a variety of crafts.

Myself and a co-worker spent 3 lunch hours with Rhiannon learning the basics of crochet. Rhiannon taught us the various stitches and patiently worked with us until we were comfortable with each one. She also directed us to an online resource to support her instruction that we could refer to as needed. This was our first online lesson of any kind and we were extremely happy with what we learned and the convenience of learning it online. Thank you Rhiannon. :)

I loved my class with Rhiannon. I was a little unsure about how an embroidery class would truly work online. However, my class was clear, enjoyable and I particularly liked how Rhiannon showed me how each stitch I learned today, can be used to create specific effects. She used her own embroidery projects to illustrate this for me.
I can't wait for my next class!

I've been teaching crochet for 3 years and my students have gone on to understanding, editing and creating their own crochet patterns. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to complete a simple project and as time goes on you'll be able to edit a pattern. I specialize in pattern alteration and have hooks and yarn to practice with for your first 3 lessons. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Rachel
Hi, there!
My name is Rachel and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching crochet lessons since 2013 and have loved helping my students learn how to crochet, advance their skills and create patterns of their own. I'm currently in school for Communications and Studio at Oglethorpe University and will graduate in 2017.

I'm an outgoing and patient person and my teaching style is one on one, slow spaced and tailored to my students needs. If my students are advancing quickly through each lesson then I will adjust accordingly. If they need more time learning then I will take my time with them until they feel ready to move forward.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Rachel knows her craft very well. She makes a lot of her own patterns and crochets everything from headbands, to bags, to costumes. She's a very good teacher; patient, a good communicator, and she's willing to work with you until you understand the technique you're learning.

Currently a pattern designer for Red Heart Yarns, I've been teaching knitting and crochet professionally for six years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to crochet simple patterns but as time goes on you'll be able to make whatever wonderful project you can dream up, from sweaters to stuffed animals. I typically use my own teaching materials supplemented by some handouts from the Craft Yarn Council. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Laura
Hi! My name is Laura and I have been teaching professionally, in one capacity or another since I graduated from college in 1998. I currently design knit and crochet patterns for Coats & Clark (the largest craft manufacturer in the world). My mother taught me to knit and crochet at such a young age that I don’t remember a time when I haven’t known how to knit or crochet. In 2010 I began teaching needle-crafts, as well as selling the same items I’d been making and giving away to loved ones for many years. I also began creating and selling hand spun yarn. I have been developing and designing patterns since 2013. Once you start knitting, the possibilities are endless!

I've taken lessons from Amy for both Crochet & Knitting. She is awesome!! I'm ambidextrous, a lefty by nature but do many things with my right and Amy was able to show me both left & right ways of knitting to see which one was more comfortable for me. She is knowledgeable and extremely patient, upbeat personality and makes learning fun. My 9yr old took a class with her and loved it. Don't hesitate, Amy is awesome.
